We have a large farmers' market in Madison. The weird thing about it is that the street stays open to traffic and all the vendors are crammed onto the sidewalk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:57pm David Dichelle:

How is everyone doing this week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:58pm Doug Schulkind:

Hello David, Sweet William, Lady Margaret, and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm David Dichelle:

Farmer's markets, good subject. Read one bit on the link @fred provided. Nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Bas NL:

Actually getting things finished @home! Great set this, David! And hi Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Doug Schulkind:

Howdy, Bas!
Avatar 4:07pm JakeGould:

@βrian: The capital square farmer’s market? The streets work fine for that. In NYC the Union Square famer’s market is still active on the west side of Union Square. Far less people selling but they are all nice and solid in the middle of all of this.
Avatar 4:08pm TDK60:

NYC is still fairly closed, still a high virus area.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Webhamster Henry:

Thanks for bringing back Daneil Kahn & The Painted Bird!
Avatar 4:09pm spodiodi:

just replenished our groceries yesterday here in sf. nervous about all of the re-open chatter
Avatar 4:10pm JakeGould:

@TDK60: Fairly closed is an understatement. The only real activity near me is my corner in Bay Ridge is a designated food aid distribution point for Muslim-based groups. Lots of people with government boxes of food. Anyone can take so you see the elderly who are not Muslim pushing granny carts with boxes of food. Sad and grounding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Bas NL:

Arbetslosemarsch.. Great song. ;)
Avatar 4:11pm JakeGould:

FWIW, we’re in the middle of Ramadan here so that is where the food distribution is coming from.

I received my first unemployment check-actually a pre-paid debit card with an extra $1200, not sure why I got that extra amount, afraid to spend it.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm Carmichael:

You're rich, chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm David Dichelle:

Thanks for finding the link, Henry!
Avatar 4:12pm JakeGould:

@chresti: I think they are giving people an extra $600 per week unemployment as a back-door aid package.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm David Dichelle:

Bas: Yes, and also performed by Zupfgeigenhansel, in fact.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm Webhamster Henry:

Brecht was asked about this at the HUAC trial.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm Bas NL:

I have a copy of Zupfgeigenhansel's album 'ch Hob Gehert Sogn, which has the Arbertslosemarsch on it. I love that album!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm David Dichelle:

Yes, great stuff, Bas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:18pm chresti:

Ah, I see, Pandemic Additional Compensation, thanks Jake.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm David Dichelle:

Hello Brian - yes, several rivers, canals, and various in-between things.
Avatar 4:19pm Brian in UK:

Wonder if there will be an artistic time lag following this bizarre escapade.
Avatar 4:20pm JakeGould:

@chresti: Yup. And the crazy logic I hear about that extra $600 per week is to not only give people without work extra $$$ but also to encourage business owners to just close up shops to prevent people coming in during this mess. That extra $600 a week is probably more than most wage earners make.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm David Dichelle:

Brian, good question. Or an artistic explosion?
Avatar 4:22pm JakeGould:

I just want to be able to go to museums again.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm David Dichelle:

Good evening, Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm David Dichelle:

Kevin: Yes, a few great tracks on that one. (Well most if not all of them)
Avatar 4:34pm Brian in UK:

Following the Communist 'collapse' in 1990 there was a tacit global acceptance that capitalism was the acceptable order of things. This pandemic has questioned the wisdom of this idea. What price life over mammon?
Time to question the things that we have willingly accepted recently; internet, global travel, multinationals. Where are we going?
Avatar 4:35pm Brian in UK:

Hey Stanley. How's the dreadlock ina tenement yard?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm KevinfromBayRidge:

Up,up & away, Stanley! Any prospects of strolls to the Edinburgh pubs in the reasonable future?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Stanley:

Our local craft place is doing growler pickup Weds to Sunday. Dearly missed but might avail of this option.
Avatar 4:45pm Brian in UK:

David I think that Henry.. was one of RT's least popular albums.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Carmichael:

I pick up bottles and the odd growler from my local crafty. They will also slip me a pint and tell me to "drink quickly".
Avatar 4:46pm Franco Twinkie:

I said the hell with hair cuts and shaving years ago. I look like a wild man and I don't care.
Avatar 4:47pm TDK60:

Brian, is there still a speakers' corner in Hyde Park? Probably closed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:49pm chresti:

What's a growler?
Avatar 4:49pm βrian:

Jug o' beer.
Avatar 4:49pm Brian in UK:

TDK60 yes, but in abeyance at the moment, I believe. Did not mean to rant, just had to let it go.

Avatar 4:51pm βrian:

Exceptin' in that case it was prolly corn liquor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm David Dichelle:

Hey there, Franco, I got a home-cut myself, works for me!
Avatar 4:53pm Brian in UK:

Do you get scrumpy/cider or perry over your way?
Avatar 4:53pm Franco Twinkie:

Chresti brought a weed infusion beverage to my attention this morning. Looked refreshing, but they're out of stock. Today it's hot outside and every one has the same idea - get blasted and let the parade of fools walk on by.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Stanley:

Niceo ne, Kevin and Carmichael.
I get a weekly curbside pick up of beers and, last week, whisky.
I could also get a delivery from a brewery but I've opted to support my local off-licence. Talking of which............(returns with large Scotch)
  4:54pm JakeGould:

Growlers back in the day used to just be small buckets. I just finished watching “The Public Enemy” and you see lots of growlers being filled. And that kids any about the hole in the bucket? That “bucket” was a growler.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm David Dichelle:

Cheers, everyone!
Avatar 4:55pm Franco Twinkie:

David, my mom was good with the scissors, but she's under house arrest at the old folks home right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm David Dichelle:

Franco, that doesn't sound great, how is she coping?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Carmichael:

So THAT'S why there's an old song called My Bucket Has a Hole In It.
Avatar 4:57pm Brian in UK:

Oh to be standing on the Galata Bridge right now.
Avatar 4:58pm Franco Twinkie:

Well, she excepts the situation, but shes not happy about it. But then, neither am I.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm David Dichelle:

Brian, this has surely been heard there before, if not this year.
Avatar 4:58pm TDK60:

I remember my dad coming home on Sundays with big paper cans of beer from a tavern, due to Sunday blue laws. (no stores)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Carmichael:

Avatar 5:00pm Franco Twinkie:

The problem with my mom is she likes to hijack buses.
Avatar 5:00pm Brian in UK:

Carmichael, I do not mean to pry but have you considered another pup?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Bas NL:

I went over to my elderly parents today after months.. my fathers' computer crashed and he's really hooked on it, so i had to help out. With facial mask.. alcohol rubs.. it was nearly funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Carmichael:

@UK Brian, I have purposely not. Maybe in a year's time. It will take me that long to find a suitable name.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm Stanley:

Bas, that sounds great. I'm doing as much as I can for mine, 1,000 miles away. Tomorrow I'm doing the prescriptions order over the phone.
Avatar 5:04pm Brian in UK:

Carmichael, same for a friend of mine. Who is to know when is right. Guess you will know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm Bas NL:

That is some ways out of the way @Stanley.. To me it's only a leasurly half an hour by bike.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm David Dichelle:

Stanley, sounds like they might live around here somewhere, in fact.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm David Dichelle:

(I mean the distance sounds about right)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Stanley:
