Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Aitch:

Good morning DJ GG and all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hello! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Aitch!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:01pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

When I realised that this is where the sample came from, it blew my mind :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

How's your day going, Aitch? :-)
Avatar 5:03pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

Hello! Having gone through a proper MadMen psychosis/marathon recently, a rather welcome surprise, this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hello Photocopy Cha Cha! :-)
Avatar 5:04pm StringOFperils:

Hi GG et al.
Avatar 5:04pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@5:01 DJ GeorgyGirl: I had no knowledge about the origin of the sample before the clock struck midnight, i.e. 5 minutes ago.
Avatar 5:04pm StringOFperils:

I've never seen Mad Men.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - wild, isn't it? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

StringOFperils! Hello! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - it's well worth a watch :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm notsoKWYET:

Hi GG... hello everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@notsoKWYET - hello, lovely!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The writing of Mad Men is superb, the acting is wonderful. I don't really have enough superlatives ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Also, who doesn't love a show set in the 60s ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

What's everyone been binge-watching lately?
Avatar 5:11pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

"Dear" signal interruptions, please leave this show alone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Again??? I thought they'd fixed that? I know Don-O was having some problems on Friday ... :-(
Avatar 5:12pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@5:10 DJ GeorgyGirl: Hollywood, The End OF The F***ing World, Unorthodox, Afterlife (season 1 only, halfway there)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Let me know if there are any more or if gets severe and I'll let the engineers know
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - what did you think of Hollywood?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Also I LOVED Unorthodox :-)
Avatar 5:13pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@5:11 DJ GeorgyGirl: I think it is the internet connection, because the longer one of the two interruptions went to sheena auto-stream and back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

We've been having some technical problems on the station recently - I think so many people being housebound has put pressure on the system. Fingers crossed it calms down a bit!
Avatar 5:15pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@5:13 DJ GeorgyGirl: I know Hollywood employs a very alternative version of events, but it could have been better; it is saved by the superb acting by everyone involved.
Avatar 5:15pm Mr Fab:

i started watching Man Men as soon as I read about it - from the first episode on. A show set in the New York ad world in the '60s? Heck yeah! My dad actually WAS one of those mad men.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - I mean, there is literally no way any of it could have happened, which made it even more poignant. But the acting was incredible, like you say :-)
Avatar 5:16pm StringOFperils:

I stopped watching TV entirely at the onset of the lockdown, when I found myself immersed in all of the WFMU streams. And it has been rewarding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - I didn't know that!! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - there have been so many amazing live streams as well. All great stuff :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm notsoKWYET:

GG - I actually don't watch tv but my friend just released a show so I ended up watching it.. It is called Avocado Toast The Series and it is wonderfully complex, queer, female focused and is a multi-generational show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Also ... hi Mr Fab! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@notsoKWYET - ooo!!! I need to see that! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm notsoKWYET:

you really do
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ugh. It broke again, didn't it? ARGGHHH!!
Avatar 5:19pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

The End Of The F***ing World I recommend to anyone, it does have its share of gore though, if not much. I think we did chat about this the other day GG. Good music choices from the popular to more obscure and lovely laconic dialogue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - yep! You did recommend that to me and it sounds perfect for me :-)
Avatar 5:21pm StringOFperils:

I watched too much TV a year ago; I was deathly ill for a year and a half, and sort of locked in then...and binge watching TV helped...couldn't do much else ** I'm okay now.
Avatar 5:21pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@5:19 DJ GeorgyGirl: yes, very unlucky as I was gonna congratulate you for the recent 100% interruption-free episodes of Flange and Frigate show.
Avatar 5:22pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@5:20 DJ GeorgyGirl: I never thought England's southern coast could seem so bleak as in that show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Last week was perfect! No stream breaks, nothing. I actually breathed. lol
Avatar 5:22pm StringOFperils:

The Deuce was interesting....70s Time Square porn industry, and the evolution thereof
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - I had my eye on that one. I shall have to do a proper search for it :-)
Avatar 5:24pm StringOFperils:

I studied advertising design and illustration with several original Mad Men...weird culture....strayed from it after several years
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - I do talk about real-world ad men a bit later on in the show, but the general concensus seemed to be that Mad men was the watered down version! lol
Avatar 5:26pm StringOFperils:

The Chi is also good. The lives of black Americans in contemporary Chicago. A bit of mystery, a bit of everyday trials and tribulations. Family. Gangs. The lives of kids. It's well done.
Avatar 5:26pm StringOFperils:

Yeh, advertising eats people alive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - another one to add to my list then! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm notsoKWYET:

what a sexy voice
who is that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@notsoKWYET - smooth as silk! I've heard he's an excellent DJ as well ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm notsoKWYET:

uh oh
Avatar 5:29pm StringOFperils:

The first two seasons of True Detective are also good. Each of the seasons is one long story. Creepy. Disturbing. And only the States could produce that particular brand of grim violence.
Avatar 5:30pm StringOFperils:

There's also Ray Donovan.
Avatar 5:30pm StringOFperils:

I go for the darkness, :)
Avatar 5:31pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

this is the Beach Boys song that is hard to listen to if you think about what followed (namely Brian Wilson's breakdown). Even when I did not know much about it, the otherworldly sounds almost scared me (in a good way).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - nowt wrong with a bit of a shiver! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:31pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - pretty weird and dark scene in the show as well
Avatar 5:32pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@5:31 DJ GeorgyGirl:

crap, I don't remember the said scene.
Avatar 5:32pm Mr Fab:

Mad Men was a bit watered down, in that my father and his colleagues could have a real cynical attitude towards the public. They saw how easy it was to manipulate them. They used these dismissive terms for the general public: "the gum chewers," "Joe 6-Pack" etc..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - I don't know why but "Joe 6-Pack" tickled me! :-)
Avatar 5:34pm StringOFperils:

It's all about the rubes. It's all manipulation, even among themselves, the agency-types.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ok - clean file sent off for the archives. Still frustrating tho :-(
Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Tim in TN:

Just in time for this beautiful piece!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Tim!! Hi there! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's also the 42nd anniversary of Hitchhiker :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm notsoKWYET:

love this record
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@notsoKWYET - it's so sultry :-)
Avatar 5:41pm StringOFperils:

I can't tell you about those sets and costumes in particular, but I live with an on-set hair and makeup pro, and we have a friend who is a head set carpenter. I can tell you that SO MUCH cash is expended, even in some commercial spots (let alone huge long-format dramas like Mad Men) that it's likely that none of what you saw was old or funky. It was probably produced, detail by detail, anew.
Avatar 5:41pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

Autumn Leaves (Miles Davis version) was very essential (as well as Mr. Davis' Bitches Brew) to the soundtrack of an 80s finnish dark comedy/murder mystery miniseries Musta Tuntuu. I can't recommend that - not because it wasn't excellent television, but because it'll probably be never seen anywhere again, as MTV (finnish commercial tv that is) won't pay for the use of the lovely Miles Davis & John Coltrane tracks. It is a disgrace as it is a masterpiece, written&directed by the mighty Neil Hardwick (Finland loves its British expats, what with Wigwam's Jim Pembroke and all). I saw it in a private screening 3 years ago (don't remember much from its original broadcast '85/'88) I luckily heard about.
Avatar 5:42pm StringOFperils:

And then they throw it all in the trash (sets at least)
Avatar 5:42pm StringOFperils:

The stylists make off with the clothes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - the work behind the scenes always astonishes me. I used to do hair and wigs and it was like the most magical of operations :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - to be fair, you had me at John Coltrane :-)
Avatar 5:43pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

as a kid I thought there is something wrong with me as I got goosebumps from the music I loved. The Zombies is visibly doing it to me now.
Avatar 5:43pm StringOFperils:

The costume stylists and their assistants often buy stuff on spec so to speak. They keep the rcpts, and return stuff after they've used it, often. For commercials.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The Zombies track is just so beautiful :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - I built a Hedwig wig and had so much blonde hair superglue to my hands that they called me "Werewolf Barbie" for the duration of the run ;-)
Avatar 5:44pm StringOFperils:

I love this song. Bleeker Street.
Avatar 5:45pm StringOFperils:

Ha ha ha ha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'm blissing out on this S & G track :-)
Avatar 5:45pm StringOFperils:

Helene, with whom I live, makes wigs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - give her a hug from me, because I know how much work goes into that! :-)
Avatar 5:47pm StringOFperils:

I will GG ! And you're right...the labour is insane...and largely unknown to the producers I think. I continue to write her comminications, so as to delicately get that across, while she's budget-wrangling
  5:47pm 32ozgrowler:

Bleecker..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - yeah ... most producers seem to think that hair, makeup, wardrobe etc can just pull stuff out of thin air ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Aitch:

This all weirdly evocative of being a little kid, the background music of growing up in the 60s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Aitch - there's a certain comfortable, warm familiarity, isn't there? :-)
  5:50pm CC:

Hi GG and all... I'm late again always loved this melody!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi CC! :-)
Avatar 5:50pm StringOFperils:

Check out this wig (prop really) she designed and made for this sketch comedy show she's keyed for 5 seasons.

www.youtube.com...
Avatar 5:51pm StringOFperils:

She and two assistants do all the hair.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Video Unavailable :-(
Avatar 5:51pm StringOFperils:

oh no. right.
Avatar 5:52pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

Having been teatotalling for the last two months and smoke-free for nearly 17 years, I can't help but think how excessive the smoking and drinking is throughout the series.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - a lot of the actors saiD that they started smoking again... :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Any and all versions of Moon River make me cry. I love this song.
Avatar 5:54pm StringOFperils:

The Audrey Hepburn version in Breakfast At Tiffany's makes me weepy.
Avatar 5:54pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@5:52 DJ GeorgyGirl: I thought they were using herbal cigarettes as props? Well the habit is hard to kick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - oh yes, definitely prop cigarettes! But they said the action kicked their old habits back in ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I smoke in my dreams. And then I wake up REALLY angry with myself, until I remember that it was only a dream :-)
Avatar 5:57pm StringOFperils:

I don't know how all of this sequenced in the series, but your mix today is great in this order. Nice!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - thank you!! :-) It was chronological in the series but I thought I'd mix it up a bit today :-)
Avatar 5:58pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

This always reminds me of the Ready Steady Go episode where the Honski Boiski Stoneski were miming to this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - you'll get Otis changing his name again ;-)
Avatar 6:01pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@5:59 DJ GeorgyGirl: maybe his computer/smartphone will alert him everytime someone writes those words
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:02pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - LOL!!!
Avatar 6:03pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

this ignoramus had not heard this Roy Orbison track before seeing this series. Stupid me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Neither had I!! :-)
  6:04pm CC:

I was never much of the TV watcher myself but some of these songs are pretty nice!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@CC - it's genuinely a great soundtrack, and this is only a small portion of it. The earlier seasons are more on the lounge side and it gets progressively folkier and more 60s pop as it goes on and heads towards 1970 :-)
6:06pm dan the man with ann in a van and a can:

The Orb got their name from Roy Orbison
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Did they really?
6:07pm dan the man with ann in a van and a can:

doubtful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I always assumed it was a movie reference. Did not know that
6:07pm dan the man with ann in a van and a can:

Orb cors not!
  6:08pm CC:

I see... I've never even heard of the show but do you know who did the music programming in it???
6:08pm dan the man with ann in a van and a can:

i just made it up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I'd always heard that it was a reference to the orb in "Sleeper"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@CC - that I don't know, but they did a brilliant job :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Aitch:

Orb from Woody Allen's Sleeper more likely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Shit. I have completely lost the stream :-(
  6:09pm CC:

Yes!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Sorry ... just rebooted to see if that helps.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Apologies, everyone :-(
  6:11pm CC:

Judy doing a Joni song!!!
  6:11pm Elizabeth:

Hello Georgy and everyone! Now I am going to try to remember which episode each song was in! LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Elizabeth!!! :-) There's a VERY key song coming up later ;-)
  6:13pm Elizabeth:

One song that stands out is when Megan told Don I have a song that is going to blow your mind and she was holding up "Revolver" and I knew even before she played the song that it was going to be "Tomorrow Never Knows". And I was right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Elizabeth - that's the one that's coming up later ;-)
  6:15pm Elizabeth:

It fit in perfectly with the scene - that was when the show transitioned to the "cultural 60s"!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm notsoKWYET:

had to pop out for some cream for butter chicken... back now ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Elizabeth - I'd quite like the Drapers' stereo console as well ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@notsoKWYET - oo!! Music to cook by :-)
  6:17pm Elizabeth:

I love the whole interior of the Draper's house!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Elizabeth - I shudder to think how much it was worth!
Avatar 6:18pm StringOFperils:

No money in virginity. Hah!
6:18pm dan the man with ann in a van and a can:

was that clip from Eastenders?
  6:18pm Elizabeth:

What a great line!
Avatar 6:19pm StringOFperils:

Wish I had the entire Les Baxter catalogue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - he got pretty freaky later on as well :-) Moog records and all sorts :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

My daughter just said that Alexandra Patsavas was the music supervisor - she's done tons of stuff, too :-)
  6:21pm Elizabeth:

I wish there was a British version of "Mad Men" a British show that took place in the swinging 60s! That would be awesome!
  6:21pm Elizabeth:

Yes, Sal was the music director-
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Elizabeth - imagine one set in music production! :-)
  6:22pm Elizabeth:

That would be amazing!
  6:23pm Elizabeth:

There was a show a few years ago with Nick Frost- called "A Well Respected Man"- that was set in the 60s in the UK that I liked
Avatar 6:24pm StringOFperils:

There was a British series from a few years back, called The Hour, about a news program, in London I believe...late 50s. early 60s...absolutely lavish production values. Dominic West stars in it....only saw a bit...looked great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I saw trailers for both of those and liked what I saw :-)
  6:24pm Elizabeth:

yes, that was very good'- The Hour- Ben Whitshaw also starred in it
Avatar 6:25pm StringOFperils:

All of the Beeb's big co-productions blow my mind; they are outstanding.
  6:26pm Elizabeth:

I forgot about the similarities between Sharon Tate and Megan !
Avatar 6:26pm StringOFperils:

Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell. Amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The BBC do period productions REALLY well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

There was an excellent blog at the time - two guys whose names have completely escaped me - where they analysed all the costumes.
Tom & .... ugh. It'll come back to me! :-)
  6:30pm Elizabeth:

I love the BBC period productions and their music documentaries!
Avatar 6:32pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@6:24 StringOFperils: I saw both seasons of The Hour, a pity it was cancelled so a third one never materialised. Ben Whishaw was great too in this. I just heard they used Hornsey Town Hall for the entirety of the sets of the season 1, and much of the series overall I believe. Makes me miss Crouch End (that's where it is at, I lived nearby for four years)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - Crouch End is a lovely part of London :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

A bit of exposition about this song coming up ;-)
Avatar 6:34pm StringOFperils:

I will look up Crouch End, and learn about it.
  6:35pm Elizabeth:

Perfect song for the scene it was in...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - it's near to Muswell Hill (so close to Kinks' territory) :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Elizabeth - such a mind-blowing piece of TV! :-)
Avatar 6:36pm StringOFperils:

Ahh...north London.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - and also in Shaun of the Dead :-)
  6:36pm Elizabeth:

It was ! Now I need to binge-watch the whole series again!
Avatar 6:36pm StringOFperils:

haven't seen that yet either....just clips from it.
Avatar 6:37pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

Hornsey Town Hall has also been used for many an exterior set, both period drama and contemporary.
Avatar 6:38pm StringOFperils:

The latest production of Les Miserables by the BBC, again starring Dominic West, as Jean Valjean, also looks amazing. Only saw the first two hours so far. I should probably seek that out
Avatar 6:40pm StringOFperils:

As a half-cooked art historian and architecture-freak, I really wish I could live in London and Paris for periods of time...alas, that is unlikely....so many things to see
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

London has so many beautiful old buildings. And the tops of the buildings have all these quirky bits of architecture as well. Just such lovely things to look at.
  6:41pm Elizabeth:

That is crazy about The Beatles song and how much it cost and how it affected the shooting budget of Breaking Bad!
Avatar 6:41pm StringOFperils:

I don't know where Wolf Hall was shot, but some great period settings used in that too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Elizabeth - so many people at AMC were furious because all of their budgets were cut to pay for that 30 seconds, albeit TV history. But still.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - Buckinghamshire as well. Hammer Horror, lots of TV series. :-)
Avatar 6:44pm StringOFperils:

I grew up on Hammer horror....almost every Saturday afternoon when movies were still cheap for kids, in theatres. Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, and many buxom mesmerized maidens in flimsy negligees....ah sweet youth

Now that you told about the licensing, tv series and Beatles I am wondering if the Beatles lp played over a home hi-fi unit in Heimat was a soundalike... familiar with Heimat anyone? German speakers know it of course, UK folks might know it as it made the 10th place in Channel 4's 50 Greatest TV Dramas vote.
(OK, Heimat is more a series of films in 32 episodes than tv series)

@StringOFperils - I did some horror work :-) HUGE amount of fun :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:46pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - I do remember Heimat! That was HUGE :-)
  6:46pm Elizabeth:

I really like this version of "Always Something There to Remind Me"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I was in West Germany when that first came out in fact :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Elizabeth - I do too! :-) I'd never heard it before Mad Men :-)
Avatar 6:47pm StringOFperils:

I have seen all of Heimat 1 and Heimat 2, twice. AND I saw the premiere of the third part, in a theatre here at the Toronto International Film Festival, about 4 (?) years ago, with Edgar Reitz present to field questions....he was a bit chilly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Heimat was stunning
Avatar 6:48pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@6:47 DJ GeorgyGirl: I have watched many times - at least compared to its overall length, wait I have not seen one of its films which is a clipshow of sorts. But hey it is 59 and half hours long....
Avatar 6:48pm StringOFperils:

No kidding!!!
Avatar 6:49pm spacebrother:

Finally ready for my show. Live shows let me wait until the last minute!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Greg! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

And here is the drum sample for the theme :-)
Avatar 6:50pm spacebrother:

Hey GG!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Greg is after me :-)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I've got one more track left - can anyone guess what it is? ;-)
Avatar 6:51pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@6:47 StringOFperils: I am not sure if I have seen 1 & 2 three times? hmmm. The third part is not as good, but it was severely cut down, so there is less depth to its characters and story. The "prequel" (Home from Home, 2013) was really good, surprisingly so. Wow, you got to see Herr Reitz in person.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you all so much for listening today - we had some hiccups but we got through it together :-)
Avatar 6:51pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@6:50 DJ GeorgyGirl: something to do with a certain beverage?
Avatar 6:52pm StringOFperils:

Well, this has been much more fun than working on the exterior door I'm painting....laid out in the kitchen...like a patient, etherized upon the table, and all that etcetera...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - very good ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@StringOFperils - quite literally, this show has been better than watching paint dry ;-)
Avatar 6:52pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@6:52 DJ GeorgyGirl: is it the original commercial in the final episode? I never got to see it before.
Avatar 6:53pm StringOFperils:

Ah yes, Home From Home is what I'm referring to as part 3...a lot has happened to me since then...I forgot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - yep, it's the original :-)
  6:53pm Elizabeth:

Great show, Georgy! I miss Mad Men! I wish there was another series where it continued into the 70s!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Elizabeth - I would love that!!
Avatar 6:54pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@6:53 StringOFperils: yep, part 3 of heimat is 1989 (berlin wall falls) to 1999 (new millenium of course) and like I said , not as good as the rest.
  6:54pm Elizabeth:

If only I had talent and money! LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Huge hugs to ALL of you :-) <3
Avatar 6:54pm spacebrother:

I LOVE your Klaus Nomi doll.
Avatar 6:55pm StringOFperils:

Yes Photocopy, Herr Reitz. I think he was jet-lagged, culturally displaced, and a bit non-plussed about the general glitz of the Festival. He seemed the epitome of the German.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Greg - one of my pet projects, that was :-) Took me ages to source the two dolls that were perfect for him :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm notsoKWYET:

fab show
  6:56pm CC:

Cheerz!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm notsoKWYET:

loved the story about the beatles track
Avatar 6:56pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

@6:55 StringOFperils: that is what I like! Though I'd be scared to meet him.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Thank you :-) <3
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Rich in Washington:

This has been fantastic, GG! I definitely need to revisit Mad Men again!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Rich!! :-)
Avatar 6:57pm StringOFperils:

Thank you once again...may re-listen to this later...a bit distracted/between tasks today
Avatar 6:57pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

Is the Klaus Nomi a singing doll? Der Nussbaum would be nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is the perfect ending to any TV show EVER for me :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Photocopy - he's two Funko Pops that I modified and repainted :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Rich in Washington:

This has been a great soundtrack to me driving around town today. I forgot how amazing the music selections were on that show.
Avatar 6:58pm Photocopy Cha Cha:

But yeah, thanks GG for this lovely show, thanks everyone for chatting company, see youse later, stay safe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm DJ GeorgyGirl:
