Hallo David, and continental commuters, Just to late for the Pogues, but that is one of my most played albums ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm David Dichelle:

Good evening, Dutchtheo, I listened to that just about every day for a while myself, back when it came out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm redkayak:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:19pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, maestroso!
Avatar 3:21pm TDK60:

I recall '80s college radio really helped the Pogues back then.
Avatar 3:27pm TDK60:

C'mon you Roud scholars, let's get rowdy and carousing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm redkayak:

Fairport Convention - - alright!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm doctorjazz:

Fairport Every Week!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm dutchtheo:

Yes! Approved by the Sandy Fanclub
Avatar 3:32pm TDK60:

This is a gem. Little story. Early '90s was occasional guest DJ on a college station '60s/'70s music show. I played this at the end of the show. The host DJ was nervous as we were nearing the top of the hour. The track had about three more minutes of time. The DJ had never heard it and said, hell with it, this is incredible, we're going over, the news can wait!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm David Dichelle:

TDK: Great radio heroism on both your parts!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm doctorjazz:

My man Richard Thompson! Guitar superhero!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Carmichael:

Heya David and shut-ins. Thanks for the Pogues and Fairport. Just play my whole youth, would ya?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm David Dichelle:

Hey Will, always a likely bet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm David Dichelle:

And hello Dean and Carmichael - playing all our youths, past and present...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm David Dichelle:

Sem, I am really looking forward to hearing what Julie plays.
Avatar 4:14pm TDK60:

So there's a goth confab in Leipzig, usually?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm David Dichelle:

Yes, it is the world's biggest I believe: en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm David Dichelle:

Or one of the largest, anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm chris:

Hi, David and folks. Romanian prog? niiiice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:26pm David Dichelle:

Hey Chris - these are both from Croatia/Yugoslavia in fact.

Today's photo? Is it a chess table? Can the words be read?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm Bas NL:

Hi David and all! Wow, i'm late..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm David Dichelle:

Thanks for asking, TDK - it is a monument to where a Schloss (manor house/estate) once was, itself explaining in detail that it is a monument to where it once was.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm David Dichelle:

Good evening, Bas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm David Dichelle:

It was also the headquarters of the allied armies against Napoleon in the Battle of the Nations, hence the importance.
  4:34pm Mark R:

Lots of good stringed instruments between the Holy Mackerel and Pentangle
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Stanley:

Hi David. I'm even later than Bas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm David Dichelle:

Hey Mark and Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Bas NL:

Hi Stanley! And Nase im Butter... great track this Pentangling!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Stanley:

Nose in the butter?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm David Dichelle:

Yes this Pentangling is a live version from the Aberdeen Music Hall.
Avatar 4:41pm spodiodi:

pass the butter, please
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm chresti:

Get your nose out of the butter, Stanley.
Avatar 4:42pm spodiodi:

nose butter = cocaine, afaik
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Bas NL:

Yes.. Though i'm sure it's a dutch expression, 'met de neus in de boter'.. 'first time lucky'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Stanley:

chresti - I can't. Once you've tried it there's no going back.
Avatar 4:45pm spodiodi:

Stanley, which is why i've been too chicken-s*** to try it all these years :~(
Avatar 4:46pm Sem:

Your nose.
Your nose in butter.
Questions?
Avatar 4:46pm JakeGould:

Hello! Nicer vibe here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm David Dichelle:

In German you can say "alles in Butter" to mean "everything's okay".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm David Dichelle:

Hello Jake!
  4:47pm Mark R:

It's getting a little Dead-y now. Donna-era Dead, of course. Although poor Donna could never stay on pitch this well.
Avatar 4:48pm Brian in UK:

Hello David and safely distancing travellers.
Martin Simpson's Little Musgrave is the best.
Avatar 4:48pm Brian in UK:

Is Pentangle a verb?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm David Dichelle:

Mark, yes it is quite the jam session.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm Stanley:

Mark R: It does go on for three hours
  4:49pm Mark R:

Well, David will just have to go a little over today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm David Dichelle:

And good evening Brian, the Martin Simpson track was in fact dedicated to you and your prescient request several weeks ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Bas NL:

Well, judging today's menu, everything is 'alles in Butter'!
Avatar 4:51pm βrian:

Pendangle would most definitely be a verb.
Avatar 4:53pm Brian in UK:

David, so sorry to miss it. Garden watering and dinner intervened.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, Bas, happy to serve with and without butter!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm doctorjazz:

This Dennis Gonzalez track is great. Has a bit of the feel of Trane's Alabama.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm David Dichelle:

Brian, I take it the flooding has long subsided?
Avatar 4:57pm Brian in UK:

Guinevere drew pentangles like yours m'lady like yours.

You canna beat a bit of butter. It has flavour. That thing that the multinationals are trying to rid us of.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm David Dichelle:

And without a doubt, βrian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm David Dichelle:

It is indeed, Doc, thanks!
Avatar 5:00pm Brian in UK:

David, it seems like only yesterday but was mid February. Since then no rain and the ground has a veneer of cement or so it feels like. We are in extremis all ways round.
We do need some rain for the crops etc. Who would have said that in Jan/Feb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm David Dichelle:

Yes, time flew by again, Brian. Very dry here as well. We've had a day or two of some rain, but hardly enough.
Avatar 5:04pm JakeGould:

In NYC the weather is fine to temperate. Like that matters!
Avatar 5:05pm Brian in UK:

Well, that was relentless, like all good music.
Avatar 5:05pm northguineahills:

ahh, missed the Matty Groves song cycle, will hit it on the archives tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm David Dichelle:

Hey NGH, how are things?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm David Dichelle:

Brian, glad you like relentless.
Avatar 5:07pm northguineahills:

We've only had a trace of rain down here in the 25 days, so, rather dry (tropical storm arthur absorbed all of the moisture on its way up the coast).
Avatar 5:08pm northguineahills:

Looks like I'll get a concrete date when my job starts next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm David Dichelle:

Sounds great, NGH, congrats!
Avatar 5:09pm Brian in UK:

ngh, rock solid. Well done & good luck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Bas NL:

That's great @ngh!
Avatar 5:12pm northguineahills:

(well, the date of when it starts, they're still in chaos).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm David Dichelle:

Jake and all in the area, hope you can find a good way to enjoy the weather despite it all.
Avatar 5:12pm Creature Boy:

Do i need like a password or sumthin to get in here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm doctorjazz:

Wow, NGH, hope everything goes as planned, congrats!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm David Dichelle:

Creature Boy - that was the exact password phrase, welcome!
Avatar 5:14pm Creature Boy:

I see i missed Wildflowers by the HM their best cut
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Bas NL:

I just received word today we're allowed back to work somewhere next week.
Avatar 5:15pm βrian:

Wow! We're looking at mid-summer, as far as I can tell.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm David Dichelle:

Bas, have you been able to work from home?
Avatar 5:16pm JakeGould:

@BasNL: The question is… Do you want to go back? They told me at my job we are to work from home until mid August. I can do my work from anywhere, but still.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Bas NL:

I'm a support technician, so very difficult to do something. I'd spend my time learning new stuff; which is very satisfying and useful, i must say...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm Stanley:

Good Günter this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Bas NL:

And yes Jake! I want to go back and get my hands dirty.. technically speaking. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Carmichael:

Thanks for the Goth link, David. Now I know what a "rivethead" is.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm chresti:

I go back to work next week, at the tennis courts in Griffith Park.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Carmichael:

Restaurants are semi-opening here on the 21st, although everyone is still working at home. Except me, I'm the lone person in the office.
Avatar 5:25pm TDK60:

Be careful radio friends. I'm skeptical. Of course, it's different in different places.
Avatar 5:26pm JakeGould:

@Carmichael: Many places will just die off. Meaning while they are technically allowed to reopen, food places will need 50% capacity in NYC and also need to be cleaned alll the time. Many businesses can’t handle that increase in cost coupled with a decrease in business.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Carmichael:

Yep Jake, we'll see how it goes. But hey, there's always Applebee's ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Bas NL:

We have received a long list of do's and don'ts from our university. And we're send home if our presents is not required.
Avatar 5:31pm Brian in UK:

Oboe, Cello and Piano is a demanding threesome.
Avatar 5:32pm Joe McG:

@David: Enjoying the show! I read that Colin Harper book about Bert Jansch and from what I remember, Bert preferred that people pronounce the "J" in his name, so that's how I've been saying it ever since! Apparently his wife chips in here: www.pronouncenames.com...
Avatar 5:33pm coelacanth∅:

greetings David & Freeform Riders
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Phillippe Bastille:

Hey coel
Avatar 5:34pm JakeGould:

I honestly learned to enjoy pricey (but very good) salads each weekend at this one very nice local cafe I like. I go there to write and draw as well as eat; I work in tech all week so it’s a creative respite.

I’m pretty sure they will survive, but man… If nice small places close and it’s all chains, I’m gonna lose it.
Avatar 5:34pm coelacanth∅:

Phillippe!
Avatar 5:37pm JakeGould:

@JoeMcG: Hello! How you do?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm David Dichelle:

Thanks, Joe - I will definitely go with that!
Avatar 5:37pm Brian in UK:

@JakeGould, if the 'little guy' is supported there might be hope. Capitalism confuses me there is enough to go round so why be greedy. Yes, I know a dumb and foolish comment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm David Dichelle:

Welcome back, Coel!
Avatar 5:38pm JakeGould:

@BrianinUK: In the U.S. the “little guy” who was supported are businesses that have 500 or less employees. Real small businesses didn’t get squat.
Avatar 5:41pm Brian in UK:

The proverbial Mum & Dad restaurants musty be supported. As Schumacher said 'Small is Beautiful'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Carmichael:

2 of my favorite local boozers are shoestring operations. I hope they come back, or I'll have to find another comfortable spot where I can tell people to piss off.
Avatar 5:44pm JakeGould:

@Carmichael: My sad bet is some places will make it through a socially distanced summer but shutter come fall in the U.S. The lure of possibly getting $$$ from the summer season in many places is too strong.
Avatar 5:45pm Brian in UK:

David, I have a soft spot for Leoš Janáček (soft J!). His Quartets are so evocative of the early Twentieth Century to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm David Dichelle:

Yes, Janáček is great. I played a few of his pieces a while back.
Avatar 5:52pm Sem:

Thank you for the show, David, engaged from the first moment. See you and all next time.
