Avatar 7:03pm spacebrother:

I'm bursting with optimism.
  7:04pm CC:

Hey space dude nice beginning to your show!!!... greetings all!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi SOP! Hi Mr Fab! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's midnight here and I thought I'd just step out onto the balcony, bit of night air, stretch my legs ... It is FREEZING out there! I was not prepared for that.
  7:05pm Martinibomb:

ooooooh Julie London doing louie louie holy fuck this rules
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi CC! :-)
Avatar 7:05pm spacebrother:

Hey SOP, GG, El Fab, CC!
Avatar 7:05pm Mr Fab:

And spacebrother: another fantastic fill-in, fella! Hope you all got a chance to check out yesterday's Teenage Wastelend. (Stop Hitting Your Teenage Self Wasteland?).
  7:05pm Martinibomb:

  7:06pm Martinibomb:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I love how Julie London purred a song :-)
  7:07pm Martinibomb:

yeh that was a great way to go at that son
  7:08pm CC:

are you live on your own transmitter today???
Avatar 7:08pm spacebrother:

@ Fab - THANKS!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - glad you liked the sitars! :-)
Avatar 7:10pm spacebrother:

@ CC - Yes. Sheena's broadcast standard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is a song?? Nooo ... there's a two Ronnies sketch from the 70s that riffs on this and I had no idea it was originally a song! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Burl Ives voice makes me so happy. Childhood comfort :-)
Avatar 7:14pm spacebrother:

I would never have known about that Two Ronnies refernce!
  7:14pm CC:

yeah GG... him and Hoyt Axton always hit a soft spot with me...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar 7:18pm Mr Fab:

When I was a kid, and Dinah Shore was known for her talk show, i thought it was funny that her name sounded like 'dinosaur.' i thought it *must* have been intentional, and she loved dinosaurs as much as I did. Could be!
Avatar 7:18pm spacebrother:

My FAVORITE period of DEVO.
Avatar 7:19pm spacebrother:

@ Mr. Fab - LOL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

  7:19pm CC:

I guess Linda had to go???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ah, Merv :-)
Avatar 7:20pm spacebrother:

Maybe I chased Linda off with the dissonance of this mix.
Avatar 7:21pm Mr Fab:

Merv, ANOTHER big-band era singer turned talk show host. it was quite the career path back then.
  7:21pm CC:

I always loved the conversation between him and Liberace...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Greg and folks! Here for Merv's Trip.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Is there an album of this? Is the rest of the album like this?? Because this is GREAT :-)
Avatar 7:21pm spacebrother:

He was apparently pansexual too.
Avatar 7:23pm spacebrother:

@ GG - The DEVO?
  7:23pm CC:

I think he was secretly jealous of Mike Douglas' voice!!!...hehehe
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:24pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

The Merv one :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Otis Fodder:

Messer Twin Twist? Nice!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I follow some incredible artists who do doll makeovers, and one of them turned a Barbie into Laura Palmer's frozen corpse. It is stunning! I'll see if I can find a picture for you.
Avatar 7:30pm spacebrother:

@ GG - Yes, there is an album!
Avatar 7:30pm Mr Fab:

Hey, this is the show spacebrother & I attended together! Didn't know you got a such a great sounding copy of the show.
Avatar 7:31pm spacebrother:

@ Otis - Yes recorded live by me along with Mr. Fab.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm Otis Fodder:

Wow, still want to see Messer live one day.
Avatar 7:32pm Mr Fab:

dang, 8/2016, that long ago..? Messer Chups bring the rock and the roll live, great band.
Avatar 7:32pm Mr Fab:

that'd be a great marathon premium
Avatar 7:33pm spacebrother:

I've seen them 3 or 4 times. Amazing and fun.
  7:33pm CC:

Wow!!!... damn good recording!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Found it :-)
Avatar 7:36pm Mr Fab:

GG: ha haa! Incredible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar 7:39pm spacebrother:

Maybe a premium. Probably have to get permission.
Avatar 7:39pm spacebrother:

Avatar 7:40pm spacebrother:

Lotsa "normal" stuff today, i guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

It's so weird to see "The English Beat" lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41pm ARB:

Hi! Just got home from a dystopian grocery errand, now here to "normalize" with you all
Avatar 7:41pm Mr Fab:

Oi, oi! One of my fave Beat treats. It's accordions, it's got a million funny rhythms for 'Jeanette.' All I need, really.
  7:42pm CC:

yes... some excellent guitar today!!!
Avatar 7:42pm spacebrother:

I guess I could Have just put "Beat."
Avatar 7:42pm spacebrother:

This song just makes me happy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is what I've never understood. The British band The Charlatans lost their lawsuit (obviously), and The Beat lost theirs etc etc. Can't have two well-known bands with the same name and all that.
So how come Nirvana (grunge) got to keep their full name when Nirvana (UK) had already had top ten hits?? That's the bit I don't get.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:43pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi ARB! :-)
Avatar 7:43pm spacebrother:

@GG - Because people suck?
Avatar 7:43pm spacebrother:

Yes, HI ARB!!
Avatar 7:43pm Mr Fab:

Saw Dave wakling and his English General Beat Public all-stars a few years ago. Stan Ridgeway opened. And it was free! Wakling lives in California, he plays all the time 'round here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:44pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Mirror In The Bathroom is one of the finest songs ever written, IMHO.
Avatar 7:44pm Mr Fab:

GG: Lawyers. Whoever has the most/best wins.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:45pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Mr Fab - sad, but true.
Avatar 7:45pm StringOFperils:

The Beat were so great live, saw em when they still had Saxa in the band. People ripped out the first three rows of seats in the brand new theatre they played in that night, with Bow Wow Wow.
Avatar 7:46pm StringOFperils:

It was mad
Avatar 7:46pm Mr Fab:

Mrs Fab is a big fan of the American one, Paul Collin's Beat. So far as she is concerned, THEY are 'The Beat.'
  7:46pm CC:

GG... that's what I tried to tell my son the name of the band he is in As Above So Below I told him there's already an English Band by that name...
  7:46pm Martinibomb:

great show today I really enjoyed it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:47pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@CC - oops!! :-)
Avatar 7:48pm spacebrother:

Thank you MB!
  7:48pm CC:

like Willie Nelson said most songs are the same 3 chords g c d or something like that how do you copyright that???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Why does your show go by so fast??? I'm just getting into my groove! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

I like the band !!! - which is apparently pronounced "chk chk chk" :-)
Avatar 7:50pm StringOFperils:

Hey this is great ! I like it much better than Queen.
Avatar 7:50pm spacebrother:

@ GG - I don't know. It does go fast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm Otis Fodder:

I have newfound appreciation for both Queen and Billy Joel thanks to Sir Spacebrother!
Avatar 7:51pm spacebrother:

@ SOP - This guy is just a buddhist monk who covers songs. Amazing shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

This is fabulous :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:51pm ARB:

Thanks spacebrother!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

LOL!!!! I never thought I'd hear a cover of this! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm ARB:

That's a premature thanks, we still have 8 whole minutes to squeeze in!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:52pm ARB:

This was my favorite to lip sync when I was small
  7:52pm Martinibomb:

ahahah awesome
  7:52pm CC:

like John Lennon said about chords... there's only 12!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:53pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Avatar 7:53pm Mr Fab:

'Banana Erectors' Winners of Band Name of the Week.
Avatar 7:54pm StringOFperils:

too bad the STIFF label isn't still around for them Mr. Fab
Avatar 7:55pm Mr Fab:

Ha! Yeah, covering Devo's 'Be Stiff.'
  7:55pm CC:

great tune!!!
Avatar 7:55pm spacebrother:

I though this song was incredibly dirty when I was a kid, but I didn't know why.
Avatar 7:56pm spacebrother:

Would make a great strip club song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

Stunning show today :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm Otis Fodder:

Thanks for the tunes this evening! See ya!
  7:58pm CC:

Terrific show!!!
  7:59pm CC:

somebody said I learned more from a three-minute record baby than I ever learned in school???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm DJ GeorgyGirl:

@CC - that sounds very familiar. That's gonna bug me now. lol
Avatar 7:59pm StringOFperils:

This show is way too short. Especially if you're attempting to cook dinner at the same time. O_O
  8:00pm CC:

no surrender
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

  8:01pm Martinibomb:

Cya next week!
Avatar 8:01pm Mr Fab:

Thx muchly!!
Avatar 8:01pm StringOFperils:

Merci buckets
Avatar 8:02pm spacebrother:

Thanks DJ ARB, GG, Otis, Fabby, GST, MB, SOP, and Linda!
