Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Hey there everybody!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Stanley:

Thank Ghod. I thought I'd missed it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm Doug Schulkind:

Mary H has kind of adopted Pittsburgh as a second home. At least, as a second creative locus. She has done several residencies with City of Asylum here, and has found herself on the group's advisory board. She has performed in Pittsburgh, in a multitude of contexts 10-12 times over the past few years. It has been a glory.
Avatar 3:14pm david w:

Is City Of Asylum a venue? I didn't know it.
  3:15pm ruth:

Interesting Doug. MAybe she went to school there? All hose colleges!
  3:16pm ruth:

I really need a new keyboard again... now my T is stuck
  3:18pm ruth:

This is great. Loving guitar sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Doug Schulkind:

City of Asylum is a number of things. At its core, it's an org that offers support (stipend, lodging, etc) to writers in exile from oppressive regimes. Over the years, they have become a beacon of support for creative music, film, poetry and other arts. They purchased a huge space where they present concerts, screenings, readings virtually every night. And they run a small bookshop selling critical works by embattled writers (and others). And they do the most amazing job of development and fund-raising resulting in the almost unbelievable reality that everything they host is FREE. I'm not sure if another organization like it exists elsewhere.
Avatar 3:21pm david w:

Mix by the amazing Woramon Jamjod, Roulette's tech director, who has been feeding me audio during this lockdown.
  3:23pm ruth:

Kudos to Woramon the great. @Doug that's amazing. So hard to raise money these days for the arts.
Avatar 3:24pm david w:

Thanks, Doug. A thing to support. Everybody in?
  3:32pm Che Chen:

interesting to learn about City of Asylum!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Doug Schulkind:

I think they would be a great fit for any project you're working on.
  3:39pm Che Chen:

@Doug -- thanks, will definitely look more into it. good to know about something in Pittsburgh. i've always liked the town but haven't had the easiest time finding gigs there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm Doug Schulkind:

If you know Mary (I don't, personally) or can reach her, I am confident she would be a help. I'm pretty sure he has assisted CoA with its music programming.
  3:48pm Che Chen:

@Doug - thanks for the tip. i don't know her well but think i can find a way to get in touch.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm doctorjazz:

Just a quick hi, enjoying all these guitars!
Avatar 3:54pm WR:

Curious about the rest of the Drummer day today?
Kenzo’s Last Ever (reality in a can) 5-7pm
Gary Sullivan’s Bodega Pop 7-10pm: Far Out East: Rare South Korean seventies sounds. Taiwan's strangest singer-songwriter. The freaky side of Cui Jian. A left-field J-Pop legend.
Sam Segal’s If You Lose Your Horse 10-midnite (no predictions, just delicious)

Hi Chresti!

I just went to the apothecary or Driggs for some overpriced toothpaste, soap, and hand cream. But just to support the locals...

You want to make sure your breath smells good when you wear a mask.
  4:41pm ruth:

Who else would anybody smell good for?
Avatar 4:42pm david w:

Also, anything I can do to direct folks to local eastablishments, small positive.
