Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Handy Haversack:

All good, Marley! We actually just figured out a way to get out of town for a few days next weekend. Bagpipe doesn't even know how excited he is yet! Possibly because he grabbed an entire hamburger on his run with Kate and ate it, wrapper and all. Washed down with some fallen and fermenting mulberries.

How goes with you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm Scott Williams:

Happy Whensday, HP Ken!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm mariano:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Uncle Michael:

@May Jillar, are you the person I met in Cusic Mity?
  3:54pm Woo:

I have a broken Tascam cassette 4-track in the basement. I went digital but I do miss the cassette recording experience.
  3:55pm MayJillar:

You must be thinking of Jay Millar. Never heard of him. I'm a lady. My name is May Jillar. ;-)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm Uncle Michael:

Nice not to see you again, May.
  3:58pm McGreivey:

just turned on the radio. I missed The Ex? I used to love going to see them at the original Knitting Factory whenever they came through, but never bothered with their records, for some reason. No reason.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Scott Williams:

McGreivey, they've got a lot of 'em! Saw them only once or twice, once with Getachew Mekuria, that was a mind-flayer
Avatar 4:01pm Chris from DC:

People still talk about the DC show with the Ex and Mekuria. It was amazing.
  4:02pm McGreivey:

I have (and use ) a Tascam digital 8-track. It basically works like a cassette 4-track, but it has effects built in, and editing and mastering capabilities that a cassette 4-track could never do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Handy Haversack:

Brain-sucking tentacles and all, Scott?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Can't you have as many digital Trax to make mud as you like just on junk like Audacity or GarageBand?
Avatar 4:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Just dug out the old Yamaha 4-track here, for a bit of weird archaeology.

Dug that MALL; it definitely had that floor-session vibe. Good fun.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...George Martin wrote about starting so early in England that using a weight to cut a record was more reliable than the electric current there...
  4:07pm McGreivey:

Sure, you can use Audacity or whatever. But if you don't have a place to leave your recording great set up all the time, then you have to go get your recording interface and hook it up, and half the time your computer doesn't want to talk to it, or whatever. A freestanding recorder always works when you turn it on, and you can take it anywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

✔︎
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Bas NL:

I have used a Tascam 8-track hard disk recorder in the past. Now i'm on a PC running Reaper DAW software, but i find it very difficult to get anything done quickly. Editing is far easier though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Someone told me about Reaper...

Avatar 4:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

it's comforting to see the ol'blog still up there, floating in space.

The reel-to-reel catacombs posts were a permanent favorite.
Avatar 4:27pm TDK60:

Thanks for that, will read later! I recently made a Ribeiro mix tape using the WFMU Archive. (Don't tell anyone.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm Scott Williams:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Handy Haversack:

@ami, soon as in today? I wish you safe roads and cheap drinks, pal!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Bas NL:

I loved Beware-of-the-Blog. And i think the NWW series by Wm Berger you revere to were stellar.

Hey all! Gooood tracks here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm joe mulligan:

Avatar 4:33pm TDK60:

What a friggin' great album. ("Bright")
Avatar 4:35pm Jeff Moore:

Now when you play the Thompsons, I'm never entirely sure whether it's just for the music, or if there's some sort of Twin Peaks callout going on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Passaic River Blues:

Been a minute since I've heard "Karl Blau"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:35pm Scott Williams:

Hi Jeff! Especially when played at 4:30, right??
Avatar 4:36pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

aye, Bas -- Berger's year-end film roundup was another favorite.
  4:36pm Woo:

Here comes Sergio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Rory:

I have no idea what you're talking about. ;-)

Avatar 4:39pm Jeff Moore:

This is Fayelord, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Carmichael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Handy Haversack:

I loved it, Woo!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Carmichael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm karlward:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Scott Williams:

Oh yeah, let the guessing begin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm karlward:

It's Bjork interviewing Bill Murray while 5 seconds of an obscure Fall record skips and loops
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Handy Haversack:

Heard, Woo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm karlward:

It's Yoko Ono feeding cassette tapes to Station Manager Ken while they try to sing duets of Cole Porter tunes
Avatar 4:53pm MayJillar:

Am I the only one that hears the melody to "This Bulging River" (Waiting For Guffman) in Scott's background music?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Scott Williams:

@Woo, I totally get it, but I always get the most out of him when I stop struggling. Like giving up on trying to figure out Richard, Linda and 4:30 - totally fruitless
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Carmichael:

Maybe some of Skylark's WildFlower would tip this canoe over.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Handy Haversack:

Scott's given all the clues, clearly! It's Linda Thompson and the Giant from Twin Peaks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm karlward:

Joe McGasko DJing a live chicken, which sounds oddly soothing and kinda harp-like when he does it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm karlward:

And ONLY when he does it, don't try it yourself
Avatar 4:56pm TDK60:

No, he'll be presenting a live jam by the Skeletons.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Ike:

It's former DJs Tom Crowe, Kellen303, and Laure having a food fight and then Big Blood writes and performs songs about it on the spot.
