I think the voice of Creamo Coyl and the sound of a rare Metabolist track are a very fitting way for extraterrestrials to first encounter humanity. I’m sure Carl Sagan is nodding in agreement wherever he is.

  3:58pm Andy:

Loving what you’re playing this afternoon, CC. My copy of Purple Rain came with a poster of Prince and his crew standing in front of a spiral staircase and a giant Nagel-like painting. Either Prince or the photographer had the band stand way back behind him so The Purple One would look 8’ tall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm ultradamno:

Hard to beat Crass for poster packaging.

Avatar 4:04pm lunacraft:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm TomDash:

@sphere - seems like a lot of reissues do that - original/dub back-to-back. I'm on the fence - sometimes I dig it, but when the dub is very similar, it can get annoying...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm sphere:

I ordered some Crass CDs from One Pink Indian but it seems that the reissue didn't come through, because they sent me some Crass esoterica (seemingly in apology).
Avatar 4:05pm Creamo Coyl:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm steveo:

did you know that the beatles hardly knew anything, but they knew how to count?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm ultradamno:

Lee Ving and Dee Dee were expert counters too.
Avatar 4:10pm Jennica:

Sorry to be missing due to a work meeting - ugh... "work flow", "functional use case designs"..blah blah blah I'd rather be listening to The Elephant Man song
  4:10pm ami ad:

If Creamo does not actually live in a basement, the building he lives in might sink from the weight of all his Vinyl records, and the ones that might show up.
Avatar 4:11pm khd:

would you really want to put those records into that meatgrinder of a turntable tho? methinks not
  4:11pm Little Mexican Girl:

Why not both?
  4:12pm ami ad:

A sealed record sounds like nothing.Put it on.
  4:13pm ami ad:

@Little Mexican Girl:Are you suggesting Creamo lives in an apt.,but stores the Vinyl in the basement?
Avatar 4:15pm Creamo Coyl:

The Complaint Dept. is thatta way.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm sphere:

If it's spring reverb, maybe? Or would digital do the same thing?
  4:37pm ami ad:

Watched The Phantom Carriage last week,I think it should be the soundtrack of these shows.
Avatar 4:39pm Creamo Coyl:

There is no reverb unit.

That should've been a line of dialogue in 2001.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Handy Haversack:

It's full of reverb units ... !
Avatar 4:40pm khd:

the reverb is coming from inside the house
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Fuzzy:

There is no spoon either -- and it's not just the mic cuz I can hear it in between songs too.

Avatar 4:45pm khd:

it went away between songs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm efd:

Avatar 4:46pm Creamo Coyl:

OK more troubleshooting in process. This is fun.

Creamo's parrot might be in the room.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm efd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Ken From Hyde Park:

A tap-dancing ant.
Avatar 4:49pm khd:

it sounds like someone slapping their body while mic'd

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Handy Haversack:

It *is* almost the helicopter hour here in BKNY.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Fuzzy:

It's periodic, not cyclical. If online stream is derived from transmitter signal, could be some kind of motor interference getting in near the transmitter. Maybe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Fuzzy:

Periodic, not RANDOM, is what I meant to say.
Avatar 4:54pm khd:

for me it's constant and goes away between songs or when there's a break in the song

Avatar 5:09pm khd:

@fox - yeah, it's a streaming issue
Avatar 5:10pm Creamo Coyl:

@northguineahills - I went to highschool in Sussex County (northern most bit of NJ), and I used to have to drive down from the mountains to Jefferson and just sit in a parkinglot to listen to the radio shows I wanted to.

Every time I hear Nurse With Wound it's the best thing I've ever heard. I really need to do a deep dive. Should I just go through chronologically?
Avatar 5:26pm HexFamChan:

yeah loving this
Avatar 5:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Fox, you can't go wrong.

The icebreaker LP for a lot of people is the Sylvie & Babs Hi-Fi Companion, which is more of the sound-collage material. Staggering work. On the other end of the spectrum is Soliloquy for Lilith, which is mega deep drone. I dig all of it.

greetings, Creamo Coyle and everyone!
@ Fox -- DEFINITELY! Nurse With Wound is eternally astounding

The first Automating is one I like to recommend, the series are compilations of tracks from compilations and provide a nice overview of what Stapleton does, S&B and Large Ladies are great for the manic side, Homotopy For Marie and Merzbild Schwet for the darker, could be horror movie scores.

@rev turnip - thanks for those recs, going to check them out - drone/sound-collage stuff is my jam right now

A Sucked Orange is another one. A bit of everything, infinite classic.

Mimargolu is a fave of mine, (as is NWW).

Regarding audio noise on remote DJ audio setups: USB 3.0 devices — not USB 3.1 (aka: USB C) or ThunderBolt 3 — emit radio frequencies that have been known to interfere with Bluetooth devices as well as audio gear. Something about the frequency USB 3.0 literally sends data at. So separating ANY USB 3.0 devices from audio gear as much as possible helps. And even “downgrading” to USB 2.0 by simply using the older cable — and not the USB 3.0 cable with more connectors and blue plastic in the connectors — is enough to eliminate that issue.

thank god the geek squad is here just in time

Lucky, you fox. By my senior year of HS, all independent and college radio stations near me were bought out Clear Channel, so Arlanta and Athens, GA, were the closest decent stations around at the time. When the signals fade, I got used to white noise (still am). I know the feeling. Finding WFMU before visiting NYC (and moving), was a revalatiom.
