Queems, Ha! I like that, but no need to water the plants in sunny Southern California, it's the wettest Spring we've had in years. Keep that mellow vibe happening Olivia.

A beautiful sunny day here on the isthmus.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Handy Haversack:

I have been enjoying how the rain keeps people off the sidewalk in front my building -- and presumably around the city as well.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm common:

sun is coming your way, olivia
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Mr. Pumpy:

Hey Handy...it goes. Not too bad. Went looking at a TV at one of the big box stores pops sends me to for supplies. Had to wait a good half hour to get in...blah blah blah. Anyhow, due to his post-stroke vision problems I need to procure a behemoth of a TV so he can see it better. Went with the tape measure...it will fit where I want it, but I can't get it in my Civic to get it home. That's the next obstacle. There are obviously bigger problems, but I'm trying to make it as pleasant as possible while he is stuck inside here. Sorry...long answer! How are you doing, my friend?
Avatar 4:33pm Marcel M:

hello
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Mr. Pumpy:

hey Marcel
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm Handy Haversack:

The Civic proves uncivil!

Worked way too hard and hit a wall. I kind of wish it was still raining. I like the soundscape of it on my block. And it's a soothing excuse for not feeling bad about not getting out and doing anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm chresti:

Glorious, that's awesome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm brainiac:

"Rainwater" is a happy little rain song. Definitely in no way conducive to ritual seppuku.
Avatar 4:45pm βrian:

Seppuku just isn't sustainable, anyway.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm Carmichael:

Heya Brainiac. How's the isolation coming along?
Avatar 4:49pm Franinator87:

Rainwater was very fitting for the day
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm chresti:

I missed part of the show waiting for the aaa guy to come and jump start my car, haven't been driving it much lately. Apparently a lot of batteries are dying due to lack of driving.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Mr. Pumpy:

Handy...I couldn't agree more about the rain. I happen to love it. Last night around 2AM, I opened up the garage and put a lawn chair at the end and just watched the rain and felt some splashback on my dogs. The kind of splashback I don't mind, I might add. Anyhow...a little puff-n-sip out there last night, and it was a beautiful moment. It looks like we may get another showering or two between now and 8ish...here and in GP.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm brainiac:

Hey Carm, it's going great. Today is so nice we've got the windows open so when a door slams I can blame it on the wind.

Howzzit goin wit chu?
Avatar 4:51pm Glorious Estephonic:

Hi Chresti ! life is super surreal . good luck with your car.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Mr. Pumpy:

chresti...glad to hear you are up and running. That reminds me to take my old man's car for a spin soon. I already had to replace one battery.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm Carmichael:

Been working like a dog's dog, 6 days a week. We'll have to meet up for a drive-by porch shot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm brainiac:

Sounds good! I've been practicing my aim.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm ParUbi:

The parakeets really like this droney one
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Mr. Pumpy:

@chresti...his car seems to be quite susceptible to dying batteries due to inactivety. Funny thing is I left my old 1996 Civic here at his place for over 6 minths once when I went for a long walk in the woods, and when I finally came back...started right up! Even I was surprised. I wouldn't count on my newer Civic to pull that off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Hi, Olivia and Raviolates. Morning Man Clay Pigeon mentioned that Adriene is looking for recordings of people breathing for her next show. Send recordings to tourism _at_ wfmu _dot_ org.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:57pm ParUbi:

Does the brand of batteries make a difference? I'm sure older batteries have this problem, of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Handy Haversack:

We have been starting ours once a week -- but we got the sweet sweet parking spot right in front of our bldg.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Carmichael:

@brainiac, kinda like the egg toss game, except with Jameson.
  5:02pm stalvey:

Olivia, excess sunlight wears the optic nerves out. So there is that. Yay gray.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm chresti:

Mine is a 2008, the car has a quirk where the power windows are always on thus constantly draining the battery, I'm wondering if pulling the window fuse might help.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm listener 126464:

sunlight spotted in monmouth county
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Handy Haversack:

Power windows really were the beginning of the end for cars!

@chresti, my knowledge is limited, but I certainly think pulling that fuse would take care of the problem when the car is just sitting around.
Avatar 5:07pm ranjit:

no sun in Kings County yet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:08pm Carmichael:

Are you in Fresno, ranjit?
Avatar 5:09pm ranjit:

Nope, one of the other Kings Counties! (Brooklyn.)
Avatar 5:10pm JakeGould:

They should just call Brooklyn “Kings” as long as there is a Queens.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10pm Carmichael:

Ha ha, guess there is more than one ...
Avatar 5:11pm JakeGould:

I went to Lincoln H.S.… Then I learned there was more than one Lincoln H.S. and my mind was blown.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm chresti:

Thanks Handy! Now, where is that fuse...
Avatar 5:16pm ranjit:

I always mix up JG Thirlwell and Thurston Moore, i think it's because of the thrs in thr names.

(Also I've never seen either one perform, but I used to see Thirlwell in the audience at all the hippest shows I went to, but I had no idea who he was, and then I forgot his name and thought it was Thurston Moore that I'd been seeing at all the shows.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Par...my dad has a Lexus and it has had this problem since he had it. He would go to Florida for a couple of months and if I didn't come over and start it at least once a week there was a chance it would die. Now that he isn't driving, I have to do the same; to the point of if I slip into the second week too far it could be a problem. I've read of people with the same make and model having similar problems. The last battery was about 4 years old, so I'm hoping if that happens now I can just jump it and it wont, be totally dead.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My first day of school, I rode the bus in. At the end of the day, there were a dozen buses lined up. No one told me to note which bus I rode in on. In my mind, it was "the bus." They figured out that I was supposed to be on Bus 9 so I was OK after that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm Mr. Pumpy:

@chresti...my dad has a 2007 Lexus I believe, and there is a similar problem where something is a constant power drain. I need to look more into it eventually. I'll add it to the list!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18pm Mr. Pumpy:

I've been working on the computer and not paying too much attention, but this track totally kills! Loving it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:20pm Mr. Pumpy:

@chresti...I may just pull the leads off the terminals in my pop's car. It only takes a minute and I wouldn't have to start it up but once a month or so. OR...I could roll around in style. I dig my Honda though...
Avatar 5:24pm JakeGould:

This Thurston Moore track is something I support.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm karlward:

That was the Thurston Howl part of the song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Jake...yeah! It's really doing it for me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:26pm Mr. Pumpy:

@karl...ha! aristocratic underbite
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm steveo:

Good afternoon! Great show today! Love this track:

"“8 Spring Street” is named for the former address of Moore's mentor and spirit guide into avant-underworld, the composer Glenn Branca."
  5:28pm ignatatus666:

This song is so damn good!!
Avatar 5:31pm TDK60:

Hello Olivia. Just back from moppin' the castle.
  5:32pm William Main:

@steveo: Glenn Branca deserves more air time on WFMU.
  5:33pm Marlboro_Dan:

You're programming is keeping me away from the "national" programming !!!!!!!!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:33pm Carmichael:

@Mr. Pumpy: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Brian in New Orleans:

OMFG this show is so great today.....as usual
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Mr. Pumpy:

@steveo...good bit of trivia. Branca is the man. I read a great interview with Lee Ranaldo from this past year. He talks at length about moving to NYC and being part of Branca's Ascension band. there is so much in it. I could read up on that all day.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:35pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Carmichael...thanks!
  5:35pm William Main:

I think Thurston Moore plays on Glenn Branca's The Ascension.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Olivia, thanks...that Thurston Moore was mind expanding. Right up my proverbial alley. Actual alley even!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm olivia:

here's nate k's show from november if you wanna listen to it! great convo wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm olivia:

thanks everybody for being here today!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm steveo:

I should have waited for Olivia to tell us. she had some great details.

Wm.: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Mr. Pumpy:

I think Lee Ranaldo is the only Sonic Youth fella on it, but Moore was in Branca's band as well. Perhaps on a live release of that stuff.
Avatar 5:40pm TDK60:

I have a Branca symphony on cassette somewhere in this cave. I recall a photo of his band (incl. L.R. & T.M.) playing guitars on tables w/mallets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:44pm ParUbi:

The musician from Noveller was in that 100 guitar project IIRC
Avatar 5:44pm JakeGould:

Olivia! The sun is coming out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm olivia:

Avatar 5:45pm JakeGould:

At least over Kings.

  5:45pm tino:

  5:48pm William Main:

I was at the Glenn Branca performance that was eventually released in 1992 as Symphony No. 2 (The Peak of the Sacred).
Avatar 5:49pm TDK60:

William: that may be the album I have, lookin' round here for it...
Avatar 5:49pm ranjit:

Yes! Sunshine here in Not-Fresno Kings County!
Avatar 5:50pm ranjit:

Thanks for the sun, βrian!
  5:52pm JakeGould:

@WilliamMain: Very cool!
  5:52pm William Main:

@TDK60: If I remember correctly the Branca performance was at St. Marks Church sometime in the mid-80s. Zev was featured on percussion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Still steady rain in this sector, up north from the station. The winds have died down, anyway. Thanks for the program today, Olivia. Good luck on your skeleton missions. I trust the roof isn't leaking there?
