Try to improve my functioning by having tasty sounds going in background during work. The 7th Voyage of Sinbad was one of the first movies I saw in theater as a child. Fun and formative.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Otis Fodder:

Nice show start ARB. Flipping the script, lovely.
  1:05pm Martinibomb:

When I first moved to portland the police would stop me all the time thinking I was a black guy - I used to wear a black hoodie all the time didn't know the hoodie was a gang thing coming from the rural area. Was always crazy to turn around and see their face when they discovered I was white.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm joe:

Avatar 1:07pm StringOFperils:

@martinibomb..funny story, and then sad...and yet funny
  1:08pm Martinibomb:

^they probably stopped me like that 15-20 times.. it was a lot. ALways they'd tell me I fit a description
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm Franco Twinkie:

WR, Your avatar, the baby. When I first saw Captain Beefbeart on this afternoon dance show called 9th Street West in 1966, they had that babies face on the drum head. I thought it was the Gerber baby, which I loved, But it's not! But no matter, it's a great baby none the less.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:09pm joe:

I tuned in just to catch Heems refrence to Michael Stewart. His name has come up a few times for obvious reasons as of late and it is bringing me back to being of the first times at 9 years old I really was absorbing situations like this and how I was trying to reconcile how what he did in anyway justified his demise and understanding maybe the police were not what I thought and had been taught they were

  1:14pm Martinibomb:

Love the Blackjacks you played their Ani Kuni before which is fantastic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm ARB:

oh yes, please do RRC!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Otis Fodder:

RRC - Ah, you should. Do you listen to Billy Jam on Friday evenings on the mothership (connection)?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Otis Fodder:

New schedule though, don't see Billy there. Got the archives though, so much to dig through.
Avatar 1:15pm recordrouletteclub:

UHHHH..no. I guess I should! I didn't know.
Thanks Otis!
  1:16pm Martinibomb:

Man billy is like the nicest dood I ended up talking to him offline for awhile somehow and he's just like the sweetest guy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Otis Fodder:

RRC - Hold it now... hit it! wfmu.org...
Avatar 1:16pm recordrouletteclub:

I mostly listen to old tapes of FMF on Hot 97 Street Jams, etc. I love 80's / 90's / Indie 2000's stuff too
Avatar 1:16pm StringOFperils:

Billy Jam's show is good. I've listened a couple of times. I don't get to hear half of that stuff ever, so by all means, if anyone is feeling generous with their large comprehensive hip-hop collection, do a long radio show, please.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Otis Fodder:

RRR & SoP - You might both dig these mixtapes I posted on the blog in '97 - blog.wfmu.org...
  1:18pm Martinibomb:

Check out Damu The Fudgemunk @RRC he's kinda my current fave hip hop producers very late 80s boom bap sound which is what I love the most - but I love old Akai Samplers/Drum Machines 12bit sounds

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Otis Fodder:

Dunno MB. Here in Montreal, I get my supplies from www.duplication.ca...
Avatar 1:20pm solo mon:

I’m gonna be playing some rap and 80s electro on my show! :)
  1:21pm Martinibomb:

the new Damu is him collaborating with Archie Shepp in the studio - producing live musicians instead of sampling records it's pretty good @RRC
  1:22pm Martinibomb:

@Otis thank you!! oh man I've been trying to find something like this for a long time with no luck.. i've visited duplication before but I must have missed this. thanks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23pm Otis Fodder:

Nice Solo Mon! I have so much 80s electro/old school 12" singles here. Down to pre-ordering the Egyptian Lover box set a few years back (but have most of the 12s). Will be tuned in 4 sure, like al b sure!
Avatar 1:23pm solo mon:

Gotta check that out MB!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm ARB:

@martinibomb I get tapes made at ENAS in LA, they're cheap and don't fuss about copyright
Avatar 1:25pm solo mon:

Otis- I only have a fraction of what I used to- I sold most of my record collection to finance a film lol choices.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm WR:

@109, Franco. Don't remember where the baby image first came from, but used by Beefheart in promoting the Safe As Milk album. There was a full size bumper sticker inside the first run or two of the album. I got my copy signed by Vliet years later when he was touring in the late 70s. 78 I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Otis Fodder:

Solo - Here too, purged several times moving around the US/Canada. Re-purchased a bunch over the past decade that I sold off years back, but have dragged around some stuff for 30 years...like the entire Ultimate Breaks & Beats LPs, stuff like that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm WR:

Ok, into a meeting, laters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Franco Twinkie:

Otis, can you give me a heads up for tomorrows recipe? I want to make sure I have everything, so I don't have to run to the store in my pajamas in the morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Otis Fodder:

Yes of course 'Franco Apricot'... let's visit Trader Vic's and all have Drunken Apricots with Hot Cheese Balls. www.wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Otis Fodder:

ARB - Speaking of records, I bet your 7" 45rpm collection is killer!
Avatar 1:31pm solo mon:

ARB I love this one!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Franco Twinkie:

WR, I still have my copy of Safe As Milk I found in the cut-out bin at Kresges when I was 15. It didn't have the sticker. But I did get Don to sign my copy of Trout Mask Replica when he was at the radio station down the street from my house in 1978.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm ARB:

Otis, A bunch got stolen a few years back out of my car after a gig. You can imagine how stupid I felt....I had just purchased an insurance policy a few weeks prior though and had meticulously catalogued everything so I got lucky and could replace a lot of them with the insurance settlement, definitely not all though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm ARB:

The real tragic part is someone saw them all in a dumpster but it got emptied before I could get there
  1:35pm Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm Franco Twinkie:

  1:36pm JtotheK:

Nice Lou Rawls track!
  1:36pm Martinibomb:

sorry that tragic need a bigger T heh I had some one break my window and steal some not fun
Avatar 1:36pm solo mon:

Omg ARB seriously that sucks! happened to me one time, someone stole a whole crate of records while I was loading but they were spotted by friend in a free pile outside a record store. I got a few back. But geez I coulda told them they were too scratched up and used to re sell!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm ARB:

that's my psa for renters insurance, i never had it before and panic bought it when Elysian Park next to my house caught on fire
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Otis Fodder:

Ugh, that's horrible ARB. I do know how that feels, having a milk crate of 12" singles stolen from a DJ booth years ago (at a club City Nights in SF, late 80s). I remember they got my Aqua Boogie 12"... of course I replaced it easy, but still, steal my Parliament and my feet failed me then as they would now. --- Renters Insurance however, for sure, been keeping that up for years as you never know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Otis Fodder:

Wow Solo... you and I both. The crate killed. Sucked so much.
Avatar 1:40pm solo mon:

Also happened in San Francisco!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Otis Fodder:

Must have been 1989, maybe 1990 in San Fran. Was also doing guest nights at Palladium at that time and a club Muggs in Castro Valley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm Franco Twinkie:

The worst record theft I've had to endure was when my car was stolen while I was sleeping on the beach in Santa Cruz. Earlier that day I had bought The Blues Project Live At Town Hall and Sleep Walk by Santo and Johnny, and they were in the car with all my money.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Otis Fodder:

Sorry to hear of that Franco. Loss of vinyl + cash... but stealing Santo and Johnny... noooooo! One of the greatest instrumentals ever imho.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Otis Fodder:

Itchikidana is so catchy, thanks for that turn-on! Just fav'ed it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm ARB:

thanks otis, yeah thats a nice one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm ARB:

Another super singles show, thanks ARB!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Franco Twinkie:

Once again, me thinks this that this show is just to damn short. But I guess that's part of what makes it so damn sweet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm ARB:
