Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:17am Handy Haversack:

@Wendy del Formggaio: not sure you saw this at the end of Julie's show last week, so I'm reposting here!

Do you have ANY idea how happy you made me when you cited the Joey Ramone unit (JRu) on the air on WAB last week? That made my WEEK! I am glad my humble contribution to science has gone mainstream!

I picked up some smoked gouda in your honor last week! And tripled my supply of pecorino romano so I can keep working on my cacio e pepe.

Thanks!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:18am Wendy del Formaggio:

@Joe: Thank you. It didn't exactly go well. Moving sucks, esp during a pandemic. But, it's finished, so that is quite well! And so am I.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:18am melinda:

Morning everyone. I groggy.
  9:20am ami ad:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am spodiodi:

good morning, everyone
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:21am Wendy del Formaggio:

@Handy: I didn't see your comment last week. I was working so not online all the time. (I work with paper, believe it or not!)

I didn't realize you invented the JRu! I had heard it from other sources, so consider yourself successful in improving scientific accessibility.

Smoked gouda melts real well. And hooray for cacio e pepe.

Happy cooking!
Avatar 9:21am Joe McG:

@Wendy: Oh, sorry to hear, but I'm glad it's over. @melinda: This music is good for groggy.

  9:32am The Butterman:

Yo, Joe!
Avatar 🎸 9:33am TDK60:

Brian, yes, we need to send Joe to Cropredy, in '21.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am melinda:

@Joe Fairport is always good! I find when I'm groggy I am more likely to get sucked into reading articles online that pop up on my homepage, and staring at the screen first thing in the morning makes grog worse. Tea and folk tunes will help.
  9:34am Rachel Bo Bachel:

I LOVE this song, Joe! I only know the Anne Briggs version. So creepy and beautiful. Loving everything you’re playing
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:34am Wendy del Formaggio:

@ami ad: Yes, it was a positive move. Just really stressful. I love my new place. It's very peaceful here. Right now, from where I'm sitting, I can see a magnolia tree in full bloom. Yesterday I snipped some lilacs to bring in the house. There's lots of birds in the yard, and a tall stand of pines behind the house.
  9:35am Rick A.:

This is a great set of hazy acid folk for a holiday Monday, Joe. The San Francisco band It's A Beautiful Day parallels these songs, especially their song "White Bird"
  9:35am Listerner:

@ Wendy del Formaggio: Hi, just for the record Handy did not invent the Joey Ramone unit.
  9:35am morphe':

Avatar 9:35am Joe McG:

Yo, Butterman! @TDK: Ha! It sort of kills me that Richard Thompson lives about 20 miles from here and we can't have him play on the radio every day. But his at-home concerts have been great. Hey RBR, I sure do LOVE Anne Briggs. Hey Rick A and morphe'!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:36am Brian in UK:

@Rick A, for some strange reason I was humming White Bird in the garden this morning.

  9:38am Rick A.:

@Brian in UK: "White Bird" is a great song for this moment. We all wished we could fly away, the ultimate outdoor social distancing!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:39am Brian in UK:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:40am LastWhiteRhino:

Avatar 9:40am Lisboner Pasc:

  9:40am Rick A.:

Hi Joe, I'm free from work today. So I can listen. I would have loved to be in a small venue, sitting on the floor, hearing this Trees song live. That would be an experience!
Avatar 9:41am Lisboner Pasc:

Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:41am Brian in UK:

There are House Martins nesting next door in the eaves. Such acrobatics as they catch flies.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:43am Brian in UK:

Long live small venues. Wern't the Small Venues a band from Oxford in the Seventies, no, just kidding.
Avatar 9:44am Lisboner Pasc:

The Zodiac was a great Oxford venue back in the day! Don't know if the The Wheatsheaf / Port Mahon are still operating, I think The Cellar closed. It was great to grow up and see all the experimental rock in the mid 2000s although I missed the boat on Deerhoof playing there.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:44am Brian in UK:

@Lisboner Pasc I used to have E Pluribus Unam many years ago, got lost in moving house.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:46am Wendy del Formaggio:

@Brian in UK: I had a few pairs of cardinals here, but they may be nesting further north as I haven't seen them in a few weeks. I also had a gang of goldfinches. And the gray catbirds are still around with their really cool songs. This yard is excellent for birds. Bushes and small trees, and then tall trees just behind the yard. The crows hang out in the tall trees.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:47am Handy Haversack:

Great set, Joe. It's nice to be listening while reading and lounging under the dog instead of working and tied to the screen.

Gonna go sit outside later and watch the birds, too!
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:48am Brian in UK:

Wendy what joy and peace. Saw a Wheatear the other day and my wife heard a Cuckoo the other evening. The bird feeder is doing overtime with so many youngsters to be fed.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:50am Brian in UK:

Joe and if you go back another fifty years 1920, before mass produced records in 1925.
  9:51am Rick A.:

Joe, Memorial Day used to also be called Irene's birthday, back before the Monday holiday law was passed. When I was very little I was so pleased that they had a parade for my day too!
Avatar 9:54am Lisboner Pasc:

@Brian: Cheers!
Parrots rocking out in the courtyard of the shared flats here, there are four of them, they're wild! You don't see them so much in Lisbon at least in my experience, but they are supposed to have been brought here by rich families from old Ptgs colonies.

Joe, your voice is soothing for a busy afternoon here. Nice stuff!
Avatar 9:54am Joe McG:

This song triggers a memory. On MLK Jr. day 2017, my wife was driving me to the airport on a trip to deal with my mom's estate. We were listening to Surface Noise in the car. Joe played the Gil Scott-Heron song. It was a melancholy trip to take though listening to Joe made it better. My wife and I both noted the name of this album. This is a great track too. Maybe it's time to purchase this.

I recognized the melody of that Edith Piaf tune as 'black denim trousers and motorcycle boots' by the cheers.
