  7:03am Cooh John:

How many cassettes do you have, TDK60?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:05am BVP:

Music of Mind Control? hmm... ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:06am Jeffrey Davison:

I saw a concert in June 2013, at the Noguchi Museum in Astoria, with Anton Batagov and Yungchen Lhamo. I came away disappointed, but I can't recall exactly why. It wasn't a complete disappointment, but the setup at the museum wasn't great. Concert was in the garden, no seating so the lucky ones (like me) sitting for a long time on a stone wall. Many had to sit on the ground, and it was a hot day also with less shade out there than was needed. That didn't help.
Avatar 7:06am TDK60:

Cooh John, haven't recounted recently but only about 600 or 700 tapes here in the tower.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am Jeffrey Davison:

BVP: I don't think so, but nice try!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07am Jeffrey Davison:

paulincc: welcome, and thank you.

Davee: how many times have you been reincarnated?
Avatar 7:15am Davee:

Maybe that's it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17am Jeffrey Davison:

Davee: all kidding aside, this came out in 2001. Don't know when we got our copy at FMU (I don't think it was that long ago, but I will check) but a number of DJ played one or the other track from it over time.
Avatar 7:18am ken krimstein:

this is great stuff. i wonder how many times philip glass listened to it? oh -- and which of the earlier pieces was the one with the wind chimes? thanks for this wonderful music...i am sure i heard it back in the day, but can't remember where...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18am LynnsBrother:

I think I had a copy of this on mp3. And then the hard drive crashed and I lost it about 5 maybe years ago.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21am Jeffrey Davison:

First play from this album on FMU was 2012. Discogs says it was released 2001, so it took a long time to get to us! You're welcome, Davee. Ken: I think you're referring to the Go Hirano? I don't think any other pieces had chimes.

Ken: this specific piece of music or music with this kinda sound or vibe?
Avatar 7:32am TDK60:

Been following all the procedures. I usually only go out for midnight walks in order to avoid folks. Then I take maybe one weekly daytime walk for needed chores. I'm in NYC which is hard hit.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37am Jeffrey Davison:

dale, good morning. Ken: Melnyk is somewhat more visible than he was a decade ago. I'm hoping that he's making a living from his music. I'm guessing that he is.

Avatar 7:40am Fredericks:

Greetings, everyone. Jeffery, I saw Yungchen Lhamo performing with Peter Rowan. They did a beautiful song maybe called "I am calling you." I don't think it's been released, yet.

I did see a video where they performed it with Mandolin Orange.

  7:40am Cooh John:

Nice tinkling
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40am Jeffrey Davison:

testingwithfire: changes have to be brought about. The inequality across the world and even in rich countries (who have the means to create an equitable society) is so evident in light of the virus. It seems like, in many places, we have leaders who can't lead, and we must demand change. Lead where they can't or won't.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:41am Jeffrey Davison:

Fredericks, good morning, and thanks for the tip. I will look for it.
  7:42am testingwithfire:

@Fredericks my love for Peter Rowan will never die because of Walls of Time :-) I really do need to check out his other work, though.
Avatar 7:44am Fredericks:

Testing, Dharma Blues is a great one.
Avatar 7:45am Davee:

Jeff, will you be playing any John Prine?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:46am Jeffrey Davison:

Davee: I'm doing prerecorded shows, and limited to CDs. I can't hook my turntable up to my super basic setup and I don't have any Prine on CD, alas.
Avatar 7:46am Jon Etter:

Good morning Jeffrey and all the other Shrunken Planeteers out there!

Wonderful show, as always. Thanks for the tunes especially in these troubled times. Hope you, the rest of WFMU, and everybody tuning in is staying safe and healthy.
Avatar 7:49am TDK60:

I had a thought recently, that a screenwriter trying to come up with a movie script about a powerful nation with inept leaders couldn't come up with anything as bizarre and jaw-dropping as current reality.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49am Jeffrey Davison:

Jon, welcome, and thank you. As I said in the first mic break, I went through boxes of CDs and tried to pull out stuff I hadn't played in awhile, or forgot that I had...

Getting ready for my "early morning" grocery run. Chileans aren't early risers on weekends so it's a good time to be the only customer in the store.
  7:55am ?:

Okay I really liked the Eureka piano piece from 2009, but I could not help notice it bore a striking resemblance to an odd source: Roxy Music's 2HB off their first album. Play it sometime and you might see what I mean-- the Eureka really does sound like theme and variations off that sweet little ditty about Humphrey Bogart.
Not speaking here against the Eureka-- not one bit. There are a lot of good ideas in the universe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:56am Jeffrey Davison:

?: huh, I will check...intriguing, if there is a direct connection, and even so if it's accidental. Thanks.

  8:12am Lucky:

Hello, Jeffrey! Congrats on getting to this place with the world of remote DJing. It is all very finicky, with too many variables, and way too much info to sort through to find what one needs to move forward. Also, it contradicts itself at times. We've been thinking of you!

Hey TDK60!
  8:24am LiXiviated Life:

So... I read in the Times today that the British are burning cell towers because of a fear that Covid19 is being spread by 5G.
Dear British listeners,
Is this true?
And if so,
How was it you guys ever had an empire?
Avatar 8:25am Lixiviated Life:

I mean... honestly
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am Jeffrey Davison:

How is it that Nonesuch couldn't at least title this CD as Symphony No. 2 and Other Works, since there is another major piece on here...cripes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26am fred:

What is 5g anyway? What was wrong with 4g?
Swag For Life Member 8:32am 12539:

Silly Brits. Don't they know it's windmills that are causing cancer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:35am Jeffrey Davison:

Toothgrinder Tom: I'll be durned if I know, but last year I had a table at a record fair in Queens, and the dealer next to me was very up on 5G, and was letting me know in detail how it was going to be used for surveillance. Sounded scary but I have no idea how much was true and how much was sourced reliably. As we now know, our privacy has been severely compromised, and not sure we can get the genie back in the bottle. However, the virus and 5G, come on now, people, use at least some of your sense!
Avatar 8:36am Lixiviated Life:
