Hi. I was listening to 60s airline muzak but miss you all. Hiyaa.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Otis Fodder:

Hi Viv, 60s airline music sounds UPlifting!
Avatar 11:09am Archivist Vivian:

Oh, it's amazing. I'll send it later. In other news. I REALLY waht that prune whip. Call me crazy. It looks divine.
Avatar 11:10am Sonderangebot:

Whip it good, make it a creamy day, everyone. Yum.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Otis Fodder:

Recent recipes posted, from Watermelon Pickle to Prune Whip, I want. There is just one.. the Bananas and Ham and Hollandaise... I might regret.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11am Otis Fodder:

Hi Sonderangebot. And Rich, how's that Prunelua!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Rich in Washington:

I'm picturing all those recipe cards in an avocado green plastic file box.
Avatar 11:18am Martinibomb:

WUZ UP Y'Aaaaallll haha
Avatar 11:19am Martinibomb:

I went to the FMu all station Zoom last night with all of the Djays on it. hahah
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am chresti:

Morning Otis and friendly people!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Otis Fodder:

The box is cherry racer red and is a full set from the 70s, Canada edition, oh yea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19am Otis Fodder:

Hi MB! Hi Chresti!
Avatar 11:20am Martinibomb:

biggest zoom meeting I've been to yet
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Webhamster Henry:

Hoping for some Pruney Goodness today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Otis Fodder:

MB - I bet, wanted to attend but work has been a bit nuts this week.
Avatar 11:21am Archivist Vivian:

Zoom. Aha. It's bleh. I miss people in person.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:21am Webhamster Henry:

Ideally, you'd run some of Stan Freberg's Prune commercials.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22am Webhamster Henry:

I actually was thinking of opening up a zoom meeting for us chat board people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Otis Fodder:

Lined up on the 3rd Turntable today 'Get Off' (the first one from 1973) DRUG PSAs to start/stop in-between cuts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Webhamster Henry:

Is that one of those PSA discs with cue grooves on it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am Otis Fodder:

Plays all the way through, super easy to start/stop. Playing Side B now, www.discogs.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am chresti:

Drug PSAs are the best, sometimes it doesn't sound like they mean it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30am Webhamster Henry:

I have some good stuff from an NBC White Paper on drugs TV special with a theme song featuring Jake Holmes.
Avatar 11:32am Archivist Vivian:

Positively Pregnant sounds like a private press album of pregnant singers from the 70s.
Avatar 11:34am fred:

Hello Otis and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Otis Fodder:

hi hi fred
Avatar 11:39am Franco Twinkie:

Someone get John a Prune Whip!
Avatar 11:40am fred:

That recipe would be tough to follow here. Milk and eggs are hard to find. I'd usually use Guinness as a substitute for anything, but it's rare too, so I'm using my dwindling supply in a conventional way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Otis Fodder:

hiiii franco
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:43am Kat in Chicago:

Whipped prunes and other delights!
Avatar 11:43am Martinibomb:

Hahaha Puuurfect!
Avatar 11:47am fred:

This song reminds me of a show on another stream...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am Kat in Chicago:

If I wasn't on my employer's dime right now, I'd collage some art to go with that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Kat in Chicago:

Trips in our mind might be all we get to take for a while, I guess...
Avatar 11:51am Franco Twinkie:

The sound track for The Trip is on Sidewalk Records, if that tells you where their head was at.
Avatar 11:53am Franco Twinkie:

The Happy Baloon!?!
Avatar 11:55am Little Danny:

Hi Otis 'n' all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am Otis Fodder:

Another Happy Balloon... but the original is fantastic as well!!

Oh yes, The Trip too Franco!

Hi Danny!!!
Avatar 11:58am Franco Twinkie:

Danny, how are you today? It's only 9AM here and I'm already feeling kind of nuts.
Avatar 11:58am Little Danny:

I could go ten kinds of crazy on prune whip right now. My mama made it, I love it.
Avatar 11:59am Little Danny:

@Franco: OMGGG I was just watching scenes from The Trip last night! Shows you where MY head is at.

We're doin' fine here. We're indoor cats so no big deal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Otis Fodder:

Danny, I want to make it. Picked up a whole complete box of 70s recipe cards and I'd say 80% I'm down to entertain with one sunny day in the future... or just for me while the cat watches me scarf it down watching movies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Kat in Chicago:

*waves*
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm chresti:

So, MB, does everyone talk at once on the Zoom meeting?
Avatar 12:03pm Archivist Vivian:

I love these old drug PSAs. They're fun.
Avatar 12:03pm Little Danny:

*does what Kat in Chicago does*
Avatar 12:04pm Little Danny:

@AV: Me too. They had opposite the intended effect on me as a yute.
Avatar 12:04pm Archivist Vivian:

Otis, I have stuff you could play as a suggestion.
Avatar 12:06pm Franco Twinkie:

Danny, one of my favorite scenes in The Trip is when Bruce Dern is pointing to a transmission tower and says to Peter Fonda who is blazing to beat the band "See that Tower? that's channel 13." and Peter is totally "Oh wow, man!"
  12:06pm Ehooo:

Just keep it kid friendly buddy
  12:06pm spacebrother:

Belief in yourself... and country music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm melinda:

Hi Otis and friends!
  12:07pm Ehooo:

Or give us a warning if we need to censor :)
Avatar 12:07pm fred:

@chresti: I should get my first zoom meeting tomorrow. I should make sure I have as much distracting WFMU stuff as possible in the background. But I'm too lazy
Avatar 12:07pm spacebrother:

Hello Otis and DJs and listeners!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:07pm Otis Fodder:

Hi Ehooo and Spacebrother and Melinda and Kat!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08pm melinda:

My mom made peach whip, I think.
Avatar 12:08pm Little Danny:

@Franco: There are some legitimately hilarious and freaky moments in The Trip. Holds together, if barely, but much better than other period exploitation fare
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm Rich in Washington:

Goddamn Einstürzende Neubauten cancelled their US tour in the Fall. I had tickets and everything. Fuck 2020.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm melinda:

@Henry is Zoom safe?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10pm Otis Fodder:

Oh damn Rich. I was going to go later this year in Montreal. Sadness, as I have NEVER caught them live. Maybe one day.
Avatar 12:11pm spacebrother:

I think I hear Otis singing on this track.
Avatar 12:12pm Franco Twinkie:

Like when Peter is been pursued by the druids on horseback and Flash Bang Pow by the Electric Flag is the panic music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Kat in Chicago:

Oh cool, there's snow flying through the air outside. Weather has been vacillating between 60s and 30s for a while now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:12pm Kat in Chicago:

I love the drug PSAs!
Avatar 12:12pm Archivist Vivian:

Ringo talks about drugs while probably high on LSD. Oh the Irony.
Avatar 12:13pm spacebrother:

Use the non-dangerous drugs. Ask Ringo which ones those might be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Rich in Washington:

That Ringo one was great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm melinda:

No one talks about skag anymore.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm Rich in Washington:

Yeaaahhh...
I'm gonna say Sha Na NOT!
Avatar 12:15pm fred:

I've never seen Einstürzende Neubauten either. Though I once saw Blixa Bargeld singing in a dance show. What's weird is that their shows are very expensive in France, but reasonable in Belgium. The difference is so big it easily covers the price of going from Paris to Brussels and back by bus
Avatar 12:15pm Little Danny:

You sound disappointed, Melinda.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm melinda:

@LD heehee. I just like old slang.
Avatar 12:17pm Little Danny:

Cherry Wainer is looking especially Keely Smith.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm Rich in Washington:

The Neubauten show sold out very quickly in Portland. I was fortunate to have scored tickets. I was really, REALLy looking forward to this show. I've never seen them live. I don't think they've ever appeared in Portland before.
Avatar 12:17pm Little Danny:

