  9:03pm JakeGould:

Avatar 9:03pm sgtpeepaw:

Hello Jj, Scott + friends
  9:07pm Dan from Delco:

Good evening
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm melinda:

Hi friends
Avatar 9:10pm slugluv1313:

good evening, Jesse, skeleton crew, everyone!
  9:17pm Chris H:

What’s up Heads?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:17pm jj.:

hello invisible friends, non-invisible friends, skeleton scott williams, & anybody else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18pm jj.:

yo chris.
Avatar 9:19pm sgtpeepaw:

checking out International Anthem right now... wow! this went under my radar. Jesse, have you heard anything off Chicago Research?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm jj.:

pretty much everything i've heard from from international anthem is fantastic & deep. unfamiliar with chicago research, i think.
  9:23pm JakeGould:

And here is International Anthem’s Bandcamp: intlanthem.bandcamp.com
Avatar 9:24pm sgtpeepaw:

I know what I'll be listening to this week, thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm jj.:

all's quiet over by studio J today/tonight. no marches walking by the front or back, no helicopters hovering.
  9:27pm JakeGould:

One week since last and literally no rioting or looting in NYC. Each day passes and another pile of successful peaceful protests is added to the pile.
Avatar 9:31pm slugluv1313:

Oshogbo REALLY hitting all the right spots
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm jj.:

for sure, though what i experienced was peaceful in perhaps the most raucous/cathartic/noise-making sense of what you can call "peaceful"
Avatar 9:31pm sgtpeepaw:

A bunch of peaceful protests just went down here in western mass, and more to come. Glad to hear nyc has been experiencing the same.
  9:33pm JakeGould:

For sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm Yes:

mmmm this is good
Avatar 9:37pm slugluv1313:

yes -- for as long as i can remember, my impression is that the powers-that-be hate/resent protests even more when they are peaceful, "law abiding," etc. even if LOUD
Avatar 9:40pm slugluv1313:

so -- (embarrassingly) totally unfamiliar with Kevin Haynes and Grupo Elegua -- DAMN i gotta learn more! really beautiful and healing stuff: youtu.be...
  9:41pm JakeGould:

And for those who care, Tom Scharpling has just put “The Best Show” on hiatus until further notice stating, “awe should all have bigger and better things to focus on right now.” twitter.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

hey everybody
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm jj.:

i just learned about groupo elegua on bandcamp friday & need to do more exploring. only know this album so far. kevinhaynesgrupoelegua.bandcamp.com...

Avatar 9:46pm sgtpeepaw:

i am seriously far out from this recording...
Avatar 9:47pm northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm Yes:

Avatar 9:55pm slugluv1313:

ODETTA hell yeah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:58pm Chop Scott:

Avatar 9:58pm TDK60:

  9:59pm Andal:

So we went to see the jeffersom airplane, odetta was the opening act...

Avatar 10:09pm sgtpeepaw:

Jesse, man... thank you. killer show so far.
Avatar 10:10pm slugluv1313:

@ Andal, TDK60 -- WOW *jealous*
(never got to see Odetta live)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm mariano:

Saw that earlier, Ken FHP. RIP indeed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Scott Williams:

@TDK60 - check on the pen and clipboard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm Handy Haversack:

Hey, Jesse, Skeleton Skott, everyone. How goes, TDK 60?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm McGroovey:

This Carter/Shipp/Parker/Cleaver is perfect right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:16pm Scott Williams:

Handy, nice to hear you and Kate on Techtonic this evening! Was listening from the same spot where we last shared prehistoric beers
  10:16pm JakeGould:

I’m at cruising altitude… Also, I saw one of the MTA hand sanitizers in person when I walked the length of the Atlantic Avenue subway station to head home a few days back. Literally one Purell dispenser. And you only saw it when you were leaving the station.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:17pm McGroovey:

And a skunk sprayed outside my window, and the music still sounds good.
  10:17pm JakeGould:

Gotta admit something… Never really found skunk spray to be objectionable. Just my nose I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm mariano:

Yeah really cool to hear you and Kate, Handy.
Avatar 10:18pm northguineahills:

When was this Carter/Shipp/Parker/Cleaver recorded, and where???!!!! (I miss seeing Daniel Carter)>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Handy Haversack:

Oh, man, Scott, to share another beer with you there right now!

Excited for your show tomorrow!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Handy Haversack:

Mariano, it's always cool to hear Kate -- I tag along and enjoy the feel of the reflected glory!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm jj.:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24pm McGroovey:

@Jake it depends on how far away you are. If you're at a safe distance, it smells sweet, like Molson beer. (I grew up in upstate NY in the '70s, and Molson was a common luxury, and we called it skunk beer, and drank it with relish)(metaphorical relish).
Avatar 10:24pm northguineahills:

Wow, thanks jj!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:25pm McGroovey:

And if you're close, you'll want to set yourself on fire and put yourself out of misery.
Avatar 10:25pm TDK60:

I've heard tomato juice doesn't work.
  10:25pm JakeGould:

@McGroovey: Sure, I guess my city boy life only smelled skunk in the outdoors.
  10:25pm rw:

Evening. Moon the man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm McGroovey:

Well, but at least tomato juice makes you feel like you're doing something to solve the problem that doesn't involve fire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Handy Haversack:

@Jake, Kate and I sat in the park near the 34th St. ferry landing for a bit today and actually saw a Parks worker come through and offer everyone masks. I managed not to shout when the unmasked yuppies turned him down.
  10:29pm JakeGould:

@Handy: Ha! That is something… I was in Union Square today. Went to the farmer’s market and sat down on a bench to enjoy the day and read. What could go wrong?

There’s a fire on the 4, 5 and 6 IRT tracks and my side of the park starts getting a fog of smoke… Good thing I had a mask! Hahahaha!!! Hahahaha!!!
Avatar 10:29pm TDK60:

Hi Handy. Just shout "Science!" and if they look at ya wierd, just say "Thomas Dolby tune."
  10:32pm JakeGould:

@TDK60: The thing is 13 weeks into this whole mess and if someone is not going to wear a mask, they are just “next level” something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm Handy Haversack:

Ha! Good advice. "Well, what are they blinding *you* with?!"

We ate some to-go fries and had a to-go glass of wine there, and it felt like 40 percent normal.
Avatar 10:34pm northguineahills:

I have must been in a coma, I had no idea Laraaji and Sun Araw collaborated!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm Andrew Waterloo:

I think the point of Tomato juice is to make the mess so bad that you have to scrub the crap out of it
Avatar 10:38pm northguineahills:

If I'm outside city limits, I get side-eyed wearing a mask. Some people really do view it as a political, and not scientific decision. (suburbia FL is a weird mix rich GOPers from up north and rednecks [disclaimer: I've met decent rednecks who can think for them selves])
Avatar 10:39pm northguineahills:

(which is why I rarely venture outside any given city in FL).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Parq:

Jake G @10:29 - I walked past the 23rd Street 6 stop and smelled smoke something fierce, and there were MTA guys standing around, but the station wasn't closed. Now I know.
  10:42pm JakeGould:

@Parq: There you go!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm jmr3:

@northguineahills: you must be way north in FL, it's completely different down south. For one, there is no 'outside city limits' - it's ocean on one side glades on the other
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:53pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

Ha, Pat has said he'll yell SCIENCE!! at anyone who challenges his mask.
I gotta listen to that Techtonic show to hear one of our own.
Avatar 10:55pm TDK60:

I now have several homemade masks, various bandannas, hats, sunglasses. I'm so dashing I should wear a cape..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:55pm Handy Haversack:

Can one just hand masks to unmasked strangers while yelling "Science! Science!"? Asking for a ... me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm karlward:

The fillings in my teeth have never been so validated
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm mariano:

We're talking about yelling "SCIENCE!" in the manner of the dude in "She Blinded Me with Science" right? If not, why not?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13pm Aitch:

Thomas Dubbley?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm mariano:

Haha, Aitch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm mariano:

...though I was thinking of the eccentric old scientist.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm Handy Haversack:

I don't know how else to yell it!
  11:21pm JakeGould:

Ohh… I like this 1980s bleeping and blooping.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Aitch:

Close as I could get Mariano!
Avatar 11:23pm TDK60:

Off to the sleeping chamber. Thanks Jesse; night all. (But wake me if you find a solution..)
  11:24pm JakeGould:

@TDK60: Rejuvenate yourself!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm Handy Haversack:

Well, the mosquitoes have awoken.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm mariano:

No, that was perfect, Aitch - an unexpected Tap reference!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm mariano:

'Night TDK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm Chop Scott:

Enjoying the show tonight Jesse--thanks! Also super happy to have Scott Williams back on the schedule--Cheers!!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm Rory:

Hey all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm Rory:

Very nice track here :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm Aitch:

Gently lulled into a sense of false security before Marcel comes to shred our brains (in a very good way)
Avatar 11:38pm Richy4619:

yay jj love your sets always so spiritually cleansing. this nina song was my first go to during this protest. thank you for getting it too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:39pm Rory:

@Aitch the brain needs a nice shredding every once in awhile.
  11:44pm JakeGould:

George Harrison was such a human.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44pm Vanessa bikes:

OH WOW this song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45pm Tommy in Neversink:

Nina owns this song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm Scott Williams:

Goddamn, Ms. Simone... wow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm mariano:

Yeah, this Nina song is devastatingly good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46pm Tommy in Neversink:

George Harrison song done by Nina
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm jj.:

yeah, that version really grabs my heart hard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48pm Rory:

So good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm mariano:

The other one that really got me recently was Alan Toussaint's cover of Paul Simon's "American Tune". Just piano and voice. Got me all choked up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm Handy Haversack:

Hell yeah! Well done, Jesse! (And obvs., Nina -- but always!)

Be well, everyone! And angry! And sympathetic!

Thanks, Jesse, Skeleton Skott, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm mariano:

Turning in, Handy? Have a good night!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:51pm McGroovey:

Great listening tonight, jj!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55pm Rory:

Thanks jj!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55pm jj.:
