Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05am Mr. Pumpy:

Exorcise sinner...exorcise!
  12:05am mr_donutsu:

I wonder if he did a 90 minute live version of this one cut at some point lost in time.
  12:07am $mall ¢hange:

John Lee Hooker ended up in his later years in my home town of all places. Long Beach CA. from what I read a min ago
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am Mr. Pumpy:

$¢...you hit the ground running this mornin'
Avatar 12:08am slugluv1313:

greetings, $mall ¢hange, skeletons, Aitch, mariano, Mr. Pumpy, sinner, mr_donutsu, everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12am Mr. Pumpy:

slug...I saw your last message. Sounds like a good group to be a part of, and yes...SURVIVORS! I'm envious that you can get together in a group with people you can relate to.
  12:12am BH:

Long Beach has quite a few people and groups where somebody could say they ended up "in Long Beach of all places"... but all of that probably makes the place a lot more fun too?
  12:13am $mall ¢hange:

its not the worst town. its all fancy pants now
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am mariano:

Oh hey Mr. P (and sinner, slugluv, BH, mr_donutsu).
Avatar 12:18am Feldpausch:

Totally feeling this show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am sinner:

Who's got the absinthe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am mariano:

So what makes the whoops? Can't remember if we've discussed it here before. Is it a portable device, some kind of space helmet, perhaps a harness of some kind?
Avatar 12:20am slugluv1313:

@ Mr. Pumpy -- WFMU is like that too, strangely therapeutic and SANE, while being in the midst of so much insanity & totally UN-relatable people
  12:21am BH:

I got the sense from the one time I was in California (in San Diego County) that basically everything within a certain distance of the ocean was expensive
Avatar 12:21am slugluv1313:

ugh, no absinthe, just not-so-great Arak :(
  12:23am $mall ¢hange:

LBC has gotten a LOT more expensive its crazy. but I guess that's everywhere
  12:24am $mall ¢hange:

the efx are a japanese reggae box. analog. bought from deadly dragon sound when they had a shop in nyc
  12:26am tom k:

i was in long beach today actually. good city.
  12:27am $mall ¢hange:

bagatelle records is good if you're there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am mariano:

Ohh interesting! Japanese reggae box: I'd buy one based on the name alone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Mr. Pumpy:

slug, I feel ya!
  12:30am $mall ¢hange:

yeah its quality. it rarely leaves the house tbh. I bring it to wfmu ofc duh haha. yall know prob too much
  12:30am tom k:

fingerprints 4 life
  12:31am $mall ¢hange:

yup another good one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am mndave:

killer set $¢
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am mariano:

Us, know too much? Oh really, $mall ¢hange, that's absurd. So... are there any times when the reggae box might be, oh I don't know, left unguarded, say? Asking for no reason, just making small talk.
  12:39am gonedungIT:

Is it possible to turn it up
  12:39am $mall ¢hange:

well I used to bring it to gigs and even took it on a plane and it got fucked up. but the dude who makes them was so ill that (via Jeremy at Deadly Dragon) I mailed it back to the guy in Japan and he fixed it. and then it broke at some point again and I had my man in BK fix it. so now a lil more careful haha
  12:44am gonedungIT:

They’re scared
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am mariano:

Yeah, my Genesis P. Orridge Buddha machine I got as an FMU premium around 2010 (I think) barely makes a sound anymore. I took it to Quintron's electronics shop but he couldn't do anything with it, sadly.
  12:47am $mall ¢hange:

a shame. yeah old electronics sometimes doesn't age well. delicate machines haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55am Stanley:

Hi $mall ¢hange.
One good thing about my sleep being fucked up is getting to listen to shows at this time of day/night.
Avatar 12:56am slugluv1313:

Juju <3
Avatar 12:56am slugluv1313:

@ Stanley -- hell yeah! same here!
  12:57am $mall ¢hange:

sleep is both underrated and overrated. but no stress the archives are always there
  12:58am $mall ¢hange:

Oneness of Juju one of those groups. so many good records
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am chaos_in_la_la:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59am Mr. Pumpy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01am Stanley:

Thanks $mall ¢hange. I like to listen live but I fill in with dem archives when the schedule goes a bit flat for me.
I'll be adding your show to the list.
This some good juju.

  1:14am $mall ¢hange:

this is where I found it via twitter:

  1:17am $mall ¢hange:

I-Roy one of my faves. again, so many good records
  1:20am BH:

  1:22am $mall ¢hange:

Avatar 1:35am slugluv1313:

soooooo cool this set
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35am mariano:

Oh yeah, Mockingbird. Then there was the Congress for Cultural Freedom.

Agree, slugluv.
Avatar 1:39am slugluv1313:

been listening to this clip from Ms. Angela Davis a LOT . . . when feeling daunted, overwhelmed by all the evil crap going on -- she keeps me grounded, inspired, motivated -- to KEEP ON PUSHING: youtu.be...
  1:40am $mall ¢hange:

Angela Davis <3 <3 <3
Avatar 1:47am slugluv1313:

always looked up to her like she was the brilliant, cool, super-accomplished, older-sister-i-never-had, but had NO idea that we *almost* share a birth date
  1:47am BH:

*checks Wikipedia*
hey, Jordan Peterson isn't in a coma anymore.. okay.
  1:54am $mall ¢hange:

nice Slugluv thats wild. Jordan Peterson...one of those special ones. deserves all the hate haha. anyways RIP Michael Brooks. gone too soon
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56am chaos_in_la_la:

  2:07am sufferwords:

Now that’s what ya call some real life radio- massive set $€
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09am sinner:

Preach it.
  2:09am tullius:

naked communist prop broadcast, noted. at least the masks are off. hope you like the dividends
  2:10am $mall ¢hange:

has to be better then what is offered now haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11am mariano:

Yes, you've discovered our lair, curses!
  2:11am $mall ¢hange:

but its all good I argue enough on FB. ain't gonna argue here. fuck this world tho
  2:12am sufferwords:

Gotta hear shit even if only to have a basis to disagree with it- let em have their say- enlightening in the truest sense-
  2:14am BH:

like communism is organized enough in 2020 to give dividends
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14am sinner:

naked communist prop broadcast, doo-dah, doo-dah. From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs. Hallelujah.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15am mariano:

I do find the idea of *naked* communist propaganda intriguing though...
  2:17am $mall ¢hange:

ez BH you were already off on Nicaragua ;)
Avatar 2:23am Mike W:

proper late night radio
Avatar 2:26am slugluv1313:

@ sufferwords -- true -- as a friend said while Michale Savage was bellowing on her car radio, "KNOW YOUR ENEMIES!"
(we were on our way to see Jane Goodall! she was giving the commencement speech at Douglass College)
  2:27am tullius:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36am sinner:

"Dividends" is stock market talk. Irrelevant.
  2:38am sufferwords:

Jane Goodall is a badass
  2:40am BH:

presumably the political stock market has as much relation to the political economy as the real stock market to the real economy
  2:40am tullius:

Relevant, because this is not about the stock market. If nouns are at issue for you, substitute "fruits", or "chickens, or "apples", or most appropriately, "nuts".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42am mariano:

But what kinds of nuts? And should we include, for example, peanuts, which are in fact legumes?
  2:43am $mall ¢hange:

as JB said...'stock market going up...jobs going down...'

ain't that the truth. Bezos adds 13B while we can't get rent relief.

as stated...fuck this world
  2:43am sufferwords:

we put up with a lotta shit us Americans in exchange for one overriding principal - fair and equal treatment under the law- you ain’t offering that then i’m not buying the rest of it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Left FMU on while sleeping - woke up to major truth bombs. Desperate to Dump Drumpf in the election year - but I appreciate not being allowed to go back to asleep about neoliberalism letting go of the Left. Having to hold one"s nose in the voting booth is not @ all some new thing - but that doesn't mean I think we need to go there with blinders or a gag...
  2:45am sufferwords:

General nationwide strike declared for the first Tuesday in November - the handiest tool available right now
Avatar 2:47am RabidRabbit:

If I might chime in here. The stock market in itself is not a bad thing as it helps to more efficiently allocate the resources in the economy.

However, there's a lot of crap that goes along with it that solely exists for the purpose of making money for the participants with nil social benefit. I would go so far as to say that I would actually ban all financial instruments more complicated than a simple futures contract:)
  2:48am $mall ¢hange:

'you ain’t offering that then i’m not buying the rest of it'

I don't think amerikkka is offering that atm
  2:49am tullius:

See, there's much common ground here, but communism/socialism is not the answer to the problems. It's always failed, and not for lack of being tried, and not for lack of trying "real" communism.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49am sinner:

@tullius: true. My last name is Nutt.
  2:49am $mall ¢hange:

'It's always failed'

super brainwashing haha

they killed it come on
  2:50am tullius:

I know Kevin. All aside, I've always enjoyed your show, very unique.
Avatar 2:53am RabidRabbit:

The problem with communism (not the same thing as socialism) is not the government involvement per se, it's the fact that you can't vote the government out. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, sadly :(
Avatar 2:54am slugluv1313:

Jane Goodall, Angela Davis -- yes the very definition of BADASS! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

If the Workers aren't ruling themselves - it ain't Communism.
If the people aren't ruling themselves - it aint Democracy.
The rest is Orwellian word games.
Who believes pledging allegiance to an Ism is going to solve all our problems?
Why should one key open all locks?
As Martin King said we have socialism for the rich & rugged individualism for the poor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am mariano:

Huh. Meanwhile, in other parts of the world like Western Europe, socialist governments get voted in and out all the time, even forming coalitions with communists, and the sky has yet to fall.
  2:54am sufferwords:

that one person is in need and there is still a penny left in the church coffers - rent freeze now
  2:56am BH:

I think there's plenty of history to suggest that Socialists and Communists don't typically get along. Good thing there's 5 minutes left to dodge the whole Social Democracy vs Socialist labeling thing this week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56am mariano:

Thanks $mall ¢hange and crew, have a glorious revolutionary night's sleep, fellow travelers!
Avatar 2:56am RabidRabbit:

I'm in favor of a Scandi-style welfare society - high taxes and high level of social safety nets, basically:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes we want to avoid a One Party system. If I have to land on an Ism I guess it's Democratic Socialism. The Democratic part is essential. But who thinks we have that here now?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am mariano:

...and don't forget to check under your beds for reds, kiddies ;)
Avatar 2:57am slugluv1313:

as my Dad would say (as Watergate raged) -- "They're all a buncha crooks!"
  2:57am $mall ¢hange:

'Absolute power corrupts absolutely'

have you taken a look at capitalism? and not what the media tells you it is. what it actually is.
  2:58am BH:

It's sorta weird how Sweden became the ideal for some people on COVID (people who leave out some parts of what Sweden did that they wouldn't do)
  2:58am $mall ¢hange:

communism is bread lines right?

Avatar 2:58am slugluv1313:

hah! at one job i had in the 80s, we had a poster in the powder room -- "Are there Bolsheviks in your bathroom?"
Avatar 2:59am RabidRabbit:

Ahaha, don't get me wrong. For sure, there's heaps that's wrong with capitalism (especially with American capitalism). Definitely hope you guys can keep fighting the good fight to make US sane again! :) *fistbump*

@slug - AHAHAHA:)
Avatar 2:59am slugluv1313:

fantastic show, $mall ¢hange! glad i was here to listen LIVE :)
Avatar 3:00am RabidRabbit:

Luckily they didn't know about UNISEX bathrooms in those days...they would have had kittens :P
Avatar 3:01am RabidRabbit:

Good night to all! Thanks $mall change and everyone :)
