Avatar 6:08am Really Lisa (elle elle leelee LL):

Lol I started over w a new account after someone turned on me. It’s ‘Really Lisa’ I threw in the elle elle etc for a one time, so you’d maybe recall I’ve been posting on here as the others since approx 2017.
Hi Andrew in Toronto :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10am Jeffrey Davison:

Really Lisa: sorry that happened to you. Glad you're here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11am Jeffrey Davison:

This morning's show was recorded using Bandcamp tracks, first time ever since recording the show from home. As you will recall, the shows prior to this were 100% CDs. This show is all from Bandcamp, as I was itching to get to some new stuff.
Avatar 6:12am Really Lisa:

Thank you Jeffrey, I’m glad to be here, decided not to allow that person to keep away from my only social media.
Avatar 6:16am Really Lisa:

Ugh to keep *me away from...
Anyway, glad to be here and listening.

At long last (and god help me), I finally joined Instagram:
Only joined two days ago, and hope to post once a day. Other than featuring album covers and music-related things, I will likely offer other scintillating content as well.
  6:34am Aaron Working in Newark:

Good morning jeffre6
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Aaron Working in Newark...and yes, I was originally in Take 6, but was kicked out, for lack of any musical talent.
  6:38am ?:

Morning Jeffrey and everybody else, hope you are all taking care and staying safe, loving the tunes so far today especially the Byssus number
  6:39am Philip:

Sorry forget to put my name on
Swag For Life Member 6:41am Roadside Picnic:

Morning all , music sounding really good Jeffrey. I think with Cds and downloads youtube etc the art of the album cover was lost a bit? Some of the prog/ concept album covers were amazing. Look forward to seeing your instagram
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43am Jeffrey Davison:

Philip: good morning. Me? Not working, so much easier to stay safe. I feel for all those who not only work but can't help but be in close contact with others.
Roadside Picnic: good morning, and thanks. Yeah, I'm sure I'll put up album covers, mostly of records I love, but others of particular visual interest.

Avatar 6:57am Fredericks:

Does one use a credit card to buy music from bandcamp?
How secure is it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57am Jeffrey Davison:

clarke: good morning, and thanks.
btw, ruth, who is board op this morning, fixed the glitch in the Orpine song. Also, it's pronounced Or-pine (like the tree)
  6:58am Philip:

Freakzone is still going Jeffrey as is Freakier Zone,BBC6 music, it’s a great listen naturally not up to the standard of WFMU but nothing is but it’s a very impressive second.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:59am Jeffrey Davison:

Fredericks: good morning. Not sure, but I use Paypal to buy tracks from Bandcamp. I suppose they are as secure as anywhere else. It seems that hackers are eventually going to get into everything!
Avatar 6:59am Sylvia (France-NYC):

Hello, Jeffrey and all!

@Fredericks: Bandcamp is very secure, you can pay with credit cards, paypal
  7:00am clarke:

as secure as paypal is (which is so far so good) bandcamp is solid
  7:00am clarke:

also there was some brian eno in there, somewhere, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01am Jeffrey Davison:

Philip: Freak Zone was unknown to me. Looks worth checking. And thank you. I agree that no one plays the range of music that we do here.
Sylvia (France-NYC): welcome...
The eno was merely bed music between Peaceful Solutions and Shrunken Planet.
  7:02am clarke:

ah. i love that stuff!!
  7:02am clarke:

ruth booth did a good fill!!
  7:04am clarke:

speaking of robbie robertson, i have not seen the new doc, but he has NOT been trending well, in recent years. i wonder if this doc is backlash against the backlash???
  7:05am clarke:

for me, robertson would be in my hall of fame for JUST "filling in" for bloomfield with dylan, let alone his guitar work with The Band
Avatar 7:05am Ignatatus666:

Greetings Jeffrey
*To expect perfection is in itself a flaw
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am Jeffrey Davison:

clarke: I know there is a lot of negative feeling towards Robbie Robertson, and I had harbored some questions about how he was with other members of The Band. I doubt that the doc is a reaction to anything, but I do think that it may change one's thinking about Robertson.
  7:07am clarke:

but, levon's book was not too kind to robertson's rep, etc
  7:08am clarke:

i will have to check out the film, but i am kinda burnt-out on docs, these days - TOO MANY! all in the same style/patterns
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:08am Jeffrey Davison:

I would like to read about The Band, since they are one of my all-time favorites (the brown album!) and try to get a more complete picture.
Ignatatus666: good morning, and that's a good one!
Swag For Life Member 7:08am Roadside Picnic:

My fav bbc 6 music show-tho stopped long ago was called Mint-about crate rummaging for vinly treasures . but yeah wfmu leads the way now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10am Jeffrey Davison:

Roadside Picnic: ooh, that sounds good.
clarke: yeah, a lot of docs out there now, but I feel that I know so little about music, the history and backstory of musicians and recordings. So much to know...
  7:11am clarke:

the thing about The Band is that there were a lot of books that told 'the myth' - and sometimes ignore the internal dynamics.
  7:12am clarke:

as The Dude says "new information has come to light, man"
  7:13am clarke:

some nice woodwinds, here!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13am Jeffrey Davison:

clarke: ah, I see. I think I'll grab Levon's book. Total respect to Levon Helm...and The Dude abides!
  7:14am clarke:

well, levon is very bitter about robbie, i shall warn you. but, as far as a player - impeccable.
  7:14am clarke:

and like any, er, band, they all end up mostly hating each other.
  7:16am clarke:

one of the saddest moments on film, for me, is in The Last Waltz when scorcese is in the studio with danko and he just has this moment when he ponders life after the break-up - it is pretty heart-rendering.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16am Jeffrey Davison:

I gotta watch that again...
  7:17am clarke:

and yes, jeffrey, there is still SO much to learn!!
  7:19am clarke:

i might liken that danko scene to, say, the moment in Requiem For A Dream when jennifer connely has to get up on that board-room table...yike.
  7:19am clarke:

also dude: nice set you got goin' here!!!
Avatar 7:21am Really Lisa:

Thank you Clarke and Jeffrey. Your chat reminded me The Last Waltz is one of my few DVDs. A rainy Saturday seems a good day to revisit.
  7:22am clarke:

supposedly robbie's mic was turned off for the filming onstage - until in between the songs, ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25am Jeffrey Davison:

clarke: thanks, and didn't know that about robbie's mic...ha!
  7:26am clarke:

that's what levon said/wrote
  7:27am clarke:

robert warren (ex-Fleshtones) has been playing bass with The Mammals, live, lately!! such a great player
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27am Jeffrey Davison:

Love the Fleshtones!
  7:28am clarke:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32am Nulsh:

Mornin' amigos!
Hey Jeffrey! Puh-leeze excuse my tardiness, I've missed loads! Gonna have to hit the archive!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33am Jeffrey Davison:

Nulsh, you're always welcome, and yeah, I depend heavily on the archive!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34am Brian in UK:

Hello Jeffrey Ruth and souls.

I really miss Rick Danko's voice. Jason Isbell wrote a lovely song 'Danko/Manual', kind of about life on the road but also about two heroes. When I saw Neil Diamond (who is a great songwriter) appearing on the Last Waltz, something seemed odd. Robbie Robertson took full advantage of the close environment of Dylan/Big Pink to learn, and why not. Not a big electric guitar fan so I found his solos tedious, still what a BAND.
  7:36am clarke:

robbie's solos are great - tis one thing that is unimpeachable about him. they are DOCUMENTED!! danko and manuEl loved each other dearly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36am Brian in UK:

The Band, Live at the Academy of Music has it over Last Waltz any day, because it is, mostly just them. I had this odd feeling that they were a support band at their own memorial.
  7:37am clarke:

truth brian!! also, robbie produced Diamonds Beautiful Noise album - so that's why he was there
  7:40am clarke:

also brian - there is great evidence to show that The Band didn't get truly represented live - as their other live collection was in collab with allen toussaint and a horn section.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am dale:

morning. liked that last tune and the woman's voice.
  7:41am clarke:

i guess some of the truth is that they were not getting along very well for several years and needed a "billy preston" to chill things out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am Brian in UK:

Yes, I appreciate the contractual obligation touch. Saw them at the Royal Albert Hall, loved the way the drummer went to the mandolin, pianist to drums etc. And it all held together by Garth Hudson.
  7:43am clarke:

there are a few "new" shows by The Band posted on the youtube, and it is just them - like one playing in a casino ballroom - totally great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am Brian in UK:

As you say, a collaboration but is all part of the whole. Garth Hudson playing Chest Fever as the New Year arrives. Magical.
  7:45am Meesalikeu:

you know what would go well here? wayfaring stranger by dean wareham.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45am Jeffrey Davison:

Brian in UK: welcome, and thanks to you (and clarke) for all the info on The Band.
dale: good morning.
  7:45am clarke:

yes, brian - great moment captured - supposedly what happened with that is that they were told midnight was approaching in error - and garth had to fill some time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am Jeffrey Davison:

Meesalikeu: welcome...and I don't know that version. Will check...thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48am Kevin-san:

I too am tardy today, been enjoying the show since just after 7. Retreated in damp disarray from attempted bird watching, too foggy to see anything
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51am Jeffrey Davison:

Jeffrey, I thank you for being a voice of reason, logic, and science(!) about the pandemic.
The people crying hoax, and the anti-mask-I’d-rather-die-than-lose-my-freedom-protesters, can go get bent.
My father was exposed to the virus while already isolated in a NJ memory care home. He died April 22. Alone in a hospital room, unless the nurse my family and I begged to hold his hand really honored our wish.
Seriously, stay safe as you are able, and be well, all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18am Stanley:

Hi Jeffrey Listening and enjoying, in between the roar of the Hoover.
  8:18am kevlicki:

Tdk60- I like the characterization of segments of the “re-open”-ers as being folks that demand to be served. White dude with guns stormed the Michigan congress, not so they could work, it’s so they can be served and get haircuts. If they wanted to work, they’d get a job in a meat packing facility
  8:19am clarke:

jeez lisa so sorry for your loss!!
  8:19am kevlicki:

Really Lisa - My condolences
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am Jeffrey Davison:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21am Brian in UK:

We are following the USs lead in performing poorly. Wish my stomach would flatten. Only just started making new arrivals go into quarantine for two weeks.

Stanley, what-ho, awaiting number two.

Really Lisa everyone needs time to grieve, you are among friends here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning Stanley and kevlicki...
Like I said a couple of weeks ago: if you are hell-bent on reopening (and we all want to get back to normal, believe me), hop in the car and go pick lettuce...

Thank you all for the condolences. I didn’t want to make this a platform. Just very much appreciated what Jeffrey said in mic break. <3 This has been hard to cope with. So when I see, hear people being skeptics or morons, I rant.

Kev, are you all returning the the farmer market tomorrow?
Avatar 8:42am StringOFperils:

We've been successfully growing lettuce in pots, inside the house, in a window, for the last 6 weeks. It's pretty handy, and I don't have to wonder about industrial pesticides and herbicides when consuming it.

Tdk60 yup! Last Sunday was our first market back. The Greenmarket staff is doing all they can to create guidelines, it’s an improvement from when all this started. We’re adapting our whole setup to minimize contact and keep physical distance
Avatar 8:44am TDK60:

Kev, Maybe I'll stop by. I've only been downtown once in 3 months.

So much good music out there that you just don't hear on "ordinary" radio. Thanks for the hard work you and Ruth have put in today.
