Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm olivia:

thanks for joining in today everybody. good to see you

That last track sounded like it was from a 80s highschool social studies film about traveling around Europe
  3:20pm fern:

(good!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Compare Blues which all our beloved forms devolve from to African Music that doesn't reflect Slavery. Altho' the continuity of Slavery - Feudalism - Capitalism (Marx) is our common experience.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm mariano:

Hi Olivia and all. Ooh, I like a dimly lit place!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm Handy Haversack:

I'm so glad to hear new performances of Robert Ashley pieces. Thanks Olivia!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43pm olivia:

had a lot of conversations with Adriene of The Blind Tourist over this past weekend, and we were sharing pieces back and forth, so this show is hugely indebted to her!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm Handy Haversack:

olivia, I was thinking how it reminded me of Blind Tourist shows. I miss adriene's show already!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:47pm Carmichael:

I had a hot dog for lunch. I hope I'm still allowed into the pasta fest!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm olivia:

I'll allow it Carmichael - so long as you breathe in through your nose and don't get yer hot dog breath on us
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm mariano:

Yeah, same here Handy, couldn't quite figure it out though. Great set all around, Olivia.
  3:52pm Bruce Soffer:

Hi Olivia & All- Thanks so much for introducing us to Aurelie. I had never heard of her. I am a visual art curator- keeping my eyes and ears open. The little research I just did as her piece was aired added much to my consciousness. As ususual your selects are a treasure. My Best- Bruce
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Tinted windows,2 options mostly, street gang member or police gang member.
  4:00pm Tim In SF:

Olivia: tinted windows: not good for pedestrians and cyclists...but they are everywhere here in SF
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Carmichael:

You got a deal, Olivia!

@ami, no, I slowly and lovingly contemplated each bite.
Avatar 4:01pm Heidee:

Ji Olivia, it's 10 pm here in Europe and outside is dusk-ing. My f.lux app has come on and I am enjyoing it in the shade as well... Love your show!

New Moon in Cancer earlier.
Bumpin' version Phil Ochs.
  4:03pm Tim In SF:

@Carmichael: Yes, one hot dog every once in awhile is good. I never buy a whole pack, cause after a week or so I'm good for a few months.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

  4:10pm ami ad:

@ Carmichael:Ah,the gentle way, nice, hope each bite tasted better. keep calm and bite along.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm joe mulligan:

I rode in three of the NY Justice rides and they were pretty moving. going through harlem and all the residents cheering makes you well up.
  4:11pm ami ad:

This Puff is for Winter, can't wait.
  4:13pm Tim In SF:

@Joe mulligan: sounds "moving" as you say. Not sure if that was intentional. Reminds me of a car caravan few weeks ago, and of course Critical Mass is Sf last Friday of every month.
  4:19pm Chantelle:

hi Olivia :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:22pm joe mulligan:

Hi @Tim, haha yes, moving in more ways than one for sure. yes I did think of the Critical Mass rides in SF, and how these rides for freedom are exponentially larger. from the top of flatbush you could see all bikes on the road all the way to barclay's center. about 7/10 of a mile and 5,000 bikers that day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm Ike:

BSG (Ron Moore version, 2004) was a great show, though I found the ending very disappointing. First 2.5 seasons were brilliant, lots of interesting murky questions of morality, fanaticism, identity, etc., but Moore needed a real "plan" for the story and didn't ultimately seem to have one.
  4:27pm Tim In SF:

@Joe...Wish I could have been on my bike for one of those with you. At the very least see all those bikes in one place. At Night? all those flashing rear reflectors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm olivia:

hi Chantelle :)
  4:27pm ami ad:

@mariano:Seen the picture of Mark Zuckerfuck surfing on a $12,000 board in Hawaii?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm joe mulligan:

@ami yes and Kai Lenny (pro WSL surfer) from Kauai was his guide. I was actually impressed the Zuck could hold onto a foil board (electric or not) in some bumpy water, but the photos on "kook of the day" are hilarious.. zuck had full face of white zinc so they put a side-by-side pic of Cesar Romero (1960s Joker) from the batman surfing episode
  4:36pm ami ad:

Mark ZuckerBot. What a douche. Looks like death is trying to enjoy life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm joe mulligan:

@Tim the rides are in the afternoon, you can see lots of clips under the @streetridersnyc IG acct or the #streetridersnyc hashtag. a few have gone till dark - the one that went to Coney Island. Maybe they have some in SF too?
  4:42pm Tim In SF:

@Joe: Thanks, I'll check that out and see what's happening here.
  4:43pm Tim In SF:

Olivia: I love the sound coming out of my speakers right now .
Presence. Thank you
  4:45pm Jon:

I want to sit in the cola chair
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm olivia:

word tim in SF!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Ike:

Ha! This is great!
  4:48pm C Lav:

Happy to hear people are still making messy & dumb plunderphonics trax (truly!)
  4:48pm Tim In SF:

@Ike; agree sort of like playing around with a dial on the clock radio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Handy Haversack:

@Rev Rab (4:09) various kinds of that are constants for us.
  4:57pm ami ad:

Sweet sounds from the magic factory.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm olivia:

agreed Smurph!!
  5:07pm ian:

great set so far
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Handy Haversack:

My commute was one of my main reading times. I miss it. Harder to carve out the time now. I have that rarest of things for me -- a backlog. And the new issue of Salvage just arrived. Plus, all the table-top RPG gaming stuff from ZineQuest 2 has started to arrive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Ernst Unding:

Another good accompaniment to Anna Tsing's book is Donna Haraway's "Staying with the Trouble"
  5:11pm C Lav:

Fellow goths are sad that Halloween isn't going to happen in it's full form this year, but at least we can listen to spooky music like this Ben Bertrand track
  5:12pm ami ad:

Can't even try to think when was the last time i had an actual ravioli. Didn't eat much the past few years/months. smoke and drink.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm olivia:

hahaha C Lav!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm olivia:

ami ad.... i think someone made some ravioli at the marathon, that was my last encounter!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Handy Haversack:

Rough, ami ad. (Not that I am disparaging smoke and drink!)
  5:20pm ami ad:

Food is a daily problem for years. Tried the soylent drink a few times, biotech, nasty on all levels. Had some bites of a good sandwich this morning,a cheese sandwich for lunch, and beers and smokes. arggh,is a no good.
  5:22pm Tim In SF:

@ami ad: whatcha smoking? I read that researchers are looking into cannabis as a potential COVID-19 treatment.
Avatar 5:22pm Heidee:

Oh, this is so... deep...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Handy Haversack:

Feel for you, ami ad.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm Brian D:

Wow. This is sweeeeeeeeet. Wish I didn't have to work right now.
Avatar 5:24pm Heidee:

Brian D., me too - but it improves it...
  5:25pm ami ad:

@ Tim In SF: Cali. smokeable chocolates. Cannabis helps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Brian D:

In my case, it can only get better @Heidee.
  5:30pm ami ad:

@ Tim In SF: Had Lyme disease in the past, was in a army too, cannabis helped me through a lot(hash is best). but over the years i found that alcohol is the best pain killer. Cheers to Cannabis.(and beer, and vodka)
  5:30pm ami ad:

and music,and WFMU.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Yes:

im going for a swim . taking this mood with me. thanks olivia
  5:32pm Tim In SF:

@ami ad Cannabis might even be a prophylactic. If that's the case, I will do my part to help stop COVID. Whatever it takes. at the end of the day of altruism I say pot more smoke. Yes to music and FMU and friends on the comment board.
Avatar 5:32pm Heidee:

ami ad, מריע לך !
  5:35pm ian:

I'm glad this crisis is helping raise people's awareness that having a job is a burden and not a privelege. so many people discovering themselves
  5:35pm ami ad:

@ Tim In SF: smoke 'em if you got 'em. @Heidee:Thank you kindly, wow, super duper. Cheers all. JobLess.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm ParUbi:

It's a new moon, right RRN?
  5:38pm ian:

this is the kind of set that validates the whole concept of a human DJ as opposed to some stochastic algorithms
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm ultradamno:

I don't want to be gauche but someone beat your playlist black and blue
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Carmichael:

My next band will be Stochastic Algorithms.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm YETI BOB:

anyone remember the 70s BBC comedy "The Rise and Fall of Reginald Perrin"? (maybe deservedly fogotten....). In Episode 1 there's a scene where Reg goes into a restaurant and orders Ravioli, Ravioli, and Ravioli ... something about this radio show reminded me of that
  5:43pm ami ad:

The 70s? When was that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh yeah always into BritComs - Reggie & his remake too. Very everyman existential. Watching as a kid in the 70s even...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm olivia:

ah i would love to see the clip YETTI BOB
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Handy Haversack:

New moon was this morning, eastern U.S. time, ParUbi, I think? Currents have been nutty in the East River the last couple of days.

YB: saw your note earlier on Chicago River paddling -- sounds great. When next I am in Chicago, you best believe you have a partner for such explorations!

Milwaukee also looks supremely explorable for the urban paddler.
  5:45pm Tim In SF:

@RRN: "Are you being served?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm YETI BOB:

Olivia - here it is. www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm YETI BOB:

A bit of context - Reg is a super-repressed office worker who is bored with life and is starting to crack up. This is him "cutting loose"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes :

- New Moon a few hours ago - Waxing phase started - now in Leo. But there's the Sun-Saturn Opposition right here. Astronomically means Saturn will be high on the sky round midnight...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm brainiac:

Thank you for the Full Catastrophe today, Olivia. I thoroughly enjoyed being served.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm YETI BOB:

I'm not even claiming it was a good show - but it had some memorable/funny scenes. A lot of it was pretty cringey though.
