Hi Mr. Fab! playing the Mothership channel tonight!
Avatar 8:41pm Mr Fab:

Hey Henry, how do i "unfinish" a playlist? I hit finish by accident.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:48pm Gary:

Click "Change Playlist Info" and then click on "In-progress"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm Gary:

You'll need to first be in the Edit Playlist section of the show. From there you should be able to click on "Change Playlist Info" up to the top, left-ish
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:00pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

Looking forward to this!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:01pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15pm Rory:

Law? You said law? Haha! Hello, all!
Avatar 9:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Do you like Soul music?
No.
...Then do the Trouser Press baby.
  9:18pm Elle Tor's Husband:

The great Kenneth Williams from the great BBCRadio show"Round The Horne" love it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:19pm mariano:

Hey Mr Fab, crew, peoples of all nations!
Swag For Life Member 9:19pm Tim in TN:

Mr Fab sounding fantastic on the Mother Ship!
Avatar 9:20pm Cp304:

Good evening peoples. Rockin in the kitchen with yas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm Otis Fodder:

Now this is music! I even bet'cha the Old Codger would agree. Can Can everyone!
  9:24pm Elle Tor's Husband:

Never realized the bit was called the "Butch Brothers"- a BBC weekly dive into Gay Camp in 1965. Really funny stuff. They were always introduced as different professionals bel ending on the story and proceed to burn the place down with Gay sex double entendres - Britain was so far ahead of us on semi- open gayness " Round The Horne" is really worth a listen...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

But, would Lolabelle approve? The Can Can is rather saucy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Rory:

I fully endorse that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Otis Fodder:

Hopey, you are correct. We will have to inquire with Lolabelle on Thursday.
Avatar 9:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Then again it was still illegal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm Otis Fodder:

Glad you're on, Mr. Fab. I'm supposed to be listening to and livetweeting playlist for my own radio show (I'm on a college station and have been sending in pre-recorded shows for the last month), but they either didn't schedule it or the robot didn't play it again. This should cheer me up...
Avatar 9:30pm HexFamChan:

Hahaha thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Otis Fodder:

That sucks Kat. Welcome, nice to see ya!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Kat in Chicago:

Hi Otis and all you Fab people.
  9:31pm Elle Tor's Husband:

Space Lady! She was a famous San Francisco busker. Her kids were absolutely feral - like wild animals will she played roaming the perimeter looking for food. Not kidding.
  9:31pm Rev. Insänd:

blęss yøür mūsįck
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I'm sorry to hear that, Kat! I've been meaning to catch your show.
Avatar 9:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

You're on our playlist.
Avatar 9:31pm Mr Fab:

Kat, I was playing excerpts from the Donohue episode you were on! But not your parts, just the funny parts.
Avatar 9:31pm HexFamChan:

I NEED to get to know Space Lady better
Avatar 9:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...almost on our playlist...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Kat in Chicago:

Thanks, Hopey. I have the last three weeks up on my Soundcloud (link on profile), they're a little rough but listenable. My mic breaks were better this week... sigh.
Avatar 9:33pm HexFamChan:

Aww yea another Bay Area band... Listening from Alameda here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Rory:

I walked the streets of San Francisco without any tourist, it was a beautiful place. Never saw space lay in person, but many weird street musicians galore!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm Kat in Chicago:

Mr Fab, no way!!! LOLOL
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Aitch:

Hey Mr Fab, on the big stream!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Kat in Chicago:

Is this Pianosaurus?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Kat in Chicago:

Yes! Completely forgot they existed. I saw them once somewhere, they were cute.
  9:43pm Jon:

Nice set!
Avatar 9:43pm HexFamChan:

Thank you for the GABBA!!! HAHA
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Webhamster Henry:

I saw Pianosaurus at the Knit Fac Knot Room on Houston st.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

I was so surprised when I would meet people outside of SF who knew of The Space Lady.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Webhamster Henry:

Space Lady was playing live on a stream cast a few months ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm Kat in Chicago:

I appreciate that, Mr. Fab!
  9:45pm Cousin Bem:

I had a hilarious meeting with a
lady from the band Pianosaurus at a bar where she was looking up her own band on an internet connected jukebox. I think she had not encountered a fan in years. It was 2003.
  9:46pm Rory:

Ennio Morricone rip :(
Avatar 9:48pm herb.nyc:

Hey, this is a cool dj. Don't know him. But I saw Pianosaurus at Folk City. And Morricone now. I thought it was gonna be Johnny Mandel. I just read his NYTimes obituary 20mins ago.
Avatar 9:49pm herb.nyc:

Wait, this is Mr. Fab. Is it Fabio? If so, I just saw you at Earwax, 6hrs ago. How's it going, Fabio?
  9:50pm Elle Tor's Husband:

I saw Space Lady perform 15 or 20 times. She was a regular in the Haight and Castro districts. I lived on Market near Castro and she would stake out a store's doorway once the store closed down for the night. Space Lady was a fixture. You could hear that lilting vocal style a block away and it drew you in.
Avatar 9:51pm Mr Fab:

There is an unreleased Pianosaurus 3rd album. hello, record label, some one release it please? When I saw em live, the lady in the band sang one of the songs, presumably from the 3rd album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Rory:

@Elle Tor’s Husband: Cannot believe I missed it! Ugh!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Webhamster Henry:

Mr. Fab is not Fabio, not even an incredible simulation, although both play Morricone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Hopey Sockmonkey:

One of my very fondest memories of living in SF in the 80s is seeing Space Lady regularly on Market & Castro.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Kat in Chicago:

herb.nyc: Mr. Fab is head honcho of the Sheena's stream, doing a fill-in on the airwaves tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:54pm Rory:

I bought a Sun Ra shirt in a shop on Haight Street. Didn’t ask about Space Lady, but they all knew Sun Ra.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:55pm Rory:

No Blue Cheer shirts? All Grateful Dead
  9:56pm Elle Tor's Husband:

@Rory Hearing that she was recently performing on a stream tells me you may still be able to catch her live. She was a "Lifer"
Avatar 9:57pm HexFamChan:

Saw Sun Ra open for Sonic Youth in Central Park and got one of those SY popsicle shirts
Avatar 9:59pm herb.nyc:

Sorry for bad fab/fabio joke. (But I did see Fabio at his shop today). And sun ra / sonic y reminded me that I was there too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Otis Fodder:

No ducking on this show, suckers. Sounding great Mr "RIAA" Fab!
Avatar 10:00pm HexFamChan:

@herb, NICE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Kat in Chicago:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:14pm Kat in Chicago:

A friend of mine actually got pictures of it last night, Ken. I tried to find it but wasn't sure where to look, and my street might be too brightly lit anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Rory:

Got clear skies to see the comet for the moment. More thunderstorms later...
Avatar 10:16pm Mr Fab:

Wow! Looks like a great album, Henry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Webhamster Henry:

Too much glare here in Kingston to see the comet!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar 10:27pm Mr Fab:

" 20 years ago!" OUCH.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Otis Fodder:

Love George Shearing and thankful his records can still be found for super-cheap. Great around-the-house music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:30pm Otis Fodder:

Ooooh, don't know this version of California Soul!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:31pm Kat in Chicago:

I don't either, but I don't believe I've ever heard a bad one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm Otis Fodder:

Even Tiny Tim could make it amazing. God, I wish Tiny did California Soul.

Fats Domino
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:38pm mariano:

In Jamaica they listened to a lot of New Orleans radio/music. NOLA and the Caribbean have been musically cross-pollinating for a long time.
Avatar 10:40pm Mr Fab:

yep, they could pick up New Orleans radio. Obviously gave 'em a few ideas.
  10:40pm sufferwords:

solid set yo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm mariano:

Was just gonna mention Cuba lol. Cuban music had a really strong influence on the rhythms of New Orleans music. You can really hear it in second-line percussion.
  10:45pm Elle Tor's Husband:

Gumbo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm mariano:

Great set, you can really hear the connection!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Otis Fodder:

Super sweet set to get some late night work completed by here. Slow groovin'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm mariano:

Oh wow, found this online about Boy Lollypop:

""My Boy Lollipop" (originally written as "My Boy Lollypop") is a song written in the mid-1950s by Robert Spencer of the doo-wop group The Cadillacs, and usually credited to Spencer, Morris Levy, and Johnny Roberts. It was first recorded in New York in 1956 by Barbie Gaye. A cover version, recorded eight years later by Jamaican teenager Millie Small, with very similar rhythm, became one of the top selling ska songs of all time."

Her whole story's interesting: www.last.fm...
Avatar 10:54pm Mr Fab:

ha, Morris Levy, the music biz crook who gave himself writing credit so her could collect royalties...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:57pm mariano:

Mr Fab: Yeah, lol! Barbie Gaye was apparently discovered by mobster Corky Vastola when she was 14 and singing on the street in Coney Island. Gotta be a movie in that.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10pm Otis Fodder:

Nice Kat. I had a small bag of 6 cookies from a local bakery up the block and down to my last 2. Well almost 1 now. Making cookies at home too, love that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Otis Fodder:

Montreal at 11:11pm is pushing it real good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm Kat in Chicago:

I wish I had a nice bakery up the block! Montreal is better for that sort of thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Otis Fodder:

A bit spoiled with bakeries and farmer's markets here. I bet you saw a lot of great spots visiting Kat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Kat in Chicago:

This is great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Otis Fodder:

What's next, Exodus doing Whip It?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm mariano:

I know, right Kat? For a microsecond I thought at first it might be an early/outtake version of Agnostic Front's "Crucified".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm Kat in Chicago:

Otis, last visit I had the best cupcake I've had in years, just from a random coffee shop on a Sunday early evening. I wish Quebec would offer me asylum, haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Otis Fodder:

Looking forward to your next visit Kat, once the new normal becomes normalized. I may know the cupcake place on St-Laurent on the Plateau... but could be a number of places. I love my desserts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm mariano:

Bit o' trivia: ovni is the Spanish and French word for UFO.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Rory:

Exodus covering whip it would be great!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Otis Fodder:

Nice Mariano. Great cover too, this is fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17pm Otis Fodder:

Yea, Rory... I would love to hear that. I was also thinking of Venom at the same time, but Exodus seemed to fit better, ha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm mariano:

Hey, let's not stoop to bossa nova-blaming.
  11:23pm Andal:
