Good morning, whoever is out there...
Avatar 6:03am Sem:

Hello, and good morning, Jeffrey. Hope all is well wth you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:04am Stanley:

Jeffrey, Sem. A very good morning to you.

Everything’s gonna be smooth as a rhapsody
When I paint
my masterpiece.”
Avatar 6:06am Ruth Booth:

Happy Good Morning, everyone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06am Jeffrey Davison:

Welcome Sem, Stanley. I'm good, thanks. Staying inside 23 hours a day. Not working, and collecting unemployment, so grateful for that. After that, I'll probably buy $500 worth of lottery tickets a week.
Swag For Life Member 6:08am 12539:

Heigh ho, just listening attentively.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08am Nulsh:

Mornin' amigos!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08am Stanley:

Good luck with the plan, Jeffrey
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08am Jeffrey Davison:

Welcome LiXiviated Life, that's a perfect bit of Dylan for these times. And good morning Ruth, once again working her wizardly ways. Thank you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09am Jeffrey Davison:

12359, welcome, but no Ramones coming up this morning. Welcome Nulsh.
Stanley: should it be more than $500? Better odds, no?

Avatar 6:11am Sem:

Good morning, Stanley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11am Stanley:

Hi Nulsh. I was wondering whether you enjoy the Janey Godley pieces she puts up on YT.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12am Jeffrey Davison:

good morning, modern blaze...yeah, I love the Ramones, too.

R we live to tape? Kinda thing? Kitchen table ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18am Nulsh:

Hey Stanley. Yeah, she is funny. The Trump sign still makes me chortle.
  6:20am listener monica:

Good morning Jeffrey! It's been awhile since I have sat at my kitchen table with my coffee and radio on on a Saturday morning. Does this signal that normalcy may ever return?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21am Jeffrey Davison:

Welcome xtsayre, Creature Boy...
FYI, all, this was recorded Wednesday afternoon, at home. I had invited Phil Spector to engineer the session, but he wasn't able to make it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21am Stanley:

Jeffrey - I just looked up the odds of winning the jackpot in the US. They are around 1 in 300 million, so your $500 reduces this dramatically to 1 in 600,000. Factor in all the lucky charms, prayers, incantations and positive focus and this could reduce the odds even further.
Avatar 6:21am Creature Boy:

Cuz if we were truly live I would think the Ramones' jangly "Questioningly" would go nicely
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21am Jeffrey Davison:

listener monica: sounds like closer to normalcy for you. Not for me or FMU anytime soon, but as we say, stay tuned...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am Jeffrey Davison:

Stanley, I'm on my way out the door to buy tickets!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am Jeffrey Davison:

Questioningly, that's such a good one...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22am Stanley:

Nulsh - I thought her sign was as succinct as it could get. Nothing more needed to be said.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24am Jeffrey Davison:

Actually, Questioningly is the title of my WFMU 2020 Marathon premium...no Ramones on it, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24am Stanley:

jeffrey - stay at home and waste your money online. You know it makes sense.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24am Jeffrey Davison:

Jack Rose, just killing it on guitar here...
Avatar 6:26am TDK60:

Good morning. I'm going to lay back down a bit and listen from the dream cushion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27am Nulsh:

He is that Jeffrey.I actually added this Pelt release to my listening list after last week's show. Actually may have been a coupla' weeks back.

Hey TDK60!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29am Jeffrey Davison:

TDK60, good morning.
By the way, does anyone have any info on guitarist Evan Miller? Does not seem to have a bandcamp page. No releases on Discogs after 2009. There's another Evan Miller on bandcamp, a percussionist, younger guy.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47am Jeffrey Davison:

Earth Walker, sounds good. Monica...yes, I love this record. Btw, gentle listeners, Tyler was a guest on my show in 2013, mid-May. Not only a great player, but a real raconteur, with great stories and insights. It's the only time that a live session on SP was played in two parts.

  6:50am James Celentanp:

Now more than ever this music and your segment have become a life line.. Cheers!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50am Jeffrey Davison:

duke, good morning, and you got that right, sad to say. I have to believe that the planet will come out of this with a greater understanding. The 1918 flu came long before we were all connected up in the way we are today. It seems clearer what needs to be done. Now, if we can only insist on what we need, the planet might turn out okay in the end. But we have to hurry...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51am Jeffrey Davison:

James Celentanp: thank you for the kind words, and welcome...
Avatar 6:54am duke:

@jeffrey Mrs. duke and I were having that conversation last evening. I tend to be pessimistic by nature, she's more practical/optimistic. She thinks this is our opportunity to shed a lot of things we don't need and get down to what's important.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01am Jeffrey Davison:

The disparity of income must be addressed, on a global scale. Clearly, we must prepare for the next pandemic, as everyone who is in a position to know has said that these are a certainty. It seems that there should be plenty of work, transforming the world as we continue to experience climate change...

