Hi Rich! Thanks for joining us!
Avatar 10:29am worldsworstrecords:

  10:32am solo mon:

Queer Qoffee
Avatar 10:34am worldsworstrecords:

maybe... my assumption was that Mediterranean men were seen as a bit girly and obsessed with their appearance
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34am Rich in Washington:

Hey solo mon! Finally, some rain!
Avatar 10:36am worldsworstrecords:

Ohh... chuck a Qoffee my way, would you? Big and black and strong
Avatar 10:36am worldsworstrecords:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00am Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am Crudbringer:

@WWR what a terrific edition. Curation is everything. Thanks so much.
Avatar 11:02am worldsworstrecords:

We're going to Germany next, and to the Berlin cabaret, before nipping over to Chicago and some queer blues
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar 11:03am worldsworstrecords:

*rest
  11:03am solo mon:

“I called him numbnuts”
  11:03am Martinibomb:

I don't know why, but every time I hear, "Big fish dinner" in these oldies it makes me laugh - does it mean something else?
  11:04am Martinibomb:

Fucking gawd damn nazis bleg. They are the real degenerates.
  11:05am solo mon:

Uhhh well Martinibomb it’s a terrible old gay euphemism for lady parts.
  11:05am Martinibomb:

Heh heh of course it is!
Avatar 11:05am worldsworstrecords:

...what solo said, MB
Avatar 11:07am worldsworstrecords:

I'm sure you picked up the word 'Hitler' accompanied by the hiccoughs
  11:07am solo mon:

Actually it’s still used a lot in drag which I don’t like at all! The reference in that song was pretty hilarious though. This music is so open and also so coded. Weird combo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Crudbringer:

"My intersectionality is problematic."
  11:08am Martinibomb:

my cat just had a big fish breakfast.
  11:09am solo mon:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am chresti:

Someone sitting next to me at the counter of a coffee shop in Hollywood, Arthur Js, told me I was pretty good for a "fish", he was impressed because I had a plaid lunch box for a purse.
  11:15am Mx. Granny 2 U:

my cats have earned a big fish breakfast
Avatar 11:16am worldsworstrecords:

Avatar 11:17am worldsworstrecords:

i would have hit him in the face with that lunchbox, chresti!
Avatar 11:18am worldsworstrecords:

I love this... it's obscene!
  11:18am Mx. Granny 2 U:

i found out that if you want to suffer shameless misogyny, be femme in a gay male scene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18am chresti:

Haha, I guessed it had to do with my gender or that I needed to bathe.
  11:19am solo mon:

Chresti?! Grossssssss. Granny 100 percent agree. I carnt stand it.
Avatar 11:20am worldsworstrecords:

I love my community, but we're just as good - and just as awful -as the hets
  11:22am solo mon:

Toxic masculinity but make it fashion.
  11:22am Mx. Granny 2 U:

yes, we can't claim to be immune to the troubles that straight folx have
Avatar 11:24am worldsworstrecords:

sadly, being queer doesn't automatically make you a better person... although it does usually mean that you smell nice :-)
  11:24am solo mon:

I am clearing away my own cobwebs of toxic masculinity daily, it is work but def work I want to do.
  11:25am Mx. Granny 2 U:

ha ha! you don't want to smell me now, just back from the vet. ew!
Avatar 11:26am worldsworstrecords:

lol!
  11:26am solo mon:

Mx. Granny smells of cat fear!
  11:26am Mx. Granny 2 U:

solo mon: right on!
Avatar 11:27am worldsworstrecords:

isn't that as much as any of us can hope for? To keep working to improve ourselves?
Avatar 11:27am worldsworstrecords:

...it must have been women. 'cause I don't like no men
  11:27am solo mon:

My cats are all sacked out. it just started raining. I’ve got the windows open and it smells like petrichor and sage in here.
  11:27am Mx. Granny 2 U:

i got this on the mean mothers blues collection when i was a wee queerlette and wow!
Avatar 11:29am worldsworstrecords:

God, I LOVE the word (and the scent of) petrichor
Avatar 11:29am Ursula1000:

petrichor and sage---good acid folk band name
Avatar 11:30am worldsworstrecords:

Incense and Petrichor...
  11:30am solo mon:

Ugh this amazing vintage queer music is distracting me from finishing my own show!
  11:30am Mx. Granny 2 U:

mmmmmm
Avatar 11:30am worldsworstrecords:

soz solo!
Avatar 11:31am worldsworstrecords:

  11:33am Mx. Granny 2 U:

Avatar 11:33am worldsworstrecords:

Glad you like it, Hopey... there's another song coming up from him before the end of the show
  11:34am solo mon:

They Punished that pun.

  11:38am solo mon:

Oh me tooo U1k me too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:38am Mx. Granny (e/em):

The change is o-FISH-al! (You'll note that Spicy Tuna was a reference to the very fish of which we've been discussing)
  11:40am solo mon:

Yay! Mx. Gran! Ya know I didn’t actually register that ref Gran, And also how weird are these comment boards? So topical. And tropical.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:41am Mx. Granny (e/em):

i really am impressed by the WFMU boards. And i think the Spicy Tuna swam under the radar of most folx
Avatar 11:42am worldsworstrecords:

Blimey! I can't believe we've only got a quarter of an hour or so left
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Great program, Darryl! I gotta go back and listen from the beginning. I see you played a version of "He's So Unusual" and i MUST HEAR IT
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Rich in Washington:

@solo mon @11:30: Welcome to my world on Fridays! I've usually got GeorgyGirl and Don-O on while I'm pulling records and CDs for my show!
Avatar 11:44am worldsworstrecords:

thanks Granny... It was fun to compile
Avatar 11:44am worldsworstrecords:

still another five songs to go before the end though
  11:44am solo mon:

Thx Darryl for distracting me wholly and rigorously
  11:45am solo mon:

What color are pansies?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Hopey Sockmonkey:

I just read the previous comments about toxicity. Back in the day my partner (who was rather rubenesque) used to get grabbed by men when we hung with our friends in gay bars. It incensed me but was always played off as just being "friendly/fun".
Avatar 11:46am worldsworstrecords:

Whoo! Whoo! Whoo!
Avatar 11:47am worldsworstrecords:

I always think if you're not happy with the way other people behave it's usually their problem, not yours
Avatar 11:48am worldsworstrecords:

Another track from Bruz next, Hopey
  11:48am solo mon:

@Rich- a listener sent in a lengthy confession about her weird relationship w the birds she started feeding on her balcony. It is interesting, but I have to finish editing it before the show.
  11:49am Martinibomb:

this one is pretty hilarious
Avatar 11:49am worldsworstrecords:

It's a fabulous album, MB... and it's got Davy's Dinghy on!
Avatar 11:52am worldsworstrecords:

Coming up next on Sheena's, this week's Lost Media Archive: www.wfmu.org...
Avatar 11:54am worldsworstrecords:

just one song after this one, then I'm out of here. Thank you all for keeping me company :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Hopey Sockmonkey: ew, i was just thinking about all the times i (a femme) was freely grabbed without consent at gay clubs by men who thought it was hilarious. I tried to be a good sport. But ew! Not ok.
Avatar 11:56am BC Sterrett:

Good morning :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:56am Hopey Sockmonkey:

Granny, I know! If you protested then you were deemed uncool. It was pretty bad.
Avatar 11:57am worldsworstrecords:

Hi BC... ready to take over?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am Hopey Sockmonkey:

I'm definitely checking out the first half of this show in the archives!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Mx. Granny (e/em):

Hopey Sockmonkey: just gonna say it plain right here—consent is mandatory.
Avatar 11:58am BC Sterrett:

All ready :)
Avatar 11:58am worldsworstrecords:

Cheers Hopey... it should be available to stream in an hour or so
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Otis Fodder:
