"Salute to the lake by two giant holed spoons at the end of the road"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:02pm redkayak:

Hey everyone! Hope all are well...
Avatar 3:03pm fred:

Good evening David and all. Is that pic part of an art installation?
Avatar 3:03pm Really. Lisa.:

Hello David and everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm doctorjazz:

Hello Riders!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm redkayak:

Looks like the circus left town and they forgot some tent stakes? BIG tents....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm David Dichelle:

Ahoy out there βrian, Yvang, Redkayak, Fred, Lisa, Doc!
Avatar 3:05pm βrian:

"The Happy Handful"??

I thought Michele's show was over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm David Dichelle:

One of those art objects out near lakes and other places around here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm Yvang:

E pericoloso sporgersi.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm redkayak:

@David - Where are we headed captain?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Bas NL:

Hello David! Subwaynistas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm David Dichelle:

Good evening, Bas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm David Dichelle:

Redkayak: Off to sea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm dutchtheo:

How ya David, and subway passengers, Sláinte
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm David Dichelle:

Greetings, Dutchtheo!
Avatar 3:09pm fred:

Cool, there's not much "random" art stuff around here, it tends to come with some serious dedication
Avatar 3:09pm Sem:

Hello, David, and all aboard.

Caught a great blue heron by surprise on my morning walk: it was in an apple tree, rubbing the sleep out of its eyes. Less serene than usual, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm David Dichelle:

Hey Sem, hopefully it has now found its way back to a more meditative state.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm redkayak:

@Sem - A heron in an apple tree.....sounds like an omen!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Bas NL:

Intriguing picture.. It's a bit like they had enough of each other.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm David Dichelle:

Fred: We do seem to have quite an abundance of this sort of thing.
Avatar 3:13pm Sem:

@redkayak, I'll keep you posted on any unusual events.
Though it's be tough to perceive what is unusual these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm David Dichelle:

Bas: Two paddles to our imaginary boat?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm redkayak:

@Sem - Brother, that's for sure....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm dutchtheo:

What dialect is this,?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm David Dichelle:

That was Middle High German (Walther von der Vogelweide)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm chris:

hi, David and folks. this Tri Yann track is a banger!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Bas NL:

Ahh.. and raised in unison! Oh yes; le loup et le renard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm David Dichelle:

Hey Chris!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Yvang:

This one by Tri Yann has long become the official hymn of brittany
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm David Dichelle:

Not quite the official hymn of Poland, but neverthless...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Bas NL:

Beautiful harmony!
Avatar 3:21pm northguineahills:

Soumded good in the car!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm David Dichelle:

Heya, NGH!
Avatar 3:26pm Brian in UK:

Hello David and survivors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Mark Hurst:

Hello David!
Avatar 3:27pm Brian in UK:

Holy spoons, Batman, is that a bird sanctuary.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Mark Hurst:

You could string a pretty nice volleyball net between them
Avatar 3:29pm Brian in UK:

Sem, I surprised a heron the other week cycling cross country by some water. Great sight when they take off, seem so gangly but elegant.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm David Dichelle:

Hello Brian and Mark!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm dutchtheo:

If you pull really hard on both ends it will inflate a giant rubber boat
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm David Dichelle:

Volleyball would work, one side would be a meter or two below the other side, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm redkayak:

@dutchtheo - that's it - - a giant slingshot left over from the war?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm David Dichelle:

And yes, the picture also reflects the current drought.
Avatar 3:32pm Brian in UK:

dutchtheo, did you spot anything in the sky on Saturday?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm dutchtheo:

No, Brian, no comet visible, i saw a nice picture of Liverpool with the comet
Avatar 3:37pm Sem:

Yes, Brian. Seems singularly cluimsy in very early flight, but at altitude, a thing of a certain kind of beauty.
Avatar 3:37pm northguineahills:

In FL I spotted the ISS, and all of the visible planets (Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Venus and Mercury), and last week I saw Neowise. (night skies here are either hazy from humidity or cloudy, but midnight to 3am you might get a decent glimpse. I got lucky w/ the comet, a high pressure came through and the sky was crystal clear)>
Avatar 3:39pm Brian in UK:

We are south-east facing with an upward slope behind us, so not sure how good the view would be. Tomorrow is supposed to be the closest it will be.

ngh, an eye opener.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm redkayak:

We got a couple glimpses of the comet despite the light pollution. Even visible (barely) w/ naked eye...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm David Dichelle:

We'll have to find a good place to look for it. How much longer will it be visible?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm redkayak:

earthsky.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm redkayak:

Right below Big Dipper....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm David Dichelle:

Just after sunset, though. I'm off...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Carmichael:

Heya David and diaspora.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Michael 98145:

well, okay !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm David Dichelle:

Well hey, Carmichael and Michael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm David Dichelle:

Okay, I guess I should have a look at the comet another time, after all. Thanks for the link, RK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm redkayak:

@David - Happy star gazing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, maybe we should see if that telescope works after all. It may be hard to see from the city, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm chresti:

Hi David and Continentals! Home from work,,
Avatar 4:23pm Sem:

Love Bill Frisell on anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm David Dichelle:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm chresti:

Kind of busy, David, it's like the weekend every day there, these days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Stanley:

Hi David. I've leaped aboard.
Sem - on toast?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, Michael!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm David Dichelle:

'Evening, Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Michael 98145:

Up here, folks seem to be drowning themselves in the cold waters
Avatar 4:34pm Sem:

Ha, nothing gets by your rapier-like wit, Stanley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Stanley:

I'll get my coat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm David Dichelle:

Michael, hopefully not literally.
Avatar 4:38pm Brian in UK:

What-ho, Stanley, has the swelling gone down? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Michael 98145:

Actually, yes. The lakes, rivers and ocean are colder than many expect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm chris:

Rypdal with a face melter here. nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Stanley:

Yes it has, Brian
(He said knowingly)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Stanley:

That Terje Rypdal was a bit of a zinger.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Jeff Golick:

Did somebody say "jazz?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Jeff Golick:

Or maybe it was a stifled sneeze.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm David Dichelle:

Hey Jeff, might have been the squeaky brakes on this thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm doctorjazz:

I saw the Blues for Lulu band way back when...also The Tiny Bell Trio, Dave Douglas' take on Eastern European music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, Dr. J., I'll take that as a recommendation.
Avatar 5:19pm Brian in UK:

Thanks, David. Gotta go.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm David Dichelle:

Thank you, Brian, have a good night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm David Dichelle:

The birds are now setting out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm doctorjazz:

Almost can't foo wrong with anything by Dave Douglas. Could look for that Tiny Bell Trio CD, sure it's in the racks somewhere...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm David Dichelle:

Thanks Dr. J.!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm David Dichelle:

This piece is, by the way, based on this 12th-century Persian poem: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm doctorjazz:

OK, time to leave lovely Staten Island, thanks, David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm David Dichelle:

Safe travels, Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm David Dichelle:

And now for something completely? different.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Bas NL:

Both great songs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm David Dichelle:

It is from Viñao's Sonetos de Amor, based on Pablo Neruda's love songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm chris:

gorgeous show, David. sadly, must hop off the subway here. see ya next time, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, Chris, take good care!
Avatar 5:47pm Sem:

And this is my stop, also. Thank you, DD, for the pleasure of the music you choose, and the company you keep. Later.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm David Dichelle:

Thank you as well, Sem! Pulling into that last station now...
Avatar 5:50pm northguineahills:

Thanks David! Daniel Kahn, new to me, and digdug! (Is he American?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm chresti:

See you all on the next trip!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Stanley:

It was a fun ride, thanks David.
