Good morning! Having my bowl of Quaker Otis for audio breakfast.
Avatar 11:08am Domenic:

2016. Pretty recent Suzanne Ciani.. She has been around a long time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09am Otis:

Morning Malcolm & Fab & Domenic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:10am Otis:

Had the pleasure of catching Suzanne and Kaitlyn performing this song/set/album in Montreal 3 years back. On 2 Buchlas!
Avatar 11:18am Sonderangebot:

Good morning everyone. Just having my food coloring breakfast now. Have to make the best of these strange times.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20am Otis:

Red and Yellow food coloring for all listeners. Hi Sonderangbot!
Avatar 11:22am Martinibomb:

Gooooood Morning! Gawd I actually slept in. Feels great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am Otis:

Mornin' Martini!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Kat in Chicago:

Bonjour-hi! Otis, I'm jealous that you saw Sunergy played live. I did see Suzanne Ciani in NYC in 2016, almost by accident!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26am Kat in Chicago:

I had Lucky Charms for breakfast (don't judge, I don't make a habit of it) so I expect I ingested some red and yellow food coloring by way of that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am Otis:

Hi Kat... I still don't understand why the apple balls are "cooking mexican style" + the raisin on top is confounding.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Rich in Washington:

Hi Otis! Hi everybody!
Avatar 11:30am Martinibomb:

Yeah she rules in Emergency so crazy that's her husband and her ex-husband on that lol
Avatar 11:32am Sonderangebot:

The Internet tells me that this recipe may be something they call 'Cocadas'.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am Kat in Chicago:

I forgot she was on Emergency and I am not sure I ever knew that detail, Martinibomb! Emergency was around the time I mostly quit watching TV as a teen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:34am Kat in Chicago:

I remember those little McCormick glass bottles, and the squeeze plastic ones with the pointy tops too. Do they still make those?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:36am Otis:

Ha, I knew Martinibomb would know Emergency. Right when I said it, I thought BOMB!
Avatar 11:41am Malcolm:

hey otis. I'm liking the synth pop. were you talking about the recent ace compilation of provincial british synth pop?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:44am Otis:

Oh, I don't know the Ace comp Malcolm. The one I played is from the Cherry Red comp. So many good post-punk to minimal and synth wave reissues out, it's mind (good) staggering. Please share.
Avatar 11:46am Malcolm:

the cherry red one looks great
Avatar 11:47am Malcolm:

www.roughtrade.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49am Otis:

Ooooh, more Bob Stanley curated material. Did not know about this one, thanks Malcolm!!
Avatar 11:52am Domenic:

Remember watching Emergency a bit when it was on Network TV. I kind of got away from all those TV shows. Her husband Bobby Troup was on there too. The girls at home right now love 9-1-1 the TV show.. They keep on finding imaginative disaster scenarios.
Avatar 11:52am Martinibomb:

I never saw those shows like Emergency. I've been watching the reruns. Yeh she was married to Bobby Troup the guy who played Joe Early and wrote the song Route 66. She was also married to Jack Webb before that.
Avatar 11:53am Mr Fab:

I also loved “Emergency.” Nurse Dixie McCall was an early crush. I didnt know about Julie London’s music career yet. I was, like, seven.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am chresti:

Hi Otis and Persuaders!
Avatar 11:56am Malcolm:

hey chresti!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57am chresti:

Hi Malcolm!
Avatar 12:01pm Martinibomb:

A new DJ is asking me right now if it's okay to cross fade songs or should they go and make it so the song ends and then another begins. LoL
Avatar 12:02pm Mr Fab:

Tell him to play all the songs at the same time.
Avatar 12:03pm Martinibomb:

Hah!!
Avatar 12:03pm Domenic:

Want to hear a story before I leave for lunch? This old swing/big band Dj retired a few years ago due to ill heath. Play Julie and Bobby Troup a lot. Once after he played Bobby he said on-air "And that's Bobby Troup who seen Julie London naked"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:03pm Otis:

That is the correct answer. Thank you Fab!
Avatar 12:03pm Martinibomb:

They were really worried that other songs were coming in a little bit over the song playing before it.
Avatar 12:04pm Martinibomb:

like concerned.. should I redo this mix? Is it all screwed up? hahah I'm like no it's fine in fact this is better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:04pm Otis:

Fantastic Domenic. Have a nice lunch and nice to see you today!
Avatar 12:05pm Martinibomb:

@Dom that's a good story!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:09pm chresti:

Ha Domenic!
Avatar 12:13pm Mr Fab:

Considering some of her album covers, we all practically have, too!
Avatar 12:16pm Listening Out There:

Take the Trip! > Buy the ticket, take the ride...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17pm chresti:

When seeing people naked was a big deal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm Otis:

Hi chresti and LOT! Taking the trip, taking the trip... ticket in hand.
Avatar 12:24pm Martinibomb:

@otis I got that lil' sampler had it for a few weeks now it's great. Literally a tiny Ableton in a box. Even uses ALS files so u can drag/drop into ableton
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm Otis:

