Hey, Snoochie! Enjoy it, pal.

Marley, I am finding that the grotesquely scrotal aspects of this summer's weather have lost their charm. These days are just brutal.

Hey adamp, ratso, Ken, everybody...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34am Nulsh:

Heidee, Ayr huh? That explains why you are so well informed!
My missus also hails from that part of the country.
Avatar 9:35am Joe McG:

@Brian: Yes, I usually put something up after the show, something that I think reflects the general vibe of what happened. Since I don't have a set-in-stone plan going in to the show, I never know what picture will work for my mood.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am ratso:

Nulsh! any day on this side of the turf is a plus, i'd have to say.
Avatar 9:37am Brian in UK:

Still have difficulty computing Billy Idol and Joni M. About as odd as Neil Diamond appearing on the Last Waltz.
Avatar 9:39am Joe McG:

@Brian: Neither of them are talking, but there might be some extra-musical reasons why they were hanging out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ha. Joni is a Scorpio. Don't underestimate her sting.
Avatar 9:42am Heidee:

Nulsh, aye, Rabbie's fair country. I miss it, regards tae yer missus. - I really dig how WFMU unites. It's like one big huge giant picnic with all the fave goodies on the rug.

Scary but great how quick the week flys by and it's time
for another Surface Noise!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am -Ken:

Anybody listening at 91.1fm, we are going to have around ten seconds of dead air while Engineer Peter tries to fix something.
Avatar 9:54am Joe McG:

Hey Bill! Best to you and Maggie.
Avatar 9:55am Joe McG:

@waters7: Emilly, that's so kind, thank you! We do. I don't partake of either, but everyone else here is crazy about coffee and doughnuts! :)
  9:58am Brendan:

Good morning Joe! Great first set. Thanks for the three Morricone references. I heard Fábio’s great show and I’ll backfill the other two you gave. I know a lot’s been said about the man, but my gosh what a prolific artist. I’m thinking there’s no way he even had time to relisten to his scores or watch any of them in context of their films. He was too busy writing the next one!

i need three cups just to muster the courage to log on to the chat here
Avatar 10:00am Joe McG:

@Mike: I haven't had any in decades. Caffeine issues. I drink a lot of barley tea, herbals, things like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00am Handy Haversack:

I believe Marillion's original drummer was also from Ayrshire, if we're looking for more famous products of the soil.
Avatar 10:03am Brian in UK:

What is the Point of Ayr when it is in Wales?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am karlward:

Is this Mike Dillon a riff on "Bechet's Bounce" by David Murray?

@Brian in UK,
There’s also a lot of air in whales. Especially when they die and beach. Methane too, I reckon. An exploding whale carcass up close is probably not going to be on my bucket list. Anyway that’s enough bloated hot air from me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:11am Handy Haversack:

Commitment to the cause, Stanley -- admirable!

Does anyone know if the Bandcamp Fridays will continue in August?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am The Oscar:

Mornin' all! The first Kristofferson is one of those records I used to love playing when I worked at the record store, but have never owned. I gotta change that.
Avatar 10:13am Brian in UK:

I want to see Cisco Pike now.
Avatar 10:14am TDK60:

I've long been surprised the opening cut on Kris K.'s opener LP is not more played. "Blame It On The Stones". Hee.
Avatar 10:15am Joe McG:

@Oscar: Essential one! It doesn't have the song I played, but the CD reissue with the bonus tunes is around.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15am Handy Haversack:

Stanley! That is so freaking cool of you! I hope you like it! She sent some thank-you cards out to those people whose addresses she had -- I don't remember a Leith address in there, but you better believe there's a thank-you dram involved next time we're allowed to join you there!
  10:16am Brendan:

Brian, I don’t know what’s worse, being swallowed by a whale or being barfed up by one. At least he didn’t have to take the full tour of the intestinal tract.
Avatar 10:18am Heidee:

I thought this had a nice Bert Jansch start just the first five notes though
Avatar 10:19am Joe McG:

@Heidee: I thought the same!

Not Woodstocky - a thing full of political desperation in the mud straining past its own limits 1969

Drinking movies? Not exactly a movie, but when I was in college I went to a Grinch party. "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" was played, and every time the word "Who" was said, you were supposed to pound beer from a 3-oz Dixie cup. Basically you drink the equivalent of a dozen or so beers in 30 minutes.

I'm with Handy on Withnail & I. There's a drinking game that goes along with it, but I don't think I'd survive.
