Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07pm mariano:

I'm sure this isn't some groundbreaking new thesis, but I've always seen something of a lineage running from Cab Calloway to Little Richard to Prince.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm WR:

Why am I compelled to write something even if it is disingenuous greetings? Does it matter to mark WR was here?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm ultradamno:

And Hendrix (starting out playing for Richard and whose posture Prince liberally aped)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm WR:

Mariano, you left off Michael Jackson and David Bowie and dozens more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm mariano:

Yes, of course, Hendrix! And I think it's important to mark you were here, WR.

Hey, gang. Thanks for coming by. Juggling a bit more tonight, so I might not be as active on the comments. But hang out and drop a line.

I love Slant 6. I saw them at The Continental circa 1993(?). Not a big crowd but they were great. A grrrl in front of me said "Wow! They're a band you want to JOIN!" I agreed.

@Aitch: I will accept it although I have no clue what you mean!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm ultradamno:

But Ozzy is OK.
  9:39pm CC:

I wonder if John Lennon would be wearing a mask right now???... what is Paul doing by the way??...
  9:39pm thesecoronalives:

this is, like, the third show on which I've heard "hopefully dave the spazz will do a little richard tribute." pressure's building for dave the spazz! heh heh..
  9:40pm JakeGould:

For those who care, Bryan Adams announced the cancellation of some Royal Albert Hall gig by going on a racist tangent; blaming “bat eaters” and patting himself on the back for being a vegan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm mariano:

Oh, that's right Jake, Bryan Adams did say some pretty heinous stuff about Chinese people, just saw the headline.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm Sweet Corn Lizzie:

Whoa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm mariano:

Racist vegan? He can tour with Morrissey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm ultradamno:

Lennon would wear a mask and would say something annoying like 'am i wearing a mask or is the mask wearing me'

PETA likes Bryan Adams now, so the whole episode's been a wash for him.
  9:42pm thesecoronalives:

john lennon really didn't leave the dakota for the last 5 years anyhow.. Paul might brandish one for a moment on camera, a la mayor quimby with the bat on whacking day : - D

Hot Nasties, was that the fictional Jagger jr. led band on Vinyl?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46pm Nate K.:

A few bumps in the road tonight, sorry, folks!
Avatar 9:47pm βrian:

The bumps are what make the ride interesting.
  9:48pm JakeGould:

As Ed Sullivan would say, “Stuck in the Middle with a Really Big Shoe!”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm ultradamno:

Nasty Bits was the band on Vinyl www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm Nate K.:

I did not care for that show. . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm Nate K.:

Pretty sure it's not the same band, though. Hahaha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm ultradamno:

Oh, it was dead awful
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm ultradamno:

Well, except for Juno, she's always fun.
  9:55pm JakeGould:

@UltraDamno: Nobody likes “Vinyl”

yeah, yeah, yeah...I know!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10pm ultradamno:

It's hard for a show to bounce back from a standing start of NY Dolls bringing down Mercer Arts with the power of rock.
  10:11pm P-90:

Yeah, let’s hear from Little Richard, good idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Nate K.:

@P-90, I have a few more tonight.
  10:14pm JakeGould:

I said it elsewhere, but for the past 8+ weeks (!!!) since lockdown, I have mainly been listening to noise, ambient and the poppier side of that stuff like Stereolab and Broadcast…

Then one day last week I had a truly strong compulsion to just listen to Little Richard. Then he passed away.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm ultradamno:

I have been getting a LOT of fake PayPal scam emails lately. Typically saying the account is frozen or restricted click here to fix...

Listening to LR is always a good thing, I've got Bear Family Rocks CD, excellent stuff.
  10:15pm JakeGould:

And R.I.P. Betty Wright.
  10:15pm CC:

and I'm pretty sure that Ringo can't do it no more!!!

I find several of those PayPal scam mails in my junk folder every day, ultradamno. Apple too. I get some really funny sex junk mails, obviously run through some translation bot. I started saving them in a separate folder, I think I might make some into haikus.

  10:27pm CC:

Them boyz are pretty popular dow here in Texas...among certain circles!!!
  10:28pm P-90:

Tasty Linkage.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm ultradamno:

Man. I never thought of boasting of having an accurate body. It's not unlike my usual 'adequate', but more definite.
  10:30pm JakeGould:

“All your base are belong to us.” Haha! That’s old.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm Nate K.:

“All your base are belong to us.” What is that? Someone uses that as an wifi name that I know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm ultradamno:

It's video game thing from...I don't know, 90s?
  10:34pm otto:

I never miss a show, Nate... you freeking rock!!!! Cheers, babes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm mariano:

"All your bases..." was an early meme. It's from some Japanese video game with inadvertently funny English subtitles.
  10:36pm JakeGould:

As per Wikipedia: ‘“All your base are belong to us” is a popular Internet meme based on a broken English (“Engrish”) phrase found in the opening cutscene of the European release of the 1992 Mega Drive/Genesis port of the 1989 arcade video game Zero Wing, which is subtitled and poorly translated.’

en.wikipedia.org...

I think I learned about that from a friend’s noise musician roommate who once just said to me as I sat down for breakfast:

“All your base is belong to us!”

And I said: “What?”

He then explained that to me as well as overexplained A/D decoders in CD players that are a part of his act.

en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm ultradamno:

Zero Wing was the game, evidently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm Nate K.:

@Otto, thanks. Still getting my footing with the live streaming.
  10:37pm JakeGould:

“Somebody set up us the bomb.” Is actually the bad line from that game I think is funny.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm TomDash:

Ha - I pulled same Wackers LP for tonight's show...like minds...
Avatar 10:48pm ToTetsu:

As for that all you base thing. Japanese is far more efficient in the number of characters needed to display some text. many old games had to reduce the english text a lot to fit on the screen. And then there is the lack of plural in J, so the missing S from 'all you bases are..'
