I play music that is old and that is new. Some of it is digital while some is analog. It is from many different countries; sometimes it is loud and at other times it is quiet.

It feels kinda weird not to be working while the sun is so high. But Play Vertigo time is sacred. Has it only been a week?
  12:08pm JakeGould:

Espresso Americano here. I’m fine.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Franco Twinkie:

Mayuko, The sun is still up in the sky over here, and I'm outside on the front porch drawing, but I suspect any minute now the sun is going to fall into the sea. But in the mean time, I think I'll have more coffee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm chresti:

Have you tried the drop of liquid soap trick? You leave a film of soap on the lenses@Par.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm fred:

@ParUbi: Mark Hurst said that washing glasses in soapy water then letting them dry without rinsing helps. I tried it and it seems to work (main issue is waiting for them to dry without headbutting walls)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Doug. I checked your disco playlist afterwards yesterday. Looks like it was quite a party.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm ParUbi:

@fred: thanks for the tip-- I'll give it a shot!

  12:19pm rw:

Good morning! Espresso here. But it's not working so well. That image is creepy and funny at the same time. I wish I could read Japanese. Does it go right to left?
  12:20pm rw:

Oh. They're saying the same thing. I guess it doesn't matter.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm fred:

@rw: I think it's left to right horizontally, but right to left vertically. Not that it makes any difference to me, it might as well be German
  12:21pm JakeGould:

That’s Perseus with Medusa’s head. fineartamerica.com...
Avatar 12:22pm Mayuko:

Good morning rw! It goes left to right. Both says "Unknown Person."

  12:24pm rw:

But Jake got it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

There's a project for when museums open up again. Go around to all the statues and fill the database.
Avatar 12:26pm Mayuko:

Jake is clearly superior to facial recognition systems.
Avatar 12:26pm Mayuko:

Hii, spodiodi!!
  12:27pm rw:

Medusa looks a little like my ex-mother-in-law.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm fred:

Then again, any facial recognition system that took a good look at Medusa was probably bricked
  12:28pm JakeGould:

The thing about ancient art statuary and stuff… It’s kinda easy to figure out the subjects and such… I mean, how many other statues exist with that theme?
Avatar 12:28pm spodiodi:

i wish my gf let me have a little pet snake :(
  12:28pm rw:

Maybe more like my ex-sister-in-law.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm Michael 98145:

Here we are
Avatar 12:30pm Mayuko:

But I'd imagine many characters been beheaded in the ancient time stories though? Jake is still superior to facial recognition system.
Avatar 12:31pm Mayuko:

@rw I hope the similarity was only the appearance.
Avatar 12:31pm Mayuko:

Thanks for tuning in, M98145!

Avatar 1:14pm JosephB:

Hey Mayuko and gang! I'm just getting up...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm WR:

Mayuko, what you said about first encountering "noise" recordings and it resonating for you, there is something about sounds reflecting unarticulated thoughts or feelings which brings joy and relief.
  1:14pm rw:

Yesterday I heard the most beautiful squeaking. One of those roof mounted air vents.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm fred:

@paul b: Wow, that's serious! I hope you're recovering
Avatar 1:15pm spodiodi:

paul b: hope you are recovering well
  1:15pm rw:

It sounded a little like the lower bird calls in this Wolves and birds track.

Avatar 1:18pm Mayuko:

Oh my god paul b!!!!! I am so glad you are okay and comfortable now!!!! Thank you for letting us know!!!!!!!
Avatar 1:18pm spodiodi:

spodiodi: wikipedia says this about 25 or 6 to 4 : According to composer Robert Lamm, the song is about trying to write a song in the middle of the night. The song's title is the time at which the song is set: 25 or 26 minutes before 4 am.[18][19] Because of the unique phrasing of the song's title, "25 or 6 to 4" has been interpreted to mean everything from a quantity of illicit drugs to the name of a famous person in code.[20]

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm chresti:

Thanks spodi.
Glad you're recovering and healing with Mayuko's help @PaulB
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm Stanley:

Thanks Mayuko. I'm okay but a bit fed up, if truth be told, with the lack of space. Staying in as instructed. Having the window wide open helps.
Avatar 1:34pm dougseidel:

Thank you Mayuko for making a world to be in
Avatar 1:37pm JosephB:

Mayuko and listenerds, I was wondering if you might help me identify an artist who has been played on Vertigo in the past. I've searched the archives to no avail. He's a Japanese guitarist. The tracks I remember were instrumental and lo-fi. He uses drum machines, which makes it sound a bit industrial, and the guitar is heavy and distorted. I want to say mid 80s, but I could be wrong. Does this ring a bell for anyone? Thanks!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Best or luck on your full and speedy recover, paul b. If you listen to the Wake 'n' Bake program, Clay Pigeon is doing fine, but not doing the show on account of some transportation issues. He should be back on 5/11.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm chresti:

That sounds like something I would like @JosephB
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm Brian in UK:

Hello Mayuko and hipsters.

@FRED I sent you this link on Jeffrey's show, not sure if you saw it. Thought you might like it.
Avatar 1:42pm Mayuko:

@Stanley yeah, lack of space really sucks at difficult times like this! I remember it was SO hard to live in a closet-like small space while having bad depression.

However as a Japanese person I've been trained my WHOLE life to live in a tiny space so THAT helps! I guess!!!!! :D
Avatar 1:42pm Mayuko:

Hi dougseidel!!! Thank you for being here!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44pm fred:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Franco Twinkie:

Years ago I met this young Chilean guy who had hitch-hiked all the way up South America through the war zone of Central America. I let him stay at my house and he told me about all the crazy shit he had seen. One night we went to this club to see a friends band play. Also playing was this other another band that played tribal industrial percussion noise music. Run of the mill stuff for me, but he was totally freaked out! After seen brutality and mayhem up close, this bunch of Hollywood weirdos hitting amplified oil drums was to much for him. Sound can be destabilizing, that's why it is used as an instrument of torture. It is not a character flaw to dislike purposefully ugly sound. But hey, we're all intercepting on different wave lenghts,no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm fred:

In an alarming development, I am now out of ice cream
Avatar 1:50pm JosephB:

@franco That must have been intense for that guy. Out of curiosity, what was the band/club???
Avatar 1:51pm Mayuko:

@Joe B hmm! Only Hiiragi Fukuda comes to my mind right now, though not exactly industrial maybe. More a little bit like Suicide.
Avatar 1:51pm spodiodi:

sounds like a PTSD kind of experience for him, Franco
