Good afternoon Irene, hello one and all. Gorgeous weather here in Claverham, sat in the garden with the laptop along with cold beer and a tasty BBQ which will be cooking whilst this awesome show cooks on all gas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Irene Trudel:

Hi Sean and everybody! Glad you're enjoying such a nice day. I hope to fill it with music you like.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Irene Trudel:

We have somewhat grey skies here in NYC, which matches my mood. Hope to uplift us a bit by the end of the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:06pm WR:

Hi folks, Mondays are usually too busy with work for me to listen to WFMU but today is a staycation day and i'm just having breakfast and listening to WFMU. Total self indulging on a Monday.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Phillippe Bastille:

@GST overcast and dreary here, waiting for the rain. BTW, just saw your email a bit ago and responded.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Irene Trudel:

HI Andrew! Granny, SF Bay area can always use the rain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm listener james from westwood:

Just watched David Lynch give a minute-long L.A. weather report to this Seabuckthorn and it was a great backing track.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm listener james from westwood:

"By golly, we've got rain" was David's nut lede.
Avatar 12:14pm Hubig Pie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24pm doctorjazz:

Hi all!
Avatar 12:25pm Sean in Bristol UK:

I love my avatar photo of my pup but I would love an animated avatar, Granny Spice Tuna and Andrew Waterloo, can you give me some pointers?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Irene Trudel:

Welcome Hubig Pie, gongoleer, Doug, melinda, and doctorjazz! Trying to sooth the ugly spirits today.
  12:28pm melinda:

@gongoleer yes
Avatar 12:29pm TDK60:

Thanks GST. I've been to your city a few times, but it's been a while.

Sean in Bristol UK: most of my animated gifs were grabbed from Station Manager Ken's programs. Check out archives of Ken's Last Ever Radio Extravaganza for a feast!
Avatar 12:36pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Is it true that the avenues and cross streets of Manhattan along with the freeways are a dream to drive at the moment?
  12:38pm elisa:

Stephan's niece here listening from Maryland
  12:38pm Dean:

GST: I think you meant to link to SMK's playlists, not Kenzo's: https://www.wfmu.org/playlists/KF
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Dean: it's difficult to keep all the Kens around here sorted out, thanks!
  12:40pm Rick Spruchcman:

Haven't heard soothing music like this since the late 60s and 70s. Music to meditate by, calming the soul, relaxing the body and soothing the mind. Thanks, Stephan, for the gonging.
Avatar 12:42pm TDK60:

Sean, streets are relatively emptier in NYC. During the regular work day, more crowded. I go out on walks every other day, at night. I often walk in the street.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm Phillippe Bastille:

@elisa fellow Marylander here. Where are you located?
Avatar 12:45pm TDK60:

Irene, your home must be the office of the North American fan club for Kitchen Cynics! A good thing, mind you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm Webhamster Henry:

Hi Irene! Good "work" soundtrack here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Irene Trudel:

Hi elisa, Dean and Rick! I started listening to radio back in the 1970's, when freeform radio ruled the radio stations I listened to. I keep that tradition with me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm Stanley:

Hi Irene and listeners.
I just tuned in on the internet and as I was turning up the volume, there was this gurgling sound and I thought yep, that's WFMU. I had to do a double take to realise simultaneously it was your show, so was surprised by the gurgling and damn, the bloody drains are blocked and upstairs bath water is backing up. Oh happy day!
Avatar 12:52pm TDK60:

Irene, I know a quite different sounding Hunting the Wren by Robin Williamson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Irene Trudel:

Sean, here's a couple of photos from early April taken out my UWS window during "Rush Hour." It's gotten a little busier lately but still rather quiet. The ride home from the Long Island Beach took just an hoiur, which is usually unheard of! flic.kr... flic.kr...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Henry and Stanley! Yes, the gurgling was all mine.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm WR:

Oh Stanley, hope it is reasonably resolved.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Stanley: i'm laughing because i've had moments where i truly couldn't tell if what i was hearing was WFMU or some other phenomenon!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Stanley:

Thanks WR. I know I have some time as the bath water is just gurgling and not yet over flowing into my bath. I've been here before.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Irene Trudel:

Oops! Didn't read your whole post, Stanley. Hope it isn't too bad for you to fix!
Avatar 12:58pm Sean in Bristol UK:

With a weather theme here on the commenters list I would love the irony that we might have a rather fine summer here in the UK with what is going on at the moment. We are pretty obsessed with weather here in this parts. I am sure most of our fine listeners have maybe headed east to the UK but if anyone is planning a trip next year and you want to strike up a conversation, start with the weather and in minutes you will lose the will to live!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Stanley:

That's abosolutely right Granny. I remember on one occasion something happened to the stream and it was maybe five minutes before I realised was a fault and not some industrial/drone noise piece being played.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Santos L. Halper:

Thought these lyrics sounded familiar...
  1:03pm Alan Cynics:

Just missed the plays...listening now though! Pefkin and I say thank you very much, Irene! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Alan! Happy to oblige! You gave me a lot of great suggestions last time Bandcamp waived their fees. And hello to you, santos!
Avatar 1:06pm gongoleer:

@Elisa: Welcome aboard. Thanks. xox
  1:10pm listening out there:

Hey all...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12pm Irene Trudel:

Hi l.o.t.!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13pm Phillippe Bastille:

Have you ever had the experience where you've been listening on the wrong stream and not really known it because the song you are hearing and the one on the playlist are both songs you never heard before?
Avatar 1:14pm TDK60:

Phillippe: Sometimes I post irrelevant posts on the wrong comment board. Hee!
Avatar 1:17pm gongoleer:

@Phillippe Bastille: Your opening line reminds me of Tom Poppa's hook phrase to the audience "Have you ever..." and he answers, "I have". Well, yes, I have too.
Avatar 1:17pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Gorgeous track, yes, Dave Miller
Avatar 1:19pm TDK60:

(ex: Hey wait, this sounds like Leslie Gore, not Horslips!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Santos L. Halper:

Hi Free, lovely as always. Estranged is a Guns'n'Roses cover, Marissa a nice contrast to Axl : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:26pm Santos L. Halper:

Hi *Irene*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Andrew Waterloo:

G'nR is ripe for good covers
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Santos. Not being a G'n'R fan I didn't know that. I also only have a download, so the info wasn't at my fingertips.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Phillippe Bastille:

Sounds like an early Nicole Atkins song, sung by someone else
  1:38pm Peter K.:

Nothing but beauty. One stunning piece of music after another after another. In other words, vintage Irene Trudel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Santos L. Halper:

There's an amazing girl group version of November Rain by Prom Queen, that someone (Therese?) played a couple years back. Brilliant
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm Irene Trudel:

Thank you Peter! Methinks you might be a little biased. ;)
  1:46pm Peter K.:

I am biased, but I speak the truth. P.S.: There's no segue like an Irene Trudel segue.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm doctorjazz:

Like the Punch Brothers. Haven't seen them, but went to see Chris Thile twice at Tote Town Hall/Live From Here, he's a great performer.
Avatar 1:48pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Oh my goodness, this track by Punch Brothers, thank you Irene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48pm Irene Trudel:

Punch Brothers are really amazing. They go so far beyond your average bluegrass ensemble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:49pm Michael 98145:

Glad you are back, Irene T
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks Michael! It's good to be back.
  1:57pm rw:

Checking in to reiterate what Michael 98145 just said. Sounding so good on a drizzly Monday morning here. Thank you Irene and hello everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:58pm Doug Schulkind:

Gotta run to a Zoom conference for work. Thanks for the lovely sounds, Irene!
Avatar 1:59pm Hubig Pie:

Avatar 2:04pm TDK60:

Hejira is a good choice.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm Irene Trudel:

Good idea, Andrew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm maestroso:

Oh man, love this. These are from my old vinyl collection.

Avatar 2:27pm βrian:

I just became a father via Zoom. Crazy times.
Avatar 2:29pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Congratulations Brian
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29pm Michael 98145:

Avatar 2:30pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Awesome set, Irene, thank you, thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Irene Trudel:

That's such wonderful news, ♥βrian! Congratulations!
Avatar 2:32pm βrian:

Thanks. My daughter participated in the hearing, as well. All were charmed.
Avatar 2:33pm gongoleer:

This piece is reminiscent and has similar elements of of Bikoff and me back in the day.
Avatar 2:34pm TDK60:

That's wonderful Brian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Summer and Michael and Sylvia:

Great show, Irene! Happy Monday!
  2:39pm Peter K.:

It is indeed "My Goals Beyond," no apostrophe, although some reissues do mistakenly use it. Pardon the name-dropping, but John McLaughlin told me that himself. (P.S.: Thanks for letting me help you program today's show!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Irene Trudel:

I always welcome your suggestions, Peter. So cool you heard it from McLaughlin himself. Hi Summer and Michael and Sylvia! Glad you're enjoying the tunes today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Irene Trudel:

Sweet βrian! You'll have to post pictures next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm Santos L. Halper:

@ Peter K: interesting. I played a track from that album recently and was looking back at the covers, and it seems vice-versa on the apostrophe. Makes sense either way to me. Interesting how the Ryko cover I was familiar with is so different from the original...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Michael 98145:

Appropriate Monday tracks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Irene Trudel:

So glad you all could join me today! Gonna sign off now, but I'll be back next Monday at noon with tunes to start your week off right.
Avatar 2:57pm gongoleer:

Irene, Thanks again for the uplifting sounds on an overcast VT. afternoon. Blessings and Peace with safety and good health to your global community. Hear you next week.
Avatar 2:57pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Love this album, Irene, and this is a corker of a track
Avatar 2:58pm TDK60:

Thanks Irene. Till next time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Michael 98145:

Thanks again, Irene
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Santos L. Halper:
