I never saw any of the Cinemax season until about two decades later when NBC reran it weeknights in the 12:35 AM-1:05 AM slot. I suppose it's been compiled on home video?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I like the scene of the SCTV opening where the guy lifts up the board and pulls out a sandwich.
Avatar 1:18pm David Shortell:

Astrid Kirchherr, the German early Beatles photographer, died a couple of weeks ago. Maybe there should be a documentary about her too.
Avatar 1:19pm Joe B:

she turned down opportunities for that - she was always reluctant to exploit her beatles connection

she is prominent in the pete best best of the beatles dvd, which is great

  1:47pm Derek D.:

@David Shortell, re: SCTV Cinemax. No, I don't believe they've ever been officially released, like the NBC shows were. I bought bootleg DVDs on sell .com, taken from someone's VHS collection. Overall quite pleased with them.

Re: Perini Scleroso
Am I correct in supposing that Perini was from Lutonia? That's the same fictional country that the Shmenge Brothers hailed from. It was announced on the syndicated 2nd season premiere that Lutonian terrorists kidnapped SCTV station manager Moe Green, who was never heard from again. Edith Prickley assumed his position.
  2:13pm Mark in Toronto:

@McGroovey: sure, a fair trade. We would also pick up Armand Schaubroeck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Handy Haversack:

Sitting out in the back with this show. Joe, can you do three more hours? Sounding so good. Blissing out back here.

  2:31pm Derek D.:

Ha, I never thought Perini was from same place. Seems different to me, google search brings up nothing. Shmemges seemed Polish-ish at least. Perini really have no idea where, assume that's part of the joke, with her gibberish.

Years after SCTV's syndication, Harold Ramis made a guest appearance during the show's NBC run. Oh goody!, I thought back then. We'll finally find out what the Lutonians did with Moe Green!
But no. It wasn't addressed!

@David Shortell Ha. Harold Von Ramis is credited co-writer and director of "Das Boobs," their mash-up of "Das Boot" and "Porky's". But don't think Moe was involved.

Still have Joe's playlist up, listening to Olivia... I thought she was playing the [Rochester] Isotopes, until the synthetic drums started. The Rochester Isotopes sounded kinda like if Sonic Youth played garage rock after listening to Fly Ashtray. Or something.

Huh. So the Isotopes still exist. I did not know that. theisotopes.com There's stuff on SoundCloud.

Surfier than I remember.

Another great instrumental/surf band was Duke Galaxy & the Pipeliners.

And my friend's band Serious did songs about toilet problems mostly.
