Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04am Ath:

SV, any tip on where to find the Yoran album from last week?
Avatar 12:04am cocoon:

hello ♡
Avatar 12:04am sv:

i spent all of my youth not knowing where the chanting children in the beginning came from - watched the wicker man a month ago and was pleased to hear it in a scene about halfway through
Avatar 12:05am sv:

hey cocoon! ath, a friend of a friend of a friend of an acquaintance tells me it might be on soulseek
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07am Ath:

Nic Cage wicker man? ;) Thanks sv!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am Richy4619:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am Scott Williams:

Very much enjoying your skewed pastoralism, SV! And the chanting kids from Wicker Man took me waaay back
Avatar 12:09am sv:

anytime i hear a track from that record [any one at all] i'm really floored by the recollection of just how good it is

i ignored his name is alive for a while because i thought it was a preachy band!

hey Mr.P!
  12:30am Hoky Hairickson:

oh ya. must say its been such a good day. snowed in with wfmu
Avatar 12:32am sv:

yeah, honestly HNIA really has a christian metalcore band name [not their fault, how could they have known]
Avatar 12:32am sv:

right on, hoky! where ya tuned in from ?
  12:34am Hoky Hairickson:

from the most elevated incorporated town in the usa. good to know the signal transmits...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am Ath:

~ Very relaxing ~
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:41am coelacanth∅:

well -they can be all the christian they want, just not preachy!
Avatar 12:42am mb:

Mr. Pumpy, how do? A OK here
Avatar 12:45am northguineahills:

@SV: Trey Many was the drummer for HNIA for a while, and his band was Velour 100, a shoegaze christian-lite band...
Avatar 12:47am sv:

ngh, that's certainly piqued my interest. never heard of velour 100 before
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47am Mr. Pumpy:

mb...yup yup. Hanging in and taking names.
Avatar 12:49am northguineahills:

Via said band, I found a few 'christian' bands (they were on christian labels) but you'd never hear anything overtly christian about them, take the great band Starflyer 59, a great shoegaze band, the best w/ the brit ones IMHO (they're lyrics aren't dirty). They just hooked their bandwagon onto a label just to record and get a record out. Heck, my friend (an atheist), used to do ambient/experimental eclectronics and at Christian fests just to get paid to get gigs (a lot of musicians w/ xtian connections do this).
  12:50am scobot:

A Xian band? Really. Perhaps I’m not in on the joke. I know that Lovetta Pippen is a gospel singer.
Avatar 12:50am northguineahills:

(I grew up in a fundy family)
Avatar 12:51am sv:

i wondered about that growing up [was only allowed to listen to christian metal for a fair chunk of time] - always figured that some of the bands were just latching on to ascend with limper competition
  12:52am glue_horizon:

Scraping the kief together
Avatar 12:52am northguineahills:

I remember me and my friends convincing our youth pastor when I was 16 that Dinosaur Jr was xtian.. (so we could listen to them on the bus PA).
Avatar 12:54am northguineahills:

...and then we accidentally put Dinosaur's "Bug" on, luckily the chaperones were asleep (damn, that was 28 years ago).
  12:54am pat:

love this one. so pretty
  12:54am scobot:

I saw Petra in concert. That was during my Amy Grant days.
  12:55am zenkoan:

SV, what exquisite music tonight.
Avatar 12:57am sv:

i had a nice youth pastor i used to trade music with a little when i was a teenager
Avatar 12:57am sv:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17am Mr. Pumpy:

  1:17am Hoky Hairickson:

  1:19am spodiodi:

hey Mr.Pumpy!
Avatar 1:31am glennfromglendale:

Hello all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am Mr. Pumpy:

Yeah...drone it out. This sounds like a hurdy-gurdy pumped through some pedals and amps. I love it. I've been eyeing a hurdy-gurdy for some time, and this current situation, while taking some cash out of my pocket, may just make me crazy enough to drop some coin on one. Hurd the Gurd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34am coelacanth∅:

hey glenn (fg)
Avatar 1:36am glennfromglendale:

Tuning in from my friends couch! They left town and trusted me with their garden so this essential worker is having a mini vacation 5 blocks from my own apartment
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am coelacanth∅:

Mr.P i did a piece that sounds very much like that -i never thought of the hurdy gurdy but now that you mention it...
anyway it was done by bowing a violin (2-3 tracks) and slowing the tape down to 1/2 speed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am Mr. Pumpy:

Nice transition to Slowdive.
  1:40am Seamus:

much love. slowdive is so good :
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am Mr. Pumpy:

coel, thanks for sharing. Is there any way I could hear that? I love that shit. I have done similar things mostly with guitar. I've used both a bow, and an e-bow. Also done things with my arsenal of pedals cranked up to where I find the sweet spot where sustain and tone intersect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am coelacanth∅:

glenn that sounds like a nice arrangement
- especially if they left refreshments
Avatar 1:41am glennfromglendale:

I feel like Slowdive is a shared musical experience for multiple generations. I’ve watched old mod folks bond with millennials over slowdive
Avatar 1:42am glennfromglendale:

The arraignment is fantastic but I rapidly need to find an iPhone charger in an android household
  1:43am Seamus:

@glenn i hope you're right. much love :)
  1:44am Seamus:

i love this
  1:46am Seamus:

bonkers beautiful :D
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49am coelacanth∅:

hmm well Pumpy i had my bandcamp link on my profile but removed it a couple years ago because i decided i didn't like a lot of it, and one day would remaster some of it...a lot of it! ...which i've only started doing a few weeks ago.
that one piece i'm not touching though.
- i could email you a link; or wetransfer you the track, but i'd like to hear your's as well! sounds right up my alley
Avatar 1:49am ToTetsu:

Someone arrive who stole all of your breaki-fast
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00am Mr. Pumpy:

@coel, I'll send you an email thingy...and you can decide what you want to send. Unfortunately that stuff is buried in hundreds of hours of wav files with no names other than time and date on my desktop computer. I honestly don't think I could find it. All the same, I have plenty of other recorded shite I could share, just not that particular thing. Be on the lookout for email correspondence.

Avatar 2:25am mb:

Silly of me to incriminate myself on the trons, but... i'm about to go out and deface a bunch of these 'Thank-you Heroes' placards. One even has 8 insignias and not one for truck drivers. Really irks me that we are getting little mention if any recognition at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am Mr. Pumpy:

mb...utmost respect to truck drivers. I ain't blowing smoke. We'd have nothing without you!
Avatar 2:32am glennfromglendale:

Mb: truck drivers have kept what’s left of convenience and modern consumption going and people don’t realize how ugly things could have gotten if the supply chain doesn’t have the folks that make it work driving.
Avatar 2:33am glennfromglendale:

Much love for all the strange miles that keep society together
Avatar 2:37am mb:

Thx folks. By deface i mean draw the company truck on them. Maybe write "Horns of Love" on the trailer. Get some free advertising the American way. haha
