Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm Gina Bacon:

Welcome to the Matinee!
Avatar 4:59pm vanhooserd:

D-Day!
Avatar 5:03pm WR:

Ears are wide open.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Gina Bacon:

vanhooserd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm Gina Bacon:

WR! Nice to see you!
  5:05pm bigplanetnoise:

Howdy from stuck in standstill traffic on 65 for over an hour now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Gina Bacon:

bigplanetnoise! I shall try to take your mind off of it all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Gina Bacon:

For better or worse...hahaha!
Avatar 5:07pm vanhooserd:

Where are you, Bob?
  5:08pm bigplanetnoise:

Hey David - by Dodge City, heading north. Apparently a trailer is overturned, blocking both lanes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Gina Bacon:

Dodge City sounds way cooler than your current situation.
Avatar 5:09pm vanhooserd:

My wife is from Alabama & we used to have a place at Navarre Beach. Been up & down that road many times. Been stuck a few.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Gina Bacon:

If there's a backroad, I know you'll find it!
Avatar 5:11pm Franco Twinkie:

Hey Gina! has your preferred lunch been reinstated yet, or is just another thing in the rear-view mirror, like so many things in this sorrowful time?
  5:11pm bigplanetnoise:

Saturday travel used to be the sweet spot, because there were no construction delays. Here’s payback, I guess. 106 outside, btw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, Franco! They're open! They were spared from the tornado, even though everything around them was fairly demolished. I'm back to my Saturday Slaw Dogs! Thanks for asking! (:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm doctorjazz:

Go Gonna and folks. Just finished shopping, can take off that fakakta mask!
Avatar 5:13pm Franco Twinkie:

Slaw Dogs, Oh man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Gina Bacon:

So good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm doctorjazz:

Slaw dogs, never tried then. Will be grilling Nathan's dogs, mustard and relish, pickles...(making myself hungry...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Gina Bacon:

Hey doctorjazz! That's always a good feeling.
Avatar 5:16pm Brian in UK:

Hey Gina. Feel for you Bob, early start Saturdays should be a fail-safe.

Gina, love the hot rod!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Gina Bacon:

Oh, man. Now I want another! Try a little cold sweet slaw on one, sometime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Gina Bacon:

Brian in UK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Gina Bacon:

That car's parked along a back alley where I run in the morning! It look like it's been there awhile.
Avatar 5:18pm Brian in UK:

Whatever happened to Oldsmobiles?
Avatar 5:18pm Franco Twinkie:

I know! I got into the slaw dogs for awhile, but I would use a flour tortilla instead of a bun, Everything else was regulation, however.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Gina Bacon:

That sound less doughy, and maybe better for the slaw...the bun gets a little soggy, unless you inhale it like I do.
Avatar 5:21pm Brian in UK:

What do you mean by slaw. Is it Coleslaw?
Avatar 5:24pm StringOFperils:

Out here....somewhere. Head. Phones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Gina Bacon:

Yes, coleslaw!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, StringOfPerils!
Avatar 5:25pm StringOFperils:

Howdy. :)
  5:25pm Eargasm!:

Good Afternoon, Gina!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Gina Bacon:

Good afternoon, Eargasm!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Doug Schulkind:

Love you, Robyn! Love you, Emma! Really love you, Gina!
Avatar 5:26pm Brian in UK:

This reminds me of Phil Ochs changing 'Mississippi Find Yourself Another Country To Be Part Of' to 'Richard Nixon Find Yourself Another Country To Be Part Of'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Gina Bacon:

Really love you back, Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Gina Bacon:

Yes, Brian! Sometimes a tweak is neccessary
Avatar 5:27pm Franco Twinkie:

Yes, I find hot dog buns such a negligible aspect of the event. A more suitable bread component might be an artisan loaf, but I digress. Sausage, mustard, slaw - the holy trinity.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Gina Bacon:

I Dream Of Weenie closed for a week because their supplier was affected, too...and they refused to use inferior buns!
Avatar 5:30pm Brian in UK:

A light breakfast buttered roll with a good thick Ludlow sausage and English mustard. Dark roast coffee, life is sweet.
Avatar 5:31pm Franco Twinkie:

My bother-in-law grew up impoverished in Northern California and his mom would make Not Dogs - everything but the weenie.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm Gina Bacon:

I keep threatening to open a hot dog wagon, as bigplanetnoise can confirm.
  5:32pm bigplanetnoise:

There’s been a lot of hotdog talk...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Gina Bacon:

There has!
Avatar 5:33pm Brian in UK:

Gina, can you give some idea of the split of male/female singers in Nashville. Appreciate that this is not scientific.
Avatar 5:34pm Franco Twinkie:

Gina, how about kind of a riff on The Oscar Meyer Wiener Mobile? You would look great driving that around Nashville.
Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Tim in TN:

I had two visits to the CMHOF that I'll cherish forever. The first was when it was hosting the Night Train To Nashville exhibit . I could have spent at least a week with that. The other was for a Q&A with the Dillards and John McEuen at the premier of the "A Night in the Ozarks" DVD. I hope the CMHOF reopens soon. It's fabulous.
Avatar 5:35pm Brian in UK:

@bpn, hope you are managing to keep hydrated.
  5:37pm bigplanetnoise:

Plenty of stuff to drink here. It’s the other that concerns me more !
Avatar 5:38pm Brian in UK:

It is OK until you stand up.
Avatar 5:39pm Julie P.:

Oh hi, is this where all the cool kids are hanging at?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Gina Bacon:

Good question, Brian. It's a fairly even split, I think, these days. At least in the Americana world.
Avatar 5:39pm Brian in UK:

First time heard 'hyperbole' sung in a song.
Avatar 5:39pm Sem:

Lurking and listening. Love this show, Gina.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Gina Bacon:

It was a foundational place for me when I moved here, Tim!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Gina Bacon:

Thank you, Sem! Glad you're here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Gina Bacon:

Julie P!
Avatar 5:40pm Franco Twinkie:

Hey Bob! sorry about the suck-ass weather. We are having June Gloom which is par for the coarse here, but we'll get punished soon enough.
Avatar 5:42pm Brian in UK:

Colfax puts me in mind of The Delines sublime first album.

Sem, like the lurking.
Avatar 5:42pm Julie P.:

All this hotdog talk. I haven't even been here five minutes and I'm hungry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

me too! HI!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Gina Bacon:

Granny Spicy Tuna!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Gina Bacon:

I love the way this one rolls along...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Gina Bacon:

...as the story unfolds...
Avatar 5:44pm Julie P.:

Kevin Gordon's voice has just a touch of Mark Knopfler in it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm Gina Bacon:

I hear that, Julie!
Avatar 5:45pm Julie P.:

Shoulda learned to play that guitar.
  5:46pm Eargasm!:

Hot dogs for everyone!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Gina Bacon:

Hooray for hotdogs!
  5:46pm Eargasm!:

Hey, Julie P!!!
Avatar 5:47pm Julie P.:

Hey Paul!
Avatar 5:48pm Franco Twinkie:

Granny! Do you ever go to that place on lower Haight to have a dawg? I go there after shopping at The Groove Merchant. Then I take my new records to the hot dog place and admire them while eating my lunch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Gina Bacon:

Me too, Julie. It just stares at me from over there in the corner.
Avatar 5:51pm Julie P.:

Actually Gina, I was quoting Money For Nothing, but I did at one time play guitar. Lately have been thinking about getting a small keyboard and taking up piano again.
  5:52pm Eargasm!:

Has Bigplanetnoise played ‘Zilch’ by The Hot Dog Stand?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Gina Bacon:

Aha...now I get it!
Avatar 5:52pm Brian in UK:

Never clapped so much when seeing the Blind Boys. Had a full on migraine next day. Everything has a price.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Gina Bacon:

Hahaha...worth it, though!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Gina Bacon:

I'm so glad thay're still singing up a storm.
Avatar 5:55pm Brian in UK:

I get whats called a Scintillating Scotoma. Could be Doug's first band.
Avatar 5:56pm StringOFperils:

I seem fascinated by that 1970 Chevy Impala. Completely ignoring the hot dogs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Doug Schulkind:

@Brian in UK
Nah. We broke up before getting "serious."
Avatar 5:57pm Brian in UK:

@Julie P we are getting four more chickens at the end of this month, Ex battery. They should have a better life.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm coelacanth∅:

hi Gina & all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm coelacanth∅:

could i have the keys to the car?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Gina Bacon:

coelacanthø! We might need a metal detector to find them!
Avatar 5:58pm StringOFperils:

Bet it smells like gas. And mildew.
Avatar 5:58pm Brian in UK:

Doug, visual differences?
Avatar 5:58pm Julie P.:

Brian, I'm sure they will be very grateful in their way.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Gina Bacon:

Yes! All of those great old car smells.
Avatar 6:00pm StringOFperils:

350 in the front. Possums in the back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm coelacanth∅:

might not be worse than a few of the cars i've had!
Avatar 6:00pm Sem:

The last time I heard anyone use the word "scintillating" it was the late and great Danny Gallivan, who called the Montreal Canadiens hockey games for years. Context: "Gump Worsley with another scintillating save.

Sounds are fearsome malady. Relief available?
  6:01pm Lou:

Thanks Gina!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:01pm doctorjazz:

It took a bar or 2 for me to clicky start this Becky Warren track!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm Gina Bacon:

She's so good, doctorjazz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm Gina Bacon:

Hahaha StringOfPerils! Most likely.
Avatar 6:03pm Brian in UK:

Sem, who would be a net minder. We went to a game down the road earlier this year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm coelacanth∅:

will i ever hang with the dive bar sweethearts again i wonder
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm Gina Bacon:

Becky's War Surplus album addresses the effects of dealing with PTSD in soldiers, some from personal experience.
Avatar 6:04pm Julie P.:

coel, don't give up hope!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Gina Bacon:

Someday, coelacanthø!
Avatar 6:06pm StringOFperils:

They're waiting for you coel. Only a dodgy choice away. It could all be yours.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm coelacanth∅:

yes a dodgy choice it may be... i did some monetary computations...
Avatar 6:08pm Sem:

So broadening, ice hockey.

Thank you, Gina, I pick up the remainder on the archives.
Avatar 6:08pm Brian in UK:

@coelacanth∅ Sasaparilla and an early night is the way forward.

Sem and trying to find your voice in the morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Gina Bacon:

Thanks for being here, Sem!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm coelacanth∅:

  6:10pm CC:

HI y'all...great first hour Gina..!..keep up the good work..!..Cheerz!!!...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, CC!
  6:11pm Mark R:

Sem left, but I used to hear Danny Gallivants in Detroit because we got Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights. Incidentally, Gump Worsley was the last goaltender to play without a mask.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm coelacanth∅:

-never tried sarsaparilla, except for a really delicious soft drink we used to sell at the natural food stores. (that i don't remember the name of)
Avatar 6:16pm Julie P.:

Pam Tillis is very talented. Got to work with her many years ago when TNN came to Orlando to shoot episodes for the Church Street Station show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Gina Bacon:

Oh wow, Julie! I love her. She's such a sweet soul. She's supposed to be calling in one of these days!
Avatar 6:17pm Julie P.:

Ahhhh, that pedal steel guitar. I'm swooning over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, Mark R!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Gina Bacon:

It's pretty swoony!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Gina Bacon:

It's good, coelacanthø! Root beer-ish.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Doug Schulkind:

Gump Worsley, wear your damn mask!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm Gina Bacon:

Gotta wear the mask.
Avatar 6:21pm Julie P.:

Gina, I don't know if you've ever seen any of those shows. That was 1989-90 ish and we had so much fun. I was freelancing as a PA for the network. Lots of young up and comers like Pam, Travis Tritt, Marty Stuart, Shelby Lynne et al, and also veterans like Carl Perkins and Jimmy Dean. Quite an experience!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Gina Bacon:

Is there a way to see any of them, Julie?
Avatar 6:22pm Julie P.:

They might be on YouTube or somewhere. I'll poke around.
Avatar 6:23pm vanhooserd:

My, this one is lush!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Gina Bacon:

I'd love to see!! How fun. I miss that side of showbiz. I did a lot of TV stuff for many years in NYC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Gina Bacon:

That's Luella singing, vanhooserd.
Avatar 6:25pm vanhooserd:

In the 90s we went to quite a few TV tapings here. They could be tiring, but we got a lot of good music for free.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Gina Bacon:

I'll bet there were a lot of good ones, vanhooserd!
Avatar 6:26pm vanhooserd:

Another great voice! Nice to know there are still singers who can sing & players that can play.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm Gina Bacon:

Yes!! I agree, vanhooserd.
Avatar 6:29pm vanhooserd:

I got to see Ricky Skaggs & Jerry Lee Lewis discuss sin & salvation. Ricky said "Jesus is always waiting". Jerry Lee said "Oh, I know he is, Ricky, but so is the Devil."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Gina Bacon:

Hahaha. Balance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:38pm Gina Bacon:

Chuck is the music director for Million Dollar Quartet! Among many other things.
Avatar 6:40pm Brian in UK:

Thanks Gina. Take care everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Gina Bacon:

Thanks for being here, Brian!
Avatar 6:41pm Julie P.:

See you, Brian!
Avatar 6:44pm StringOFperils:

You wouldn't think that Jesus or the Devil would have to hang around waiting. Line-ups everywhere. What a waste of good eternity.
Avatar 6:46pm Julie P.:

I hear a tinge of Marty Robbins and Freddy Fender in his voice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Gina Bacon:

Yes, Julie! It the great Raul Malo.
Avatar 6:47pm Julie P.:

It's the kind of voice you just know has been through some pain. Like Patsy Cline.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Gina Bacon:

Very soulful.
  6:48pm Listening Out There:

Listening for the first time. Good stuff!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm doctorjazz:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Gina Bacon:

Thanks, doctorjazz. I'm sure you know his work.
Avatar 6:55pm StringOFperils:

Thanks again for the window on Nashville. And yeah, what Dr. Jazz said....love this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Gina Bacon:

Thank you, StringOf Perils.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm doctorjazz:

(Did I actually slip into a time/space continuum and wind up at Jeff G:s show?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Gina Bacon:

Hahaha! Nope, it's me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm Gina Bacon:

This one's been calling me all week.
Avatar 6:58pm vanhooserd:

Batting a thousand today, Gina.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Gina Bacon:

I have many musical sides (:
  6:59pm Doug Schulkind:
