I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Hello D.J. Hello all. Magic sound time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm Krys O.:

Good afternoon, Bryce and MarbledOnes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Bryce:

hey, friends
Avatar 12:08pm Sem:

Hello, Bryce, and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Handy Haversack:

Bryce! Blended Ones! Hello!

Remember: Juneteenth on Bandcamp. All Bandcamp's revenues go to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.

greetings on this Day

Hey Bryce! Happy Friday
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hey there! Anyone ever drop steelies into the blender? I imagine that would sound rather harsh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm steveo:

greetings; preclickied one juneteenth ago (?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Krys O.:

@Ken from Hyde Park: I had a blender that had problems with chickpeas when I attempted to make hummus with it. :(

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Passaic River Blues:

The cover of the Thornton LP is amazing. Reminding of Ishmael Reed's "Mumbo Jumbo" and to feed the loas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm brainiac:

@Handy: It's a good thing to do.

Hi everyone. Don't swallow your marbles.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Handy Haversack:

brainiac! How were the mountains?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm brainiac:

I struck gold
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Handy Haversack:

brainiac hearst they call him!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Yes:

hello
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Krys O - Yikes! Chick peas are normally soft and pliable enough to blend up easily.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm brainiac:

No lie, on a well trod path, at the base of a waterfall, I looked down and there at my feet, glittering in the sun, was about an ounce and a half of gold flake.

It now sits on my desk combined with a certain amount of pocket lint.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Handy Haversack:

Wow, that's amazing! I saw an egret on the creek, but it's not quite the same!

We're heading out on the river this afternoon, paddling down to Brooklyn Bridge and back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm brainiac:

Sounds lovely! Watch out for the whitefish.
  12:33pm sydnius:

(snap)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Phillippe Bastille:

Howdy!

Is that "my" egret, Handy? Cuz he's missing in action
Avatar 12:42pm Chris from DC:

hey hey
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Handy Haversack:

Must have found an egress, Phillippe!

We're heading out to the river. Thanks, Bryce. Be well, everyone!
  12:57pm nok:

midnight here on the Andaman Coast...beers and Bryce :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Bryce:

wow, that's incredible!! hi, nok!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Krys O.:

Egrets and cranes often stop off in Bloomfield parks. Love seeing them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Krys O. We've been lucky this year. An egret, blue and green herons, a kingfisher (currently MIA), multiple osprey, a bald eagle, different types of gulls all out the back door
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Bryce:

lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Phillippe Bastille:

@? Nailed it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm sydnius:

Ooh I hope they have pizza
  1:12pm brainiac:

Sounds like fun as long as the staff sanitizes the dog toys every night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Devin B.:

Don't you have to be good at writing to be a music critic?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Bryce:

never understood why people spend their life energy on making sure everyone knows what they *don't* like. waaaaaah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Devin B.:

Lol
Avatar 1:18pm Chris from DC:

Whoa this Luther Thomas is great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm Carmichael:

Heya Bryce and oddballs. Lots of egrets out here in rice country.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Krys O.:

@Bryce: I believe those critics harness that negative energy each time they stub their toes.
  1:28pm brainiac:

@Carmichael: Thank god you're here. Now maybe we can have a sensible discussion about the esoteric nuances of blender operation.
  1:30pm nok:

yeah, that's amazing all the birds you listed !!!

we have maybe half dozen species of eagles here on the islands in the Andamans....amazing walking on beaches at sunset and watching them swoop down on snakes and monitor lizards and rodents (and etc)....

herons and egrets always confuse me...always mix them up.

the funk is here tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Krys O.:

Egrets are herons. Herons have s-shaped necks.
  1:32pm nok:

**mobile app* truncates comments without a warning while writing?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Krys O.:

I saw a tricolored heron close-up in the park behind my previous abode years ago and it was incredible.
Avatar 1:34pm tak:

love has no "function".
  1:35pm nok:

we need to start a wfmu pastebin for bird sightings

thx for the info!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Krys O.:

Trolls just hate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:38pm Bryce:

krys, have you been to the dekorte park in the last few years? the meadowlands rehabilitation has been going so well that almost 300 bird species have added it back to their list of rest stops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Krys O.:

@Bryce: I've never been there, but one of my co-workers goes there to photograph the birds. I've seen some great pictures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Bryce:

all right, relax, egret.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Krys O.:

@Egret Crane: Way to go to make this all about yourself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Passaic River Blues:

Hungee troll about who will be heard, by Jove!
@Bryce: was in DeKorte last year and saw actually goddamn KESTRELS!
Avatar 1:41pm tak:

lack of imagination is usually cured with ponder
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Passaic River Blues:

*actual
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Krys O.:

Ooh, there was a kestral that came to my office window about 6-7 years ago. It was breathtaking! Definitely off course during a windstorm.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42pm Passaic River Blues:

@Krys: they are incredible.
  1:42pm Dann Baker:

Great show as usual, young schmann! Big Tapscott fan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm brainiac:

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then troll the message board?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Krys O.:

" ? @1:09?:

They sound like a family of fat people falling down a flight of stairs into a basement filled with dog toys"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm brainiac:

Later on, Uncle Fester.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm Phillippe Bastille:

@nok 1:35 great idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Krys O.:

Why is someone making assumptions about my tastes? And what bearing does it have upon how great Bryce's show is?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Ike:

@Krys@12:13, I once had a blender that couldn't handle the tahini. Too thick. I was gifted a food processor and since then it's never a problem. For best mixing, the trick is to mix up the garlic, oil, salt, etc. first and then add the chickpeas (preferably skinned). I forget when the tahini goes in, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Krys O.:

When did I call anyone a name? I made a general statement without referencing a person.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Krys O.:

Ike, it probably was the skins. Thanks for your suggestion.
Avatar 1:57pm tak:

you're 100% right forever about everything
  1:58pm nok:

I guess nobody knows but my name (real. name!) means "bird"

so it's good you all talk about birds

there is an early Peter greenaway about birds. VIOLENT UNKNOWN EVENT. most humans die and the remaining ones have their lives tied to some aspect of avian existence

I think the original is 4 hours long
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Ike:

Yes, they're a bit of a pain to clean, but less so than the blender (or at least, less so than the particular blender I was using) beause it's easier to reach inside, take everything apart, etc.
  2:00pm rie:

amazing playlist, some of the best jazz ever
  2:01pm Harl Um:

I feel strange :(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:02pm Bryce:

thanks, rie!

easiest job in the world, pushing the "play" button a few times an hour....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Ike:

This one is a Hamilton Beach 70730. I can't speak to other food processors besides this. (I wish I could recommend something not made in China, but ugh, c'est la capitalism.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Carmichael:

I'm upset about the distinct lack of industrial noise as music ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Passaic River Blues:

@NOK: very cool! Plenty of bird fiend FMU listeners; Trouble's French birdsound records as bed music is a continued pleasure of the station. I will check out that Peter Greenaway film. Your description reminds me of the part of Olaf Stapledon's "Last and First Men" where people evolve into bird-like creatures.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Ike @Egret I usually "process/blend" some water before taking them apart to remove some of the gunk. Made the mistake of adding a drop or two of dish soap once. Turned into an episode of I Love Lucy
  2:05pm nok:

**this truncation on mobile app (Android) is horrible... anyone know how to eliminate it or expand the field?

@KEN: LOOKING AT YOU, BABY. BIG BOSS
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Ike:

@PB: thanks, good tip!
  2:08pm nok:

Passaic:

it's great, as are all of his early shorts.

I can't recall the name but I think what I told you makes it easily searchable. previously a wild 3+hour version existed and at some point a series of shorts from it and then a DVD of a cut version...who knows what's there now. who cares. VUE. bird song and chirping and humans with tics mimicking birds and old men suddenly eating like chickens . wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm -Ken:

Hello Dear Friends,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm Bryce:

Sir!

*quickly puts pants on*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm Michael 98145:

thanks for keeping our station going
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm -Ken:

Bryce, thanks so much for that Negativland edit you made! Was that Sarah Palin's voice on that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Bryce:

er.......?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Bryce:

i smell burnt toast
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Krys O.:

Leaving the office early. Will listen on the road.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Bryce:

seeya, krys!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm -Ken:

Sorry. Wrong Bryce
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm -Ken:

Is this WFUV?
Avatar 2:25pm Sem:

I sense scintillating scotoma coming on.
  2:25pm nok:

Many years ago I remember Anthony Braxton telling me to listen to H Tapscott. I never did. Now Bryce is bringing it full circle. I literally have never heard that guy before today. Great set tonight....maybe the most "action" in a Bryce set in over a hundred years :P
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm Michael 98145:

nice hack of the playlist page

:)
  2:29pm nok:

is this death metal or doom metal?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Haha ... remember to donate generously to WFUV!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm brainiac:

@-Ken: Are you referring to "Fourth Of July (FCC Remix)" you played Weds morning?
Avatar 2:33pm Lixiviated Life:

Right now I'm simultaneously playing Satie Gymnopédie No.1, Eno Ambient 1 Music for Airports and this ENsamble Muntu Theme for Milford.
AND it sounds divine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Passaic River Blues:

LOL! The FUV graphic is killing me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm Krys O.:

@Sem You get ocular migraines too? Ugh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm -Ken:

brainiac was that YOU! ??
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm -Ken:

brainiac, since when did you do a show on WFUV?!
Avatar 2:37pm Chris from DC:

Ensemble Muntu is new to me. Very nice. Shame it appears to be very rare?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm brainiac:

Ha,ha. No. I'm not sure of all the voices in it but this one is prominently featured (as you may already know): youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm -Ken:

WHO IS THAT brainiac? And when is your WFUV show? I will tune in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm brainiac:

I don't know, but I gather her rant went viral several years ago.

If I did a show, it would only be for WFMU. Web only, by necessity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Carmichael:

Don't feed the troll, brainiac.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm brainiac:

@Carm HAHA!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm Bryce:

oh, i know that rant! it's not sarah palin. i thought there was video to the original
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:44pm -Ken:

Seriously Bryce (Is that your real name?) - I don't think I've ever heard WFDU sound as good as it does today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Bryce:

wait till i go WFME
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Krys O.:

No! Not FME!
  2:48pm karen eliot:

Huh, @Bryce, sorry for loss of image transparency info! Never noticed before...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:55pm Brian D:

I am ashamed to admit I only came across, and listened to this Mtume Umoja Ensemble record recently. One of the coolest things I've heard in a while. Thanks for playing this, Bryce. All the best to you and the Skeleton Crew.