Sounds sweet MB!
Avatar 12:30pm Listening Out There:

[Gyrating at desk...]
  12:31pm Ehooo:

Heavy sample around 12:21, gonna grab it later!
  12:31pm Ehooo:

"I'm feeling a bit funky right now"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm Otis:

Hey Hey Ehooo, samples 4 U!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm melinda:

Hi Otis and friends!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm Otis:

Hi melinda, welcome to the euro soundtrack party!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm Kat in Chicago:

What sampler, Martinibomb? Just curious in case I start to mess with some of this stuff myself.
Avatar 12:58pm Martinibomb:

@Kat the 1010 Black Box. I've got Otis running thru it now. already made a little track from the songs he's played
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm Otis:

You do, you are... cool MB!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm melinda:

Today I'm going to do errands with a coffee filter mask and I'm feeling sheepish, as it is the pointy kind of filter and will look ridiculous.
Avatar 1:01pm Martinibomb:

yup got my phone all plugged into it at the coffee table/battery powered hanging with my cat in my lap
Avatar 1:02pm Martinibomb:

@Melinda maybe you can paint it - be creative?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm chresti:

As long as it stays on, it's good. I use a scarf, wash it when I get home @melinda
Avatar 1:03pm Martinibomb:

it's just weird times we are in where you have to wear a coffee filter over your face while you shop for vegetables. Very Terry Gilliam or something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm melinda:

@Martini I'm not ready to embrace ridiculous yet and go all out. Ideally the mask would look home-made so no one thinks I'm a mask-hoarder, but not snout-like. There are a ton of DIY mask videos but my home craft supplies are very limited, I don't even have a working stapler or I would go the paper-towel route.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Otis:

I ran errands super early this AM. Grocery at 8:30am and slightly dead. Was nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm melinda:

Agree it's def weird times! and Gilliam.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm chresti:

At least we've got gloves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm melinda:

Digging the easy vibe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm chresti:

I was looking at the LA county covid count, 6 cases in San Gabriel so far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm Otis:

Me too Melinda... feeling the mood, grabbing songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm chresti:

Yes,.. digging the sounds
Avatar 1:12pm Franco Twinkie:

Feelin' kinda wistful, Otis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm Otis:

...and wishful Franco, hello!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm Kat in Chicago:

melinda, do what you gotta do and don't worry how you look. Maybe you could secure it with a scarf? I pulled a bunch of suitable materials from my neglected sewing stash and after washing in hot water with a lil bleach, will be making masks for donation this weekend as per directions on masksnow.org (I may end up giving them to friends tho)
Avatar 1:21pm Franco Twinkie:

Those Mexican Coco Balls look like just the thing to tackle on this last day of March. This morning I was looking for yeast at the store - MIA, along with the toilet paper.
Avatar 1:23pm Mr Fab:

Johnny Rivers looks so bad-ass on that cover. I wonder how many kids bought that album expecting some heavy acid-rock occult fuzz-fest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm melinda:

@Kat I think the rubber band ear pieces will secure it ok, it will just look pointy and silly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm Kat in Chicago:

Ooh, I would have gone to hear Herb Alpert and Lani Hall! I was sooo into Brasil '66 as a kid.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

greetings, Otis and folx!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Rich in Washington:

Hi Granny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:01pm Otis:

Hi Granny!!
Avatar 2:01pm Domenic:

So am back....playing all those nudie rekkids while you can huh Otis (LOL)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm Otis:

Until they make me stop Dom. Haaaa.
Avatar 2:05pm Domenic:

Well your Canadian..and that's practically European. (smile) so its OK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

yay for rescue critters! a friend of mine adopted two rescue mules!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Big City Orchestra! I dig them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Dos and i exchanged zines and cassettes and stuff, too. A friend of mine was in BCO for awhile. I love their advertisements album!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm chresti:

Me too-BCO!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm Otis:

Ah, that's fantastic Granny! They are gems I tell ya, gems!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Tomorrow is Saint Stupid's Day and it's going to be weird not to do the annual parade. Stupid, even!!!
Avatar 2:25pm Mr Fab:

Mi mucho gusto this. Perez Prado had a twist album and I don’t own it?! Ay, caramba!
Avatar 2:30pm Mr Fab:

I wonder if Indian audiences recognized the tune and were as amused by thqt was we are, or the Beatles hadn't quite invaded India yet and audiences thought this was an original song?
Avatar 2:30pm Domenic:

The random nature of record collecting. Found that Perez Prado Twist LP years og... Digging the Beatles. They ruined everything!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

i can't stand that this show is almost over and there won't be another SJR hangout til tomorrow! Thanks for the fun tunes, Otis. Look out for a postcard real soon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Otis:

Thanks so much Granny! Can't wait. Post coming your way tooooo. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Rich in Washington:

I like Steely Dan and I refuse to apologize for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00pm Otis:

Steely Dan can do no wrong (in my book). I find it's either folks love em or hate em, no in-between. Got lotsa love here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Otis:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm chresti:
