Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Davis:

this song proves how good a singer songwriter Dylan is- incredibly difficult to sing. Good version though. Dylan's timing when he sings is very very good, it is hard to try and sing his songs

Avatar 🍺 Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I am interested to see of "Murder Most Foul" appears today. Has anyone covered that yet?
Avatar 12:11pm zivilars:

Saying "Bob Dylan can't sing" needs to specify a time period to be discussed IMO - there were times when he could (and wanted to) sing and some when not
12:11pm farmer rye in santa Cruz:

lol michele u rock. bob dylan can’t sing i totally agree he can write. he doesn’t even know the words of his own songs
Avatar 🍺 Swag For Life Member 12:12pm p20:

I don't mind Dylan's voice (except when he sings "lay lady lay"). On some songs like Idiot Wind, his voice is perfect

Avatar 🍺 Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Handy Haversack:

Bob shall be redeemed especially when women rescue his songs from the general aura of squickiness that surrounds everything he does. I just find them easier to take from women than from him sometimes -- and I really do like (those prenominate fifteen years of) him.

Just there comes a time when you're like, OK, shut up and rest. We got other stuff to deal with for a while.

The cilantro analogy is interesting because there really are some people whose tastebuds are "wired" to tast dirt or soap when they eat cilantro ( at least I think so ) and maybe there is a sound version of that for certain singers like Dylan. I have always loved his voice but I get that some people don't. But the fact that his songs can be covered so beautifully by so many dvierse people attests to his power as a songwriter

About Bob Dylans voice and why some people say it sounds all right especially fans. you have to consider BD's bigger than life's image and the decades of his accomplished work. people can't help but be impressed by him. so when they invest all that time and money in him, they buy into the hype that he sounds good. and trick themselves into developing an acquired ear to the sound of his voice. even though it's high pitched whiny nasally and out of tune.

Oh well that's good. But yeah, the Dextromethorphan in cough medicine can make you trip. But if anyone were to do it, do be careful to be sure there's nothing in there other than DXM. Again, not encouraging though.

I’m thrilled to discover so many other WFMU listeners are Miley fans. You don’t know how ostracized I have felt in hipster circles. I think haters are unable to separate her from her dad and her teeenage TV role (see also: the Monkees, circa HEAD) and hate her on principle. But her DEAD PETZ album & tour w Flaming Lips was just amazing.
Avatar 2:34pm PKNY:

The only reason for GNR to cover that is purely as a vechicle to bring "gimme some reggae!" into the world --> www.youtube.com...

@crap, I use hipster in a non derogatory sense to describe people like everyone listening to this show, including myself. (I am 59, but I know 20something through 70something “hipsters,” who are just open to new cultural adventures.) That’s the way I have used it since the 80s; I hate the way it is currently attached to a specific recent generation as a bad trait.
