I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

My cat is really confused by these sounds
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Krys O.:

Good afternoon! Settled in for marbles and lunch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Hy Bryce - It was great to hear you get on the mic a few minutes ago to front announce. I got the message loud and clear!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Threemoons:

Loving this track and needing it now.
Avatar 12:05pm βrian:

Man, I love these Buddhist ceremony recordings.
Avatar 12:06pm KenW:

WOWOWOW!!! What a PERFECT choice to open with! Thanks & Hallo Bryce, and happy Friday fellow Marbelings!
Avatar 12:06pm fred:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Rory:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Krys O.:

Healing sounds!
  12:13pm Ramblin' Ray:

Hey Bryce & Co. Bring on the pipes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Ike:

Hot, cool, marbled.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm tim from champaign (now washington):

What region is this Fiuda Bagadia from? This is nuts in a wonderful way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Krys O.:

There's some Carpathian folk music that sounds similar to this.
  12:14pm Ramblin' Ray:

Bagpipers in Sardinia, i believe, are forbidden entry to churches.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Bryce:

yes, sardinia!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Bryce:

this one's super odd, pairing a sardinian "triplepipe" with an accordion
Avatar 12:17pm Sem:

Blend me, shape me, anyway you want to.

Hulllloo, Bryce, Sardinian piper fans, and others of other muisical persuasions.
  12:18pm Ramblin' Ray:

I recall hearing some strange and powerful small-ensemble singing from Sardinia possibly on RealWorld record label.
Avatar 12:18pm Sem:

...and Casu marzu enthusiasts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Passaic River Blues:

Somewhat on topic, two good short Sardinian novels I've read in the last year or so: (1) Salvatore Satta's "The Day of Judgment;" and (2) Marcello Fois' "Bloodlines."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Why have I not heard Sardinian music before? Thank you Bryce!
Avatar 12:22pm βrian:

Lots of great vocals, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Yes:

helloo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm tim from champaign (now washington):

According to the internet machine there's even Sardinian throat singing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Bryce:

casu marzu, you OUTLAW
Avatar 12:25pm Chris from DC:

This is pretty amazing.
Avatar 12:25pm fred:

@tim: it took me some time to learn those marbles where meant to go into a blender, not my ears. I'm afraid I missed a lot

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Rory:

Wow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Carmichael:

I'm rejoicing. Mrs. Carmichael received her blender repair parts yesterday, with a BRAND NEW SHARP blade. Improved marbling!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Tom in St. Paul:

this gaida song is very similar to the "Bulgarian Shepherdess Song" on the original Cosmos soundtrack.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Rory:

Bulgaria has always fascinated me. Now I know they make beautiful music, thanks Bryce!
Avatar 12:29pm Hubig Pie:

Bulgaria also makes really good cheese
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29pm joe mulligan:

good afternoon marble crushsers! this Rhodope Mountain bagpipe orchestra is blowing my mind.
Avatar 12:29pm βrian:

And where would we be without lactobacillus bulgaricus?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Krys O.:

My brother's DNA test revealed we have Bulgarian ancestry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Yes:

thanks joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Rob W:

One thing is certain in an uncertain worold: You can never have too many gaidas. And congratulations Krys. O and family!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Bryce:

rob!!! hello, friend :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Ken From Hyde Park:

The island must be very overpopulated. I heard they're packed in like Sardines!
Avatar 12:41pm fred:

duduk often sounds appropriate in summer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Rory:

KFHP: plenty of maggot cheese and sardines on this island for everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm tim from champaign (now washington):

My pre-school aged daughter has a school friend whose dad is from New Zealand and another friend whose dad is Bulgarian. I already asked the New Zealand dad is he likes The Clean and received a big ?. and then the conversation felt a little awkward I'm a little leery of asking the Bulgarian dad about Bulgarian folk music now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Crudbringer:

TIL the duduk was proclaimed a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
  12:47pm Little Fyodor:

Oh god do I find that Queen song awful!! Dang, I had Night at the Opera as a kid, and I don't remember this at all!! I still like some of their stuff, but, this one, yeeesh!!!
  12:48pm ZeeBee:

Oh shit yah my friend just sent me a mix tape two candles and a Samuel Delaney book in the mail!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Rob W:

And hello to you Bryce my friend! We've been listening and enjoying every week since work-at-home began, just don't always get on the comments board!
Avatar 12:51pm KenW:

Today's show will be on heavy archive rotation this coming week, WOW!!!!!!
Avatar 12:52pm dougseidel:

I remember David Watson from the old A-mica Bunker on E. 9th street - great venue for improv years back...
Avatar 12:53pm fred:

Bagpipes should be the thing to bring people to agree
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm joe mulligan:

quite an afternoon of mighty wind Bryce! hahaha @Fred
Avatar 12:55pm KenW:

Intense performative work, LOVE THIS, reminding me of HN's Orgien Mysterien Theatre :)))))))
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Travisano66:

I love bagpipes. And I love this music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Rory:

Combustion in thin air. Space and time start bending and warping, BLACKHOLE!
  12:56pm from Quebec:

I've eaten casu marzu, and also su callu (callu de cabreddu). Would eat the former again, but probably not the latter. Storing it in your kitchen is not recommended either.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Rob W:

I feel for you and your cultural conundrum Tim - although I have to confess, even though I can very proudly say that my wife Katie played in a band with a member of the Clean, your odds might be a little better with Bulgarian dad. Then again, who knows, he could be a metal-head!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm brainiac:

I don't know why more doctor's waiting rooms don't have bagpipe music piped in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm tim from champaign (now washington):

@Rob - hahaha. I won't give up! I projected my assumption that The Clean where as ubiquitous in New Zealand as Bob Seger is in Michigan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm Krys O.:

My family's DNA also goes way up north to the Sami Finno-Ugric folks.
Avatar 1:06pm fred:

@brainiac: Well, an actual bagpiper would probably work even better. I love the instrument, but it's LOUD!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm tim from champaign (now washington):

Fly By Night? You're gonna play some Rush, Bryce?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm joe mulligan:

that three rectangle symbol might be a mid 90s attempt at a Triquetra
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Crudbringer:

MIAOW
Avatar 1:08pm tayne:

cat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Ike:

Which critter was that?
Avatar 1:09pm fred:

@tim: nah, only Meghan can play Rush on the station
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Crudbringer:

@tayne we have important work to do
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm Rob W:

@Tim - ah but speaking of Michigan - it's doubtful Bob Seger would ring a bell for Katie's 93 year old mom in Chesterfield Township MI... but yes, she is in the minority among Michiganders in that regard!
Avatar 1:13pm TDK60:

Hello Bryce, all. Doin' house chores.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Rob W:

I love your family's DNA Krys!
  1:14pm Jim F:

Pet that cat, Bryce!
Avatar 1:15pm Hubig Pie:

Sounds like Piobaireachd
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Rory:

I think Bryce has played DNA?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Krys O.:

Thanks, Rob! Hope you and Katie and well. The funny thing is growing up, we only knew my dad's sister's family because they emigrated to the States to the same area. Over the years I've contacted relatives in England, France, Argentina and some in Poland, of course.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Carmichael:

Where I come from it's called ceòl mòr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Krys O.:

@Rory: Ha!
Avatar 1:20pm Hubig Pie:

You say Ceól Mór
I say Piobaireachd
I don't have Gaelic keyboard, so I substituted Spanish accents
  1:21pm listener monica:

lovin' the drone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm tim from champaign (now washington):

This is fantastic. Reminds me of La Tene.
Avatar 1:23pm fred:

@tim! I can hear that
Avatar 1:23pm Chris from DC:

Wow it really is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Rob W:

@Krys, thanks, we are doing well, you too I hope!
We are fortunate to be in good shape to weather the storm if you know what I mean. Fun chatting with you through Bryce, his show is a fine conduit!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Fox:

hullooooo.
Avatar 1:28pm fred:

@Krys: where those French relatives in Picardie? There were so much immigration from Poland there that until a few decades ago Polish was the first language in some villages (that were basically transplanted from Poland)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Bryce:

hiyaaaaa!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Rob W:

This very compelling 1985 Yoshi Wada bagpipe and hand-made organ work was reissued a few years ago and is now on bandcamp - yoshiwada.bandcamp.com...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Carmichael:

Perfect music for revising an environmental purchasing policy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm joe mulligan:

had to look up Callu de Cabrettu and reminds me that I often forget rennet is integral to making cheese. that process of getting rennet is heavy!
Swag For Life Member 1:46pm seb:

this is quite the aural expression of your show's heading illustration
  1:47pm βrian:

Wow, this is making my plug wires arc. In a good way, of course, but my machine is not running smoothly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Krys O.:

Super busy at work. I'm finding the bagpipes are quite soothing.
Avatar 1:51pm TDK60:

house chores soundtrack, thanks...
  1:56pm from Quebec:

Bryce I don't either (stomach for it, ha ha). You have to know the shepherd who produces it (I don't think it can be legally sold). The person I was with loves the stuff (or so he claimed)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

enjoying this set and the cheese chat very much

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm joe mulligan:

@Hubig didnae know that ricotta was so simple! makes sense as it's so different. it's the stuff with casein that I like the most, which is probably what's not the best for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Crudbringer:

(yeah is ricotta "not actually cheese" like paneer and mozzarella? just pressed curds, no bacterio-enzymatic action?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Krys O.:

Seriously, I've heard these sounds when the P-touch label printer cartridge is empty when you try to print a label for a file folder. z

As I say that, our hot stamp press is clicking away in time.

Thanks for the music this afternoon Bryce! I had to run out to pick up new glasses so missed the end of the double reed festival set... but could not be happier to be back (with improved vision) for this LaMonte. A real third- eye-opener this one. Been spending much time inside his music this summer.
@KenW- agreed! Best wishes as well for the ongoing reality of Dream House and LaMonte and Marian and Jung Hee's creativity! They are necessary and foundational!
