“Little Records” is a two hour radio show hosted by “The Big G” focusing on the little Records, both literal and figurative. 45’s of high quality but lowly chart stature. Mostly we’ll be covering Blues, Jazz, R&B, Country and Rock & Roll, but the show is freeform so anything that’s appeared on a 45RPM record, starting with RCA’s introduction of the format in 1949 is fair game.

I'm crushed man. Under the weight of a million pyramids. Little Richard forever and always!!!! The Killer, alone, must now pump his keys... for all those who've gone before, Richard Penniman, Fats Domino, Jim Dickinson, and a multitude of Ivy ticklers from here to infinity.
The Big G
Avatar 8:04pm Debbie D.:

Me too, Greg. So much loss. Glad we are here to keep the flame alive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm StringOFperils:

Yup. Really too bad about Richard. He unleashed a lot of rock and roll energy into the world. He was unique, and that ain't easy to do, and it ain't easy to be.
Avatar 8:05pm The Big G:

Welcome Debbie and StringOfPearls!
Avatar 8:06pm Glynis GirlGroupGirl:

mmmmmm, taters!
  8:07pm bigplanetnoise:

Howdy everyone... Catalina Caper on deck for tonight, in honor of Mr. P. ❤️
Avatar 8:08pm The Big G:

Glynis, hey BPN, If only Max Bear was gear to show us how to dig gators!!!
Avatar 8:10pm Debbie D.:

Richard was a drag queen in Macon, Ga. in the 1950's. Let that sink in. My Dad used to tell me stories about seeing him in the parking lot of the burger joing (small town fun) doing the hand jive. And when he played the Auditorium, whites were upstairs, band and cool kids were downstairs. In my bones. RIP.
Avatar 8:10pm Debbie D.:

*burger joint
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm Chop Scott:

Cocktail in hand--thanks for this tonight!
Avatar 8:11pm The Big G:

Awesome history Debbie!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm Gina Bacon:

Howdy, all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm StringOFperils:

I saw him once, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, of all places, in winter. What a fate for a southern boy, even for one night. Mid '70s. I think he was coked out of his mind. Gave the band a really hard time. Needless to say, memorable.
Avatar 8:13pm Joe B:

Wheels on Fire! great band, played at FMU in 2010, ending their set with this very song!
Avatar 8:13pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Man, I forgot how great "Tator" was. Like Little Richard, Bobby Lee Trammell made great records over a span of decades.
Avatar 8:14pm Joe B:

Big G, show's sounding great! greetings all
Avatar 8:14pm The Big G:

Hey Gina! Also Debbie, Richards authorized biography is one of the best rock books ever!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm Gina Bacon:

I ordered that book today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm Gaylord Fields:

Ooowee! I certainly found out where THEE party is tonight!
Avatar 8:16pm The Big G:

Gaylord I’m the house!!!!!!
Avatar 8:16pm Debbie D.:

It's on my bedside table! I've been rereading it recently, because we were supposed to do doc @ Richard for PBS but the funding never came thru. Wonder what will happen with that project now. Charles White was a consultant. I want something real.
Avatar 8:17pm Debbie D.:

#1 Orgy with Buddy Holly. WOW.
Avatar 8:18pm The Big G:

For real Debbie. I was just watching a video last night of Travis Wammack talked me about recording “Greenwood Mississippi” with Richard. Travis wrote it!
Avatar 8:18pm Debbie D.:

I'm not livin' right!!! Hahaha.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:18pm Gaylord Fields:

The Medium-Sized G defers to my superior number (and letter) The Big G tonight!
Avatar 8:20pm Debbie D.:

I love Travis Wammack. Thank you. Not enough spins, in my opinion.
Avatar 8:21pm The Big G:

My hero!
Avatar 8:21pm Debbie D.:

Avatar 8:22pm Debbie D.:

Avatar 8:27pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Avatar 8:28pm Debbie D.:

Oh shit, another one I'm gonna have to track down! ;)
Avatar 8:29pm The Big G:

Avatar 8:29pm Debbie D.:

Modern day monsters are orange and proud.
Avatar 8:31pm The Big G:

Pride and liberty are not the same. Nope. no, no, no, no
Avatar 8:31pm Joe B:

Avatar 8:32pm The Big G:

played with Pink Slip Daddy many years ago. And I never made the connection. Thanks Joe!
Avatar 8:33pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

Bobby Hebb is really enjoying a resurgence thanks to Little Records With The Big G.
Avatar 8:34pm The Big G:

Big promotion for Mr Hebb!
Avatar 8:34pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

According to Discogs, "Sunny '76" came out in 1975. Bobby Hebb was truly ahead of his time.
Avatar 8:34pm Joe B:

bigger bump here than opening for the beatles!
Avatar 8:34pm Debbie D.:

About time.
Avatar 8:37pm Joe B:

guessing Original Beatles Drummer Records hasn't registered with Sound Exchange
Avatar 8:37pm The Big G:

Bobby Hebb, musician, visionary
Avatar 8:38pm The Big G:

If there's a penny to be made, Pete is on the case. my hero!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm Gaylord Fields:

Someone really should write "The Bob Gallo Story"! That guy was the William Castle of Beat groups.
Avatar 8:40pm The Big G:

talk about ahead of your time!!
Avatar 8:43pm Todd-o-phonic Todd:

That comparison was worthy of The Baseball Prospectus, Gaylord.
Avatar 8:45pm The Big G:

Mr Di Muci!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46pm Gaylord Fields:

Thanks, Todd — think I've got 10,000 words (and a whole lot of leisure time) I can spare on the topic.

Avatar 9:09pm Debbie D.:

Jerry Lee must have a deal.
Avatar 9:12pm The Big G:

Or perhaps Debbie,
It's his reluctance to sign on the dotted line for either team that keeps him in a limbo of existence.
Avatar 9:14pm Debbie D.:

Avatar 9:15pm The Big G:

For Real.
