I was a freshman when HM came out. I had been obsessively collecting the mag for years at that point, so was super excited about the movie. I was too young and naive about how hollywood, etc.. worked.

I'm sure your mom was disappointed with Xanadu. The movie was largely a music video on the big screen. Not much songs was sunk, Magic the #1 single included!

I think the last movie I ever saw with my mom and brother in a movie theater was E.T. We were snotty teens by then, but I remember there being this "I'm not crying - YOU'RE crying!" moment towards the end, made even more embarrassing by having our mom there.
