OMG I have this Dick Schory record. One of those things I bought at a garage sale for 25¢, decades ago, because of the outrageous cover art.

TDK have some of mine, reheating some doggie bag breakfast from yesterday morning: a nice porkchop., grits, two eggs, roasted potatoes and a cat-head biscuit. part of my on-going left-over diner food reviews called "Out-Takes"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am YETI BOB:

@Terr in DE: (1) is DE Delaware or Deutschland? (2) It's hard for me to judge the intent - but looking at the cover of the Dick Schory album, or the title of Gus Vali's album - it's hard to think any of this was intended seriously.
Avatar 9:22am TDK60:

Joe, this music is heating up the space age pad here. Gotta get the AC on..

@Handy:Not going outside today again, for sure. @TDK60:Cheers. Zywiec is better anyway. Hardy appetite.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am Matt Fiveash:

You're thinking of What's Up Doc with Babs and Ryan O'Neal. Which I saw for the first time recently and was really wacky and fun.
  9:41am Bill W:

Streisand wanted Sidney Poitier to co-star with her in THE OWL AND THE PUSSYCAT, but settled for George Segal.
  9:42am Teresa D Lee:

Quick Google says The Owl and the Pussycat was a play in the mid 60s and the Streisand film was actually out ni 1970. But also that it's watchable on Amazon/Youtube. Thanks for the tip and some awesome Herbie Mann and John Berberian music!

Ha, ami, if that was recent, I didn't hear anything. But NYPD boats were on *go* on Friday afternoon. I assumed they had a bridge-crossing protest to loom at since there was nothing coming over the Coast Guard radio about any PIW (person in the water).

Joe, I assume you've heard "Cinderella" by Jack Ross? Came out in 1962. That Archie Campbell must be a knock-off--imitating Ross's original but not as funny!

I'm going to go record and state that when I first started working a formal full-time job back in the '80s, the Telex machine was still in full use

Dylan famously awful at playing the oud. And his ocarina stylings are pedestrian at best.

Campbell did rip it off and claimed songwriting credit! But Ross wrote it, or at least came up with the idea. Wait until you hear the Ross original -- it is a LAFF RIOT.

Nice, Mike Sin! Very cool. Sitting next to you during Todd's last Marathon show, I was like, this Mike Sin is *going places*!

Joe, I have to meeting. Hope to make it back before noon, but you never know. Fantastic show today. A real McGasker! Thanks.

so funny and true how a Joe gets used to hearing "where you going with that gun in your hand." and often there's another person in the group looking horrified because they don't catch the jimi hendrix reference.
  11:09am Dean:

Mr. Joe B.: I asked on a comment board yesterday, but didn't get a response. Are you related to Harry Belock, the engineer/inventor/polymath who operated Everest Recordings?

Thanks. Just curious. Everest did some amazing work way back when. For example, I read a review published in May/June of this year of a new recording of a Mahler symphony. The reviewer made a point of referring to Adrian Boult's 1958 Everest recording of Mahler's first, noting that it's "still sounding good."

@HH: I invited a friend of mine, who is an avid cyclist but not a paddler, to go out with me on my kayak this weekend. We paddled a bit down the Chicago River, but he was ready to turn back long before I was - his cycle-enthusiasm did not immediately translate into kayak-enthusiasm, and he felt a bit awkward in the boat. So we only went about a mile and a half (toward downtown) before turning back. Pretty uneventful trip but we saw some cute baby ducks and a HUGE barge. Hats off to my friend for his willingness to try something new on a moment's notice, but I'm still looking for a paddling partner (I don't imagine he'll want to do it again).
Avatar 11:26am Jennica:

@YETI BOB: I will go when I'm in Chicago. I used to paddle on the Potomac, pick an island (when the river wasn't too high), and pitch a tent for the night. Music. Crap Beer. Chillax. It was heavenly.
