Listener comments!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Matt from New Orleans:

Welcome back. Do you know a DJ from New Zealand Chris Langston? He does a radio show that I listen to.
Avatar 9:50pm Kris Holmes:

I don't know him, just looked him up on Facebook, he's from the opposite end of a different island pretty much, but we don't even have any DJ friends in common. Weird. I might have left NZ before he started?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Matt from New Orleans:

Don’t really know him at all. He plays soul, funk & disco. He partners with a woman in Melbourne named Caroline Smee. They split the show. One hour each.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm Matt from New Orleans:

Glad that you seemingly made it there and back healthy
Avatar 10:02pm northguineahills:

hellos w/ bellows!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm coelacanth∅:

greetings and Welcome back Kris! hello all
Avatar 10:03pm Kris Holmes:

Gonna try to get cover tests to make sure but that's nearly impossible here at the moment, we're asymptomatic at the very least
Avatar 10:04pm Kris Holmes:

*cover = covid
Avatar 10:04pm Kris Holmes:

Good to be home though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm chresti:

Hi Kris and homeward bound!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:05pm coelacanth∅:

what a great song
Avatar 10:06pm northguineahills:

I'll have to wait until I move back to Orlando to get tested. I'm currently in a county w/ no testing facilities (FL). I should be moving this weekend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm Matt from New Orleans:

She was in the Cookies? Her voice reminds me of them.
Avatar 10:07pm Kris Holmes:

Yes, The Cookies
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Matt from New Orleans:

There was a lot of doo wop and vocal groups in my house growing up
Avatar 10:10pm Little Danny:

Hi fiends/friends
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11pm Matt from New Orleans:

Hello Danny. Are you back on Thursday?
Avatar 10:11pm Little Danny:

Yeppers
Avatar 10:13pm Kris Holmes:

Oh hey Dan!
Avatar 10:15pm northguineahills:

@Matt: "Cookies". One of the few times where capitalization actually was necessary. (I'd be have quizzical dog look, otherwise).
Avatar 10:18pm northguineahills:

feliz holas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Matt from New Orleans:

Animal Crossing?
Avatar 10:22pm northguineahills:

15 ninutes record shopping? Amateur! (I used to subject my wife to 3-4 hours of torture every time I hit a record store, I'd have to look at EVERY record before making my decisions). It might have contributed to her banning me from record stores, not just the lack of room issue....
Avatar 10:22pm Kris Holmes:

nah, not animal crossing, zoo something
Avatar 10:23pm Kris Holmes:

15mins is super lightweight but seems to have cured her
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm Matt from New Orleans:

You’re missing some punctuation. S.O.U.L. One of the most obnoxious band name spellings in our search engine age.
Avatar 10:26pm Kris Holmes:

Ha, true. Sounds Of Urban Living
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm JtotheK:

I haven't done any record shopping at area stores in months. But did procure the Soul 'Can You Feel It' LP from area store discogs page, took a chance on a not great condition copy but it plays great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm JtotheK:

Welcome back Mr Holmes, hi everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Matt from New Orleans:

Hi Jason. I like both their albums.
Avatar 10:28pm Kris Holmes:

Hi Jason. That's cool. I like it when things like that work out.
Avatar 10:30pm northguineahills:

I got some cdrs from WFMU a few weeks ago, other then that, I've only got what musicians have given me in person as a gift (I'm rather skint).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Matt from New Orleans:

Is there something special about the Fontana issue of Jamie to justify the outrageous prices vs the US original issue?
Avatar 10:34pm northguineahills:

(in the beforetime).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm Matt from New Orleans:

I’m enjoying the shaming
Avatar 10:36pm northguineahills:

I used to play sound fx records when I had a cat, and my cthulhlu, was the cat super confused (especially the bird call records).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm Matt from New Orleans:

Are you going to have to drive there and back again?
Avatar 10:43pm northguineahills:

I once drove I-10 from Jacksonville to San Diego, only stopping at San Antonio (had to see the historic sites there). But I was still in uni, and youthy, never again).
Avatar 10:43pm Kris Holmes:

I believe we'll be doing the drop in El Paso, roughly half way. But not 100% sure yet.
Avatar 10:44pm Kris Holmes:

The 10 is brutal
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm Matt from New Orleans:

Indeed especially in the summer
Avatar 10:46pm northguineahills:

yeah the stretch from SA to CA is (beautifully monotonous). On the way back, I stopped in El Paso and went to Ciudad Juarez (starting my love affair w/ Mexico). (oddly, the ugliest city in Mexico I've ever been)>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm Matt from New Orleans:

My good friend Ari grew up in El Paso. His family owns the music store that sells to all the schools in that area and Las Cruces.
  10:47pm Carmichael:

Heya Kris and covidians.
Avatar 10:48pm northguineahills:

super dope, Matt!
  10:48pm Carmichael:

Go where you wanna go,
Do what you wanna wanna do ...
Avatar 10:48pm Kris Holmes:

Also, we realise that saying "The" 10 is a holdover from our time in LA, no one else says "The", it's just I-10 or 10, unlike The 405 or the 101, weird.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm Matt from New Orleans:

I went and visited him in college in the summer in the late 90s. It was pretty boring and hot. The only cool thing we did was driving out to Carlsbad Caverns which had some excellent natural air conditioning.
Avatar 10:51pm Kris Holmes:

Juarez is a real contrast as you pass by
Avatar 11:00pm northguineahills:

@Kris: when things go back to normal, try the drive to Monterrey (I believe it's about 4-5 hours, my wife used to go to SA from there for shows when she was in uni). It's like TX, but nicer, and the cartel problem disappeared 7 years ago. Found some many good rekkids there, and there are some cool clubs that attract decent bands and djs (myself, notwithstanding). (most people speak English).
Avatar 11:02pm Kris Holmes:

nice, I just got my passport again so that is a great idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm Matt from New Orleans:

Did you have to go through Murray? I’m sure he fucked it up if you did.
Avatar 11:05pm Kris Holmes:

hahahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm chresti:

Thanks for the tunes, Kris! Good night everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Matt from New Orleans:

Night Chresti
Avatar 11:16pm Kris Holmes:

thanks Chresti
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Matt from New Orleans:

I only became aware of him from Numero
Avatar 11:20pm Kris Holmes:

Yeah, their Prix, Capsoul etc Columbus comps turned a lot of people on to those artists
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Matt from New Orleans:

I’m way more familiar with her gospel music
Avatar 11:32pm Kris Holmes:

she was an artist i slept on for the longest time
Avatar 11:34pm Franco Twinkie:

Hot, hot topic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm Matt from New Orleans:

I have some questions for you Franco but I’m too tired now. I’ll bother you during Danny’s show. It’s about a restaurant in Glendale. Nothing personal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36pm Matt from New Orleans:

I’m putting the phone down. Have a good night everyone. I’ll continue listening.
Avatar 11:37pm Kris Holmes:

Night Matt!
Avatar 11:52pm northguineahills:

I can't eat simple carborhydrates, dairy, and random preservatives, except the latter, I occasionally eat the the former two and suffer the consequences. I only cook vegan, even though I'm an omnivore, but I don't really have recipes, as I cook from memory.
Avatar 11:52pm Franco Twinkie:

Thursday,copy that.
Avatar 11:54pm northguineahills:

If I can put any of my dishes in writing (mostly Mexican-East Asian fusion), meat can be added, I'll send some to Kris.
Avatar 11:57pm Kris Holmes:

great, thanks!
Avatar 11:58pm Franco Twinkie:

I said to Chresti "They're talking about southern dessert!" With a mouth full of toothpaste she said "I'm not interested, it probably has marshmallows in it." Sheesh!
Avatar 11:58pm northguineahills:

oh, I got a good recipe, that's easy. I'll try to write it out tomorrow night (it's time for unconsciousness), Oaxacan udon noodles...
Avatar 11:59pm Franco Twinkie:

!?!
Avatar 11:59pm Kris Holmes:

Chresti doesn't like marshmallow?
Avatar 11:59pm northguineahills:

Gracias kris y compadres!'

@Franco: Japanese-Mexican fusion.....
Avatar 11:59pm Franco Twinkie:

Thankee!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00am coelacanth∅:

Thanks Kris! 'night all.
