Dutch beat, rock and pop, roughly between 1960 - 1980. We not only focus on shocking blue earrings washing up the sandy coast after tea, but we're also getting our shoes wet digging up nits from a kayak with our supersister

Hi Bob!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Hey, i like the statement. I've been seeing a few inflammatory comments on the main WFMU stream comments and appreciate the efforts to keep this space hospitable for all respectful folx. And still have fun!
HI, Jan! Hi, Listener Bob in PGH

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Rich in Washington: every time i see your avatar, i forget that most people have a different response than my little thrill of regional recognition and amusement. Hi!
Avatar 12:27pm Mr Fab:

Ungawa, y'all!

Wow, Soviet Sex, they're my fave new old New Wave band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Mr. Fab!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm joe:

'ello folks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm joe:

Doesn't Golden Earring have some sort of claim to fame of being like the longest running consistent band or longest consistent members or something like that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Jan Turkenburg:

Joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, I think they do!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Jan Turkenburg:

They had some extra members every now and then but the four of them have gone a long way together.
Avatar 12:35pm Mr Fab:

I thought ZZ Top made that claim? But don't know for sure.
Avatar 12:35pm solo mon:

Late to the party- but not to late to hear golden earring! Hi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Solo mon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm joe:

I think ZZ Top may be longest with out a member change. And wow I just looked Golden Earring started in 1961 Holy cow
Avatar 12:40pm Mr Fab:

What was the first rock band? The Crickets?
Avatar 12:42pm solo mon:

Fab, I’m pretty sure it was the Beau Brummelstones. Or Ann Margrock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm David Dichelle:

Hopefully I'm not te laat to check in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Jan Turkenburg:

:-) Hi David!
Avatar 12:51pm Ursula1000:

Ann Margrock....nice!
Avatar 12:51pm Mr Fab:

solo mon: ha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm joe:

Well I guess if you go with the statement that Rocket 88 is the first Rock and Roll song then it would be The Delta Cats (aka Rythem Kings).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm joe:

@Solo NICE!!!
Avatar 12:54pm solo mon:

:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm ARB:

Avatar 1:06pm worldsworstrecords:

hey Jan! Hey everyone!
Avatar 1:06pm solo mon:

I always thought the first was big mama T. But I’m no expert and she’s is not technically a band? There i just point counterpointed myself.
Avatar 1:06pm worldsworstrecords:

I was listening on the mobile app, but its really hard to comment from there
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Rich in Washington:

I'm going to use that saying often now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Rich in Washington:

Hey, wwr!
Avatar 1:07pm solo mon:

Rich we gotta make that a thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar 1:09pm worldsworstrecords:

I'm good solo. How are you?
Avatar 1:10pm solo mon:

  1:11pm mmzz:

hello
Avatar 1:12pm solo mon:

Doing ok. Had a tough morning, but doing better now that we have no mountains.
Avatar 1:12pm worldsworstrecords:

How are you enjoying your extra hour Jan?
Avatar 1:13pm worldsworstrecords:

Sorry to hear that, solo, but glad things are picking up :-)
Avatar 1:15pm solo mon:

That makes sense Jan! Thanks I’m loving that saying, gotta start using it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Jan and lovely friends. A bit mad with work today but SJR in the backdrop, so if I'm ghosting you on chat, I am simply your guardian spirit and if I am on a call, I can inquire to see if Tiny Tim or Wesley Willis is available.
Avatar 1:16pm solo mon:

I’m also gonna start saying “and then my glasses fell off my nose.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Jan Turkenburg:

Otis! Hi!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm joe:

Ok I missed this great saying that was uttered while in a meeting. Now I feel left out :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Rich in Washington:

I liked that saying's meaning. I grew up near a Finnish family and recall doing their sauna night with them. Afterwards, all the males in their family would cannonball into their icy pond. Yikes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Otis Fodder:

Supersister = Star'rrrred
Avatar 1:31pm solo mon:

Otis, get ready to wet your chest!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Otis Fodder:

I have 2 spray bottles here, one for cleaning vinyl.. the other for plants, ready to get wet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar 1:35pm worldsworstrecords:

he's a moist mist wizard, there has to be a twist...
  1:36pm JakeGould:

@Granny: Just a late comment on the “Black Lives Matter” statement but I agree. Also — as someone who has a big mouth on comments at times — I’m not shocked by some of the anti statements that have triggered conflict as of late. Gonna state something blunt but undeniable: A lot of WFMU is nostalgia rock and a lot of people into that stuff are simply older, white and have issues to say the least.
Avatar 1:37pm worldsworstrecords:

hurrah!
Avatar 1:37pm solo mon:

Spray it don’t say it.
Avatar 1:38pm worldsworstrecords:

beautiful, Jan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Jan Turkenburg:

Avatar 1:55pm Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Jan Turkenburg:

LOL, the latter. I think they mean his baritone guitar :-)
Avatar 1:55pm solo mon:
