Golden Hour of World Music Videos w/ Subtitles a/k/a
Video no Mató a la Estrella del Radio

Today (August 1) is the 39th anniversary of the launch of MTV! Here's Bappi Lahiri's take on the first song ever played on MTV - sung by Usha Uthup for (we believe) Kim Yashpal in the 1982 Bollywood musical Disco Dancer:

With that anniversary in mind, on tonight's show we ask the musical question: Is there any reason for music videos to exist? And the answer is a resounding yes!

You see: We know that one of the challenges of our show is that you may not understand the lyrics of the songs we're playing. But the magic of video solves that problem. Join us for our Golden Hour of World Music Videos With Subtitles - with video links posted for each song (or see the full video playlist at http://tiny.cc/tsp-subtitles) - in Hour 2 of our show tonight!

Listen to this show: Pop-up listen Pop-up player!

kmx, what kind of device are you on? saddled with google implies something with android os -- i would think you have a web browser if that's the case (or any machine that allows you to chat here) -- do you not have a google chrome app? how are you entering messages here? through the app?

@Spodiodi, something called a UMX, which I believe is an Android product. I do have a browser I'm just on a table to go to a website without having to link to a computer. now bare with me because I'm far from Tech Savvy. hey if anyone's on social media I just found out my friend Kelly Brannon has been missing in Florida for 2 weeks, assumed abducted. Guess I can't post the image of the missing person poster but Im sure you can find it. Please spread the word especially if you know anyone in Florida. Kelly is a fierce warrior for social justice, she organized & participated in an Occupy March from NY to DC in 2011. Nobody deserves this but this is a real loss for society like I said she is a vocal and powerful voice for change and a really good artist too boot. Thanks

the cats, of course, were enjoying your show in AC'd comfort -- and the old "and i work for you and i slave for you in this sweltering heat!" etc. (and i was, indeed, schlepping around buying cat food, litter, etc.) never works for them -- their general response is, "And your point is -- ???"
thanks again -- STAY COOL!