Avatar 7:10am Ignatatus666:

Good evening all
Thanks for the brief disclaimer in reference to political discussions.
On a bright note
I noticed last Tuesday and Wednesday on my way to the Bronx and on my way to Brooklyn that the traffic is starting return during daylight.
I never thought I would welcome seeing traffic. It gives me hope.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:12am Jeffrey Davison:

Davec1, welcome...good one by Tennessee Ernie Ford. Ignatatus666, welcome. Does seem to be more traffic, even on my brief walks in the neighborhood.
Avatar 7:17am TDK60:

My contribution recently has been trying to get tenants here to support a rent moratorium. Calling our city councilperson, mayor, governor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am Roger:

Thank you, Jeffrey, for the perfect Sat AM start
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20am Jeffrey Davison:

TDK60, a worthy cause. DeBlasio and Cuomo say they are working on it (not necessarily together) but it seems that they're sidestepping the issue somewhat. Maybe not, as it's complicated...
Roger: you're welcome...thanks.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25am Jeffrey Davison:

Hugo, welcome and thank you.
zivilars, ditto...always a pleasure to send this music out to the world...
Avatar 7:25am Ignatatus666:

More traffic means people going back to work and also commerce. The times I was traveling was in rush hour though. So definitely back to work which is what we need to see. I just know that will eventually mean more businesses like ours will start to pick up again. I’ve been is several neighborhoods and saw blocks of parked taxis. That’s bad for the consumer and the industry. Hopefully must of the yellow and green cabs are leased daily not owner operator

The NY Blood Center is looking for plasma donations from people who have had laboratory-confirmed cases. I understand this is kind of a catch-22, as many who have recovered cannot get tested. But anyway:

Now is also a good time to reach out to someone, an old friend you've been out of touch with, for example. I've actually written two letters this week. Bear in mind that it's a mitzvah, and that person may really need to hear from someone...
Avatar 7:37am Ignatatus666:

I see now more then ever more and more community groups on social media in the area where I work with Food Distribution sites 2/3 times per week as well volunteers taking names and addresses of sick and elderly to drop food by their front doors. Its a beautiful thing when we shut the political talk off and stop the blame game.

I was under the impression that was set in stone by the GuvNuh
Mortgage payments and rents are suspended. That’s not true?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am EG_Astro:

Rent is not suspended.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am Jeffrey Davison:

Ignatatus: yes, the only way we're going to move forward (as a race of beings on a planet) is together. Yes, there is a lot of finger-pointing now. However, as someone pointed out to me that the Renaissance came after the Black Plague, there has to be a reckoning of what worked during this time and what didn't. This is a necessary step in order to make change...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am EG_Astro:

Evications are suspended. Deblasio is talking about a rent "deferment" which is unhelpful and asking tenants to pay double rent when things are "back to normal"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am EG_Astro:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42am Kevin-san:

Good morning all, great set JD! And a very happy World Penguin Day to those who celebrate kevinwatsonphoto.com...
Avatar 7:44am TDK60:

Ignatatus666, I think they have an eviction moratorium but not a rent/mortgage one. (NY State.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am Jeffrey Davison:

The leaders in NY need to do more, as the eviction suspension, while welcome, isn't near enough. Nor are the mortgage deferments, as people with no income won't be able to pay the 4-month lump sum payment at the end of the deferment, with no income having come in.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning, Gavin in Bristol, and Kevin-san.
Avatar 7:47am Ignatatus666:

The rent of course should be suspended and not expected all at once. The protection for tenants would be the back rent broken down for a year and added to the those months rent. With the mortgage the payments should be added to the back end of the payment schedule so there are no penalties and no 3/4 months mortgage payment up front.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48am Jeffrey Davison:

As far as I know, there is no rent, mortgage or condo payment suspension or relief. I guess one of the tricky parts is that with a renter, there isn't a back end, necessarily, as the lease has an expiration, unless landlord and tenant agree to a three month extension after the term of the lease.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49am EG_Astro:

Asking tenants to pay 2x the rent for however months it takes them to "pay it back"? And what if a tenant needs or wants to move? There isn't a back end like a loan
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49am Jeffrey Davison:

EG_Astro...yeah, that's a sticky wicket.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51am EG_Astro:

It's a lot to consider and figure out, but what folks need is relief so we don't have people deciding btwn food or rent, and going out unnecessarily.

You said it @Jeffrey
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53am EG_Astro:

You don't go around gutting the state budget however as we are seeing in NY. It's a shame. : /

But thank you very much for your show @Jeff. It's a much needed relief and peaceful 3 hrs. : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55am Jeffrey Davison:

The great unknown is if people who were laid off or furloughed will have jobs, or if the job is waiting, when we will all go back to work, and even then, how long before people begin to make a similar amount to what they had been making. This is especially true for self-employed, gig workers, waiters, etc, etc...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57am Jeffrey Davison:

I always felt that The Lower 48 was underrated, and alas, largely unknown. Not all their stuff hits me, but when it works, like this song, it's great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59am fred:

I'm being self-centered here, but this is really tough on dancers: no shows for the foreseeable future, but also a very reduced ability to train, leading to risk of injury when they're able to get back to it. (not that I'm one, I'm just a contemporary dance fan, and miss it a lot)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03am Roger:

Jeffrey, I miss seeing your smiling face on Saturday mornings, not to mention your smokin' hot bod!
Avatar 8:03am TDK60:

The "gig" workers, in tourism, art, music, vending, etc. etc. will probably be hurting for a good while. One term for us is, the "precariat".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04am Jeffrey Davison:

fred: agreed. Artists of every stripe are having a hard time, especially those who depend on performance as part or all of their income. This includes visual artists who rely on exhibitions, too. TDK60: agreed, all hourly workers are members of the precariat. Good one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06am Jeffrey Davison:

Roger: you need to see your optometrist. However, I am exercising, after a long hiatus, so who knows...and yes, seeing you and Amanda, although necessarily brief, was always a lovely part of my Saturday mornings...

Last night, DJ Daniel Blumin (who himself got a bit hot under the collar for a moment) mentioned this one group helping out: the National Bartenders Guild has some grants for out-of-work bartenders. (See their site if relevant.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16am Jeffrey Davison:

As someone who has worked in the food business since 1980, I know that many are underpaid, have no union representation, work hourly, and deal with crap that many people can't imagine. That being said, I can't imagine being a doctor or nurse or health care worker now.
If you have Netflix, and want to see an amazing show, watch Chef's Table. Each episode features one chef, and the story of how they got to where they are. Especially poignant now, as most of us can't eat in restaurants, and of course many restaurants are closed. It's a deep and emotional series, and a reminder of what we've lost, either temporarily or permanently, as many places won't make it.
Avatar 8:19am TDK60:

Some intriguing cuts in that last set. Can't afford to buy their music now. But it'll be here, in the Planet drawer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21am Jeffrey Davison:

While you're at it, read this amazing article by chef Gabrielle Hamilton, in the NY Times. IMHO the most eloquent person in the food business:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:21am fred:

I'm afraid many music venues (whether small ones or bars/restaurants with a stage) won't make it either. Both will probably be scooped up by banks and chains for pennies, leading to even more homogenization.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am Jeffrey Davison:

fred: you may be right, unfortunately. However, not all of these places can be converted to chain stores (not even close), and in a rational world, a bit of help would mean that these places could be kept alive (given what drinks cost in clubs, some would recover more quickly!). Some clubs may be able to weather a closure of a month or two, but longer than that? Seems iffy, to say the least. And afterwards, how will clubs reopen, and how many will venture out as they once did?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27am Jeffrey Davison:

testingwithfire, thanks
Avatar 8:27am Ignatatus666:

I am also familiar with the food/bar/music industry
I was a promoter a ban manager a chef and a Baker. I as a passion now have a silly food page and do secret shopper as well as consultation. 100 percent these artists and professionals are in big trouble financially. That includes much of if not the majority of my income. And my Brothers as he’s a rigger. He took a temp at an amazon warehouse and was released at lunchtime for using his own safety equipment

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31am Jeffrey Davison:

I hear you Ignatatus666. Agreed, all these people are in financial straits.Sorry to hear about your brother. That really sucks. My sister is a nurse, and had fatigue last week but because no fever or cough, they won't test her. They have a lot of workers already out, so the hospital actually doesn't want to test, rather not know if their workers are themselves ill.

Good morning everyone. Nice quiet atmosphere JD. All the best to you all, figuring out how this world-predicament shakes out for each of us, in the coming months and years. We're going to see a lot of change. I'll remember when we met at this crossroads, and I'll carry good thoughts with me, down the road.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39am Jeffrey Davison:

Interesting fact, I played this song exactly 5 years ago. Also, Tift was a guest on my show in 2013. One of my favorite sessions. Great songwriter and singer and a lovely person.

Hello Jeffrey, Ruth and all who helped reach the goal.

Gavin, you're welcome, and I don't think I greeted you earlier. Good morning.
Fredericks: seems so...
12539, you're welcome.
Avatar 8:45am TDK60:

Fredericks: Yes. (I think it came from some wise-guy lefties in France, in the late '90s.)

Hi everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49am Jeffrey Davison:

clarke: yes, plenty of rediscoveries, but limited to CDs now. Have to see how I can play downloads (though I don't have many) and while some say that I can add tracks from the web, others say I need a second computer to do so. Still have to check.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50am Jeffrey Davison:

Good morning, melinda.
  8:50am Grilbert:

Anyone know where to find Precious Bloods music?
  8:51am clarke:

well, there are MANY shows that could come straight from your cd's!! don't rush into anything, ha ha. what i was getting at is that the shows are really great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52am Jeffrey Davison:

Grilbert: tough to find. That CDr was pretty limited, and long out of print. None for sale on Discogs at present.
clarke: ha, thanks! Not rushing, no...
  8:53am clarke:

it must be a little 'freeing' to not have to play the merits rack, for a change???
  8:53am Grilbert:

Ahh Well great tune
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:54am Jeffrey Davison:

Grilbert: Amy Annelle, one half of Precious Blood, has a bandcamp page:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55am Jeffrey Davison:
