Duane got a brief mention this week in a NY Times interview with artist Moyra Davey:

What music do you play when you’re making art?

No music usually, but if I do listen, it will be to “The Duane Train.” Over 10 years of the show are archived on the W.F.M.U. website.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm bore in suffern:

about to cross gwb on my bike, any word where the protests will be today?
  12:32pm JakeGould:

Hey Duane!

If anyone cares, there are relatively large (for the town and population) protests happening all over Upstate New York. Places like Saranac Lake even; not just larger places like Poughkeepsie.

They might not be the epicenter of anything (and they know it) but in towns where everyone knows everyone and speaking up is shunned, it’s kind of a big deal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Gaylord Fields:

Duane, thank you for starting off the show with a lesson from my teacher, Mr. McDaniels. So excited about Al Kent!
Avatar 12:33pm Snoochienucci:

yeahhhh Duane! Hello Conductor and all the passengers! seems like we're in for one funking hell of a ride today
  12:34pm JakeGould:

@BoreinSuffern: I predict the usual places like Union Square, Washington Square and the Barclays Center. But also saw there is another protest at Gracie Mansion tonight at 7:00pm which means they plan on breaking curfew if you feel up for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm efd:

I know it's trite to say you could listen to so-and-so read a phone book, but I really could listen to Lou Rawls read a phone book. Especially with this backing track!

@alanr: She designed a 'commandante Ramona' from the Zapatista rebeliion in Chiapas in the 90s, that is modelled after the Ramones logo. (it also says on the inside circumference of the circle fo the logo, "La Lucha Continua". and in the inside of the are banners that say, "Justicia y Dignidad" as Ramona is holding a pencil and roses, as she was the subcomadante of educacion.

If you (or anyone else wants one), she still has boxes of them, and will send them to you. (Unfortunately, I believe she only has a Men's Medium as the largest size currently, but she could always order more).
Avatar 1:04pm northguineahills:

@Jake: thanks, my wife lives 2 blocks from Eastern Parkway and Bedford. Altough she's up to her eyeballs w/ freelance shit, I asked her to show up and at least take pics...

@Bore: You’re welcome! But if you are coming in from elsewhere, Union Square is always a consistent place where protests happen in general and not just nowadays.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm Otis Fodder:

Hello Al Kent, sending good vibes from Canada to Scotland. Here we go!
  1:15pm JakeGould:

@prudy: Kingston, NY? No idea. But it might be cool to see if there is some unified resource for non NYC protests. Did see this article on yesterday’s protest in Kingston and it sounds right. www.dailyfreeman.com...
  1:17pm prudy:

thanks JG. I don't read the Freeman as it is an upstate republican mouthpiece, but thanks for reference..will check it out..
  1:18pm JakeGould:

@prudy: I did not know that. But the fact the coverage in a publication like that is positive is a good sign. I grew up in Brooklyn where Westchester is Upstate… *ducks* Sorry!

Avatar 2:08pm Snoochienucci:

@bore i love biking to Duane. That has been my usual lunch break bike ride time during quarantine. I went earlier to avoid the rain, but still enjoying the Train just as much
  2:08pm JakeGould:

@Bore: Wander around and enjoy all of the closed or boarded up shops. But if you are seeking shelter from the rain, I believe there’s scaffolding up on the blocks to the East of Washington Square Park between University Place and Broadway.

Those blocks are always very quiet and peaceful; even moreso nowadays so you can grab a decent break there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm bore in suffern:

I've found shelter right both of the park, some friendly doormen letting me camp under some scaffolding
