Ridgewood Radio features concert recordings by adventurous bands and experimental musicians and restored archival tapes from private and institutional collections captured at venues large and small across the five boroughs of New York. It is produced by David Weinstein and Outpost Artists Resources operating out of the Ridgewood section of Queens, NY, where you'll find more yellow bricks than on the road to Oz and the cemetery of your choice is never more than a few blocks from home.

Favorite quote of the week, from Yogi Berra: If folks don’t want to go to the ballpark, how can you stop them?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm listener james from westwood:

Afternoon, David, Ruth, all!
Avatar 3:01pm david w:

Hello, james! And everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm chresti:

Hi David and Ruth, Ridgewoodians!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Webhamster Henry:

Hello Dog Breathers!
Avatar 3:02pm david w:

chresti, cool. And WebHen, exhale!
  3:02pm Dean:

Jon Wahl?! The Claw Hammer guitarist/singer Jon Wahl?! Looks like him. They were among the very finest live acts, no question.
Avatar 3:03pm WR:

David, though more poppy that your usual fare, I was so happy that Dog Breath wasn't just a few bars between Mary's show and Ridgewood Radio. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm chresti:

He's not only playing in the bathtub while smoking, he's also wearing a watch.
Avatar 3:03pm david w:

WR, that is somehow how I think too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Webhamster Henry:

The Mothers are the new Mouse Boys.
Avatar 3:05pm Mary Wing:

<3 David!

Avatar 3:06pm Franco Twinkie:

Hi David! I saw Ruben And The Jets at the El Monte Legion Stadium. Wild Man Fisher opened the show. He played Merry-Go-Round on a tennis racket.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:06pm Bas NL:

Hi David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm doctorjazz:

Hi David,Ruth, Ridgewood folks out there.
Avatar 3:08pm david w:

@Dean, yes that is Wahl and I should have played his music today.
  3:09pm JakeGould:

Hey David! I think you isolating yourself in Williamsburg makes sense. There are lots of dinks out there and the second places “re-open” even at 50% capacity I think the streets will be filled with jerks sitting on stoops and just being selfish and indignant… I mean imagine the brunch a-holes but now with no place to really sit?
Avatar 3:09pm david w:

@Henry, Mouse>Mothers, might just...
Avatar 3:10pm david w:

@Mary, back at you!!!
Avatar 3:11pm david w:

@BasNL, that just soaked in.
Avatar 3:12pm gailvachon:

Good afternoon friends
Avatar 3:13pm david w:

djazz and jake, greetings... and yes, I see boneheads running around here, but 95% cool.
Avatar 3:13pm david w:

gail! delighted.
Avatar 3:21pm david w:

@FrankoT: whoa this sound like a transuniversal incident. Really?
  3:23pm JakeGould:

What spicy noodle place? I miss Lucy’s Vietnamese place; they are doing delivery I assume but I am way out of their range.
  3:23pm Dean:

I know he played with...was it Jon Spencer? But I'm not at all familiar with any of his work outside of Claw Hammer, whom I adore.

Awaiting arrival of an 8-disc Braxton/Chadbourne set!
  3:25pm ruth:

Hey guys! I'm a little late today haggling online with staples.UGH! Nice to see you all here!
Avatar 3:25pm david w:

Jake, in Williamsburg, Xi'An Town.

  3:28pm JakeGould:

Some of the hole-in-the-wall places near me in Bay Ridge have started to open up again; laundries and take out places. But they all are very nervous; less customers overall. But hey… Noodles!
  3:28pm ruth:

Hey there Gail! The office phone is starting to get spam calls again is that a sign that the nightmare is almost over- They actually stopped for a few weeks... Was hoping they all died.
  3:30pm JakeGould:

@ruth: Just for my knowledge… Are you WFMU’s RuthBooth Ruth?
Avatar 3:31pm david w:

@Dean, ohhhhh wow. Had no idea...
  3:31pm ruth:

No, sadly I am not. She seems amazing but we've never met IRL!
Avatar 3:31pm Franco Twinkie:

Really David. When we were teenagers we would play Uncle Meat constantly. My mom, Virginia would walk around the house whistling Cruising For Burgers. She was a real good!
  3:34pm Dean:

Buddy of mine bought the 11CD vocal GTM set from last year, retained the digital download and handed the product to me. It's spectacular. Same buddy just saw Chadbourne here in town not long before everything shut down.
  3:37pm ruth:

We have a bird activator track! With Shellewy could hear her voice with a chorus of Parrot!
Avatar 3:37pm david w:

Franco, I saw Zappa a few times, mostly during the Flo and Eddie period.
  3:38pm ruth:

Whoops I can't type !!!
Avatar 3:40pm david w:

Dean, I'll have to track that down. Very curious about Chadbourne's head these days.
  3:41pm Dean:

I have his Zappa tribute record around here on loan from same buddy. He covers a few tracks from Ruben & the Jets!
Avatar 3:48pm Franco Twinkie:

David, I love Mark and Howard. I know they were not exactly high minded, but...
Avatar 3:51pm david w:

Speaking of crazy sweet...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm Stanley:

I'm just in time for...........this.
Avatar 3:57pm david w:

Stanley, it won't get any clearer.
Avatar 4:04pm WR:

This is great, an artist putting themself fully on the line to their audience.
Avatar 4:07pm david w:

Shelley is always absorbing everything when performing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Stanley:

I like Gavin Bryars.
Avatar 4:08pm gailvachon:

I like Gavin Bryars too.
Avatar 4:10pm david w:

Does he really think we'll get the trick, or just wander through....?
Avatar 4:11pm gailvachon:

Haha, It's just the sound of his voice. What is it about a Spanish accent?
Avatar 4:12pm david w:

And more radio today...

Avatar 4:15pm gailvachon:

Unlike the Gavin Bryars, in this one the meaning of the words overwhelms the musicalness.
Avatar 4:22pm david w:

Yeah, its hard to ignore him, unlike Juan, who is kind of ambient. But Lucas is more present, oddly.
  4:29pm ruth:

I''m actually loving the non talk parts too on this one. Also I agree that eating is good for procrastination
  4:34pm ruth:

OMG now we're in the way back machine for real.
  4:37pm ruth:

Funny how time can change the meaning of things...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm Doug Schulkind:

So so so great, David. All of it. So great!
  4:39pm ruth:

Hey Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Bas NL:

I have seen Jaap Blonk on stage once. What a personality.
Avatar 4:40pm david w:

Avatar 4:41pm david w:

Jaap! Bas!
Avatar 4:48pm david w:

Jaap Blonk is one of dozens (hundreds?) of musicians I know who got USA concerts (and travel) cancelled in the last months.
  4:50pm Dean:

Too, too many. And there's now speculation that Andy Gill, the guitarist of Gang of Four who died in February, was taken by COVID-19.
  4:51pm ruth:

I'm sure hundreds David! Didn't know that Dean
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Bas NL:

The cultural distancing is horrible.
Avatar 4:53pm david w:

Everybody take care, I want you back here safe and sound.
Avatar 4:53pm WR:

Who has cards these days? I used to play variations on solitaire on some evenings to wind down from the day. Now I check email and delete spam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Bas NL:

Thanks for the excellent selection David!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Stanley:

WR - can't say that is an improved way to wind down. But then I do the same. Got myself a book recently. We'll see how I get on with that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm chresti:

Thanks David!
  4:57pm ruth:

Thanks again David. Until next week Ridgewoodians, Take care!
Avatar 4:57pm WR:

Not an improvement. Just noting change for me.
Avatar 4:58pm david w:

I so glad how you all make me laugh. Thank you and find the safe spot!
Avatar 4:58pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oh, the unknown. wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Stanley:

Haha Cruising with Ruben and yay for Ray Collins.
Another enjoyable show, David. And you take care, too. We need you. Bye all, until tomorrow.
Avatar 4:59pm david w:

Kenzo! Oh!
Avatar 4:59pm WR:

Thank you David. Last week and this week off from work so greatly enjoyed giving this show my full focus.
Avatar 5:00pm david w:

Thanks, WR glad to have you along.