@Melinda: Me too! Especially hippie, surf, and jazzbo slang.
Avatar 12:18pm spacebrother:

I LOVE Griz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm Otis Fodder:

I love old slang too. Hope this music 'takes the egg'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Otis Fodder:

Ha, meeee too SB!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Rich in Washington:

Oh. This is wonderfully awful!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm melinda:

@Otis it does
Avatar 12:20pm Little Danny:

Haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm Rich in Washington:

Schwa Band?
Avatar 12:20pm Little Danny:

Blowing my wig over here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm melinda:

@LD yes! I'm fond of gnarly. I was on a surf movie kick several years ago and it was fun to hear geezers using it.
Avatar 12:21pm Sonderangebot:

I am lucky to have seen EN as a barely legal adult back in the 90s
Avatar 12:25pm StringOFperils:

ha ha...great LP cover. Corpse on the cover is always a draw.
Avatar 12:27pm fred:

I did see F.M. Einheit do a solo set though. At first it involved bricks. More like brick dust by then end
Avatar 12:28pm spacebrother:

That PSA will drive people TOWARDS drugs.
Avatar 12:28pm Sonderangebot:

Peas I want to be a vegetable!
Avatar 12:28pm Little Danny:

New PSAs warn kids off puns
Avatar 12:29pm Little Danny:

Cannot deal with puns in general but "peas" instead of "please" was weak OMG
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Kat in Chicago:

I was in a band of sorts (employees of the club I worked for) that opened for Neubauten in, hmm, 1986? 1987? We had a song about Blixa
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Otis Fodder:

Fun Kat, fun!
Avatar 12:32pm spacebrother:

Reminds me that I was going to do a "Miserlou Loves Company" show sometime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm melinda:

@spacebrother great idea!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32pm Kat in Chicago:

haha that's a good theme, spacebrother
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm melinda:

Bob Brainen did a marathon premium CD that includes an anti-drug PSA from Daffy Duck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm melinda:

Cool.
Avatar 12:37pm spacebrother:

I have that Daffy PSA! Mel Blanc did all the WB characters telling you about bad bad drugs.
Avatar 12:40pm spacebrother:

How did I miss Cherry Wainer going by?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Kat in Chicago:

bad bad dwugs! I think the Chicago weather is on those. Still random flakes flying through the air, but the sky is blue!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Kat in Chicago:

Save the hollandaise for eggs benedict! Or some broccoli, even.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm melinda:

I liked ambrosia salad too.
Avatar 12:46pm spacebrother:

I think the White Stripes did a cover of this song.
Avatar 12:46pm spacebrother:

youtu.be...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm Otis Fodder:

Oh yea? Cool SB! Thanks for the linkage.
Avatar 12:48pm Little Danny:

Loretta Lynn's story was easily a highlight of Ken Burns's country music doc
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm melinda:

@LD is that available online somewhere? I never watched it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50pm melinda:

Coal Miner's Daughter was a highlight of my childhood movie viewings.
Avatar 12:51pm spacebrother:

This is a great Big John cover/ parody!!
Avatar 12:52pm Little Danny:

@melinda: Probably through the PBS website? Dunno. I illegally downloaded it, I'm embarrassed to say.
Avatar 12:53pm spacebrother:

There's at least 3 or 4 other Big John covers/ parodies. Otis, you probably have them all.
Avatar 12:57pm Little Danny:

Love these deep-voiced men
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Otis Fodder:

I don't Spacebrother, but I can see you doing that set on your show!

Love the deep throats too. Oh wait, that came out wrong! Oof!
Avatar 1:01pm Little Danny:

They didn't really script out these PSAs ahead of time did they.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm chresti:

Avatar 1:06pm spacebrother:

Holy crap, I haven't heard this in YEARS!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm melinda:

@LD it costs $50 to stream, I don't blame you
