The state of people going stir crazy in deep Brooklyn: Just threw out the trash and while outside I heard a thud of someone jumping out from between two cars.

I turned not panicked — because at this point being jumped might be a bless — and see one of my neighbors this really big and musclar middle eastern gay guy just dancing with himself. Like really rocking out. Doesn’t even notice me. Might be high? But at times get gets violent. Just casually walked past him and back inside.

And he wasn’t even wearing headphones or anything. Just that high… And doing that in the rain.

I've been watching the color schemes of the numbered and colored line-up Whole Foods system with interest. The colors of 70's Sesame Street seemed to be the basic pallette, which makes sense if you are trying to placate adults to follow directions and rules. But The 90's children's entertainment was all a lot heavier on magenta. I'm wondering if the colors used to get people to follow instruction will change as that generation becomes a dominant buying cohort.

I ask, because I am rearranging my apartment, and finally putting my comics on shelves instead of in milk crates, and no real method for shelving feels right. I've started putting trades in with the issues though, and that makes it easier to navigate.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52am

One day I had to run an errand to the DC building (which was AWESOME!) and for some reason picked up some ashcan edition of Promethea. I've no idea why. But whenever Promethea came out, it was right around/before that, I guess?

Orlin is gone now too, that was a tough one for me. The first time I visited NYC in '92 my friend who lived there took me there and it became a go-to from that moment on. At least it wasn't pushed out by rising rent though: apparently the owner owns the entire building, and he's just tired of running a restaurant.

Franco i never sucked the fashion nozzle (or the pretend anti-fashion nozzle) so i wasn't always treated like the cool kids; but yeah it depended what the person i was with looked like.

It's funny Coel, when I first went to New York and would walk the slummy streets of downtown, I saw myself fitting in. Long before rent hikes or death viruses, I came to my senses.

i never thought i'd fit in in nyc; nonetheless i did consider moving there once. i figured it'd be interesting for about a year then i'd leave but i didn't do it anyway. i think i decided i wouldn't be able to get a job there, and i think that's when i drove out west for one of my longer adventures.

NYC was the first place I fit in. Even when I was in my home town, people asked me where I was from and assumed I was from "the city" long before I moved there. Now it's changed, and I don't fit in there anymore, but I don't feel like I fit in with greater NJ. So... I feel like Jersey City is probably the right place for me to be, I suppose?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59am
