Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Don't refresh a second time. It might be too small to see.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Handy Haversack:

TDK60, I see you selected a few guests. Mark Hurst is one of our technicians, he'll give you tips on Earth's tectonics. and don't forget the crumpets with the tea. Over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm chresti:

The heat let up a little, mid 80s today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:14pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oof. Need to submerge my homo sapiens in H2O
...I think we deffo tweaked the big thermostat on Terra
...@ least the soundtrack remains outstanding for the time being...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm chresti:

Which one of you is Scotty?
Avatar 7:19pm slugluv1313:

Rob, these tunes are wonderful -- just what the doctor ordered
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm Handy Haversack:

There was a breeze out on the river, which made matters tolerable. Wow, these are the nadir times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm Rob W:

Thanks slugluv, Mark, GST and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Things have consequences. Even elections. But this episode isn't over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm chresti:

Coffee time, almost forgot.
Avatar 7:26pm TDK60:

Rob, the show rocks. The first two times I ever ate at Ethiopian restaurants (one in DC, the other Columbus), musicians showed up, played for free.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Righteous!
  7:28pm kpx:

were there ever any doubters about global warming?. we've already had the hottest recorded past four or five Summers.
Avatar 7:29pm slugluv1313:

@ TDK60 -- ahhhhh y'all got me missing Bunna Cafe in Brooklyn :)
  7:29pm Carmichael:

Heya Rob and cool people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Captain Planet is on Creamo Coyl's label?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Handy Haversack:

We've resorted to freezy drinks. Bought a bag of ice.

But what I would give for Ethiopian food right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@kpx: Well - what is anyone doing differently because of it? The USA particularly...maybe in North Europe they are acting on it.
Avatar 7:33pm slugluv1313:

@ Handy -- same here! totally craving!
i am sure most places are doing take out & delivery, but i love the vibe at Bunna :)
one of these days when things are "normal" again i want to check out their coffee ceremony
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm Rob W:

I actually did not know about the Creamo Coyl / Bastard Jazz label connection - but the label is based in Brooklyn I see, and it has also released Lord Echo, Illa J, Potatohead People, Colm K, The Elder Statesman, Brit Manor and Kid Loco - if that sounds like the same label I guess it is!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Note to self: Business opportunity, Ethiopian TV dinners.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm Handy Haversack:

Ken, if you can also package Ethiopian TV in there, you've got yourself a customer!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Coffee ceremony!
  7:38pm Carmichael:

@Ken, I could say Hungry Man dinners, but that would be wrong.
  7:39pm kpx:

@Chresti,. unfortunately Scotty is RIP. his ashes we're actually in space. but one of his sons has actively taken his role as Scotty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Handy Haversack:

Slugluv, where is Bunna? We have not been but want more info!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I can't say with certainty that Creamo Coyl is affiliated with that label. The term "Blastard" appears on his Spin Age Blasters comments board almost every week.
Avatar 7:43pm slugluv1313:

@ Ken From Hyde Park -- there were these microwavable Ethiopian meals that i had seen occasionally -- Taste of Ethiopia? but not sure if they are still around :
@ Handy -- Flushing Avenue in beautiful Brooklyn! www.bunnaethiopia.net
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm Handy Haversack:

Thanks, Slugluv! Nothing in North Brooklyn. But with your rec, we're on it ... one day!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm chresti:

Dance now.
Avatar 7:48pm slugluv1313:

@ Handy -- cool! i may be waaay over here in Hoboken, but when in Brooklyn, i try to go there (again, during "normal" days!) -- i hope you enjoy!
  7:48pm kpx:

@RRNov63, unfortunately nothing will be done, just so long the greedy corrupt powers-that-be are charge.
Avatar 7:49pm slugluv1313:

LOVE that Ladama piece -- gotta find out more!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Loogit the pritty foods!

RobW - we are privileged.
  7:50pm Andal:

Fabulous show, Rob. I am finding myself enjoying genres I have not in the past. Thank you.
Avatar 7:51pm TDK60:

Reminds me of Manu Chao (who may've been influenced by this?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Handy Haversack:

Now we're just holding our freezy drinks against our skin and grunting "this is better" at each other.
  7:51pm kpx:

Dang!, are IN charge!.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

As you do.
Avatar 7:54pm TDK60:

(Was talking about La Sonora Mazurén.)
  7:55pm kpx:

What?, how does that apply to me?
Avatar 7:57pm slugluv1313:

@ Handy -- TOTALLY relatable! there *was* a nice breeze up here on the fourth floor . . . but that was many many hours ago (not really a fan of AC accept when the humidity is like this . . . and of course -- CATS!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm Handy Haversack:

The cats are all sitting inside basically glaring at the AC and wondering why no one will hear their legitimate grievances.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm Handy Haversack:

(I think Marty's in Queens -- though he's Brooklyn relevant!)
Avatar 8:03pm TDK60:

How much do those movies cost? Haven't watched, yet..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm Handy Haversack:

TDK60, I have this vague memory that they are $10. I don't know. I'm never sure I have the tech or accounts to watch streaming stuff.
Avatar 8:06pm TDK60:

Damn Rob, you're rockin' it tonight. This show is vitamins..
Avatar 8:07pm slugluv1313:

@ Handy -- the cats here would evict me if i did not comply with their AC demands
they want FOOD now but their dinner will have to wait for a bit
@ TDK60 -- i believe that they have varying rental fees? some $3.99, others $10.00 . . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07pm Bas NL:

Tamikrest never fails to liven a party! Great track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm chresti:

Thanks Rob for being in charge of this sound paradise!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@kpx: Was referring to freezy drinks. :)
Avatar 8:09pm TDK60:

...thanks Handy, Slug.
Avatar 8:10pm slugluv1313:

yes what TDK60 said at 8:06pm -- total antidote for feeling like a humidity-soaked dish rag
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm Rob W:

You're welcome chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm chresti:

I only went outdoors early this morning, while it was cooler, not too humid. Heard some loud engines revving just now, Franco said it was Hell's Angels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm chresti:

Good thing my car is on the street out front with a WFMU sticker on it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Angels. Well it's Hunter Thompson's b-day (& Sceamin' Jay's & Dion's).
  8:22pm kpx:

@RRNov63, Oh!, I think this cynical world is perhaps making me a little paranoid sometimes. Well in that case let the freezy drinking and grunting continue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22pm Handy Haversack:

Do you two AC, chresti? We do, in waves, but we turn it just on fan a lot.

We apparently have had a resurgence of the Guardian Angels in Brooklyn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Apologies kpx. A couple convos...
Funeral Music - you come & go with nothing. Wow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm chresti:

Just one, Handy, and a fan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm Handy Haversack:

Watching an orb spider stretch a web between the umbrellas right now, against the twilight. Leaps around, and you'd swear it's flying. Pret-ty cool.
Avatar 8:27pm slugluv1313:

beautiful other-worldly funeral music
  8:35pm Carmichael:

I just blew up a god damn pool floatie that’s bigger than the pool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm maestroso:

Ah, this is such a great record!
  8:40pm Carmichael:

100, chresti. You?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm chresti:

82 just now, high was 86, Carmichael.
  8:43pm kpx:

if a lot of people with AC weren't so spoiled and selfish about turning their AC on and just leaving it on because they can't be with a little discomfort for periods of about 10 or 15 minutes through out the day just by turn it off to prevent a blackout are the first ones to bitch the loudest and longest.
  8:48pm kpx:

RRNov63, no apology is really necessary. and I'm not even going to ask what?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51pm radioronan:

So many great new releases. Thanks for the show, Rob. And thanks for sharing your African playlist, this week. Be well everyone & keep listening out there...Thanks skeleton crew!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm Handy Haversack:

Wow, this is great.

Thanks so much, Rob! Great show!

Thanks, Ruth!
