But do they have antibodies for cavities?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Handy Haversack:

Yeah -- I smoked for twenty-five years, drink, lived wrong, and still somehow have never had a cavity. Last time I asked a dentist about, he said, "Some people just have strong teeth." Heh.

@morphe': Kate just finished reading _Beale Street_ a few weeks back.

  11:45am clarke:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:46am Frank In Queens:

Handy, yes on the 1st floor of a 2 family house. To my right, both floors are occupied by smokers and also 2 doors down on my left, which somehow still manages to waft into my open windows.

Sometimes the smell of cigarettes make me nostalgic and craving. Sometimes it's annoying. But I know Kate doesn't like it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Frank In Queens:

  11:53am DG:

OMG, DO NOT send leafblowers to Queens! Here in the NE part of the borough (which may as well be the 'burbs, no subways, you have to take a bus to the 7 train) they are practically non-stop, 7 days a week. It's either the endless landscaping crews who stand there for an hour blowing leaves around (even if there aren't any) or the apparently-deaf homeowners who have their own blowers or lawnmowers, & start doing their own lawns at 8:30 on a weekend. It's like half the neighborhood is deaf...I don't know how people deal with the noise (& our development still has those guys come every week...for some reason during this time that's still an "essential service").
  11:54am DG:

HC: Yeah, I love Squeeze & I don't even have that album...but I didn't think the songs were as good (w/some exceptions). How do you think Cale ruined it?
  11:54am clarke:

my theory is that today's society is a Leaf-Blower Society: as long as _____ isn't in MY space!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Handy Haversack:

Thanks, TDK. Yeah -- I'm firm. Mainly because I can NEVER go through that again. Quitting was a nightmare.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am Hughie Considine:

This is one of the primo Paul Carrack moments, even if it's sort of "Tempted 2.0" - I guess if the song is that good it can absorb any number of permutations.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Listener Baby:

@Baby. Yes. The Palace. I was in the front.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Hughie Considine:

"How Long" is actually written from the perspective of mouse in the midst in of rocky relationship.

  12:18pm DG:

Yeah, the Difford & Tilbrook album was disappointing & pretty dull, although I thought "Hope Fell Down" was great & some soul/R&B singer could've had a hit w/it. "Man for All Seasons" is good too, but the rest of the album is this weird mix of experimental, disco, R&B...I don't know what they were trying to do. I saw them at the Ritz when it came out, don't remember it being that great (although yeah, I think they did do "Band of Gold"!).

Howard is excellent

This may be one of my top-10 interviews in years and years of listening to the show regularly including fascinating, funny and inspiring interviews.

90 days is about how long before you get sorta bored
  12:32pm kpx:

Chiming in late, now let's see. oh yeah!. I wonder if the kinks still abides. Oops!. I hope someone doesn't get too upset, for not!.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Frank In Queens:

Well, I mean, if you rely on Howard Stern to give you in depth musical knowledge and analysis, sure, you're going to be disappointed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Frank In Queens:

But we don't, do we? That's why we listen to WFMU.

Avatar 12:34pm Michael Shelley:

Howard is naturally curious... and asks some tough questions, and for some reason, people really open up to him.
  12:35pm clarke:

i could say the same about you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:35pm Frank In Queens:

Michael's interviews are typically and consistently excellent. I especially enjoy the conversational tone they take on. The questioning never seems rigid. It always seems to ebb and flow with where the subject goes with their answers.
  12:36pm clarke:

PHIL not paul - but it would be PAUL not phil if i was doin' it. but i got him doin' it.

I saw Ringo and his All-Starr band a few years ago and had to sit through versions of Toto songs. I left humming "Africa." Just didn't sit right.
Avatar 12:46pm Michael Shelley:

Since Ringo gave up changing the band every year, it's a bit lame.
  12:46pm clarke:

really want to read that Liz Phair book - keep forgetting
Avatar 12:46pm Joe B:

Greg Lake was also in that version of the Ringo band!
  12:47pm ledzeppelinsucks:

I talked to John Haggerty formerly of Naked Raygun and currently of Pegboy and he said something mean about Liz Phair.

@Clarke, I've seen that live XTC stuff and yes, they are a monster!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm radioronan:

When Groove Approved came out they had the record release party at a studio in SF (Hyde St? maybe) with Carrack doing tracks on piano. However the same night Virgin was hosting the debut of an up and coming rnr'er named Lenny Kravitz at DNA. In order to make sure everyone went to both, Capitol paid for everyone to be shuttled between the 2 performances. It was a great night. Great interview, Michael.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Hughie Considine:

Great stuff as always, @Michael.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Ciggy:

Love both Emitt Rhodes interviews (maybe Michael interviewed him more than two times?).
