Hey Kris

Hi Kris.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:02pm Matt from New Orleans:

That’s so weird I swapped out this Dave photo months ago.
Avatar 10:03pm Kris Holmes:

Hi guys, yeah, it's acting funky tonight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:06pm Matt from New Orleans:

Manu Dibango was one of my faves. Most of his work is unknown in this country. I was lucky enough to get vinyl rips in FLAC of twenty to thirty of his albums that never got CD releases and still aren’t on streaming services.
Avatar 10:07pm Kris Holmes:

Yes he was great, such a sad loss & agreed Soul Makossa was just a tip of an iceberg
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08pm Matt from New Orleans:

He was prolific
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09pm Uncle Michael:

We really are going the long way tonight.
Avatar 10:09pm Kris Holmes:

All the way
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12pm Matt from New Orleans:

I first heard this on the Luv n Haight comp for the label
Avatar 10:14pm Kris Holmes:

Not sure I ever had that comp
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Matt from New Orleans:

It was good. Bunch of unreleased stuff from Inner City.
Avatar 10:17pm Kris Holmes:

nice, i don't know much about the label itself
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm Matt from New Orleans:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm Matt from New Orleans:

Nor shredded tshirts
Avatar 10:27pm Kris Holmes:

oh, i think i still have that comp filed, it's good!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:27pm Matt from New Orleans:

I was wondering when the sax break would hit

Avatar 10:29pm Kris Holmes:

Hi Chresti
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Matt from New Orleans:

Hi Chresti and to you as well Michael, m apologies.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Matt from New Orleans:

Kris are you going to have to try to teach music to disinterested students over the internet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Matt from New Orleans:

Hi Jason
Avatar 10:35pm Kris Holmes:

Yessir, rolling it out this week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Matt from New Orleans:

Marvin Berry
Avatar 10:42pm Kris Holmes:

ha, that's right, "it's your cousin, Marvin....."
Avatar 10:47pm Franco Twinkie:

Man! I feel like I'm at the drive in theater!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm Matt from New Orleans:

Such a great song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm JtotheK:

Hearing the Timebox 'Beggin' 45 spun out at a Get Down was pretty nifty.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm Uncle Michael:

Timebox still gets my nod.
Avatar 10:49pm Kris Holmes:

A clean copy sounds incredible over a huge system
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm Uncle Michael:

Bob Gaudio, genius though.
Avatar 10:51pm Kris Holmes:

I haven't played the Timebox 45 in ages, I always am finding 4 Seasons 45s & just play them for a while before onselling
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm chresti:

They don`t sound like bubble puppies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm JtotheK:

Yeah I've found a couple copies of the 4 Seasons, never come across the Timebox 45.
Avatar 10:54pm still b/p:

I like to imagine the look on my dad's face if he'd seen an image of Bubble Puppy and heard the name.
Avatar 10:58pm Franco Twinkie:

Can we be frank about how retarded some people in the United States are in the face of all this ? Never mind, let's trip out, man!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:00pm Matt from New Orleans:

Kris I really don’t want to vomit before I go to sleep
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm Uncle Michael:

Trust me, that's better than after.
Avatar 11:02pm Kris Holmes:

lol guys, yes, people are being ridiculous Franco, c'mon Matt, it's delicious & I agree with Michael hahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm doctorjazz:

Hi folks!
Avatar 11:04pm Franco Twinkie:

Rx Doc!
Avatar 11:04pm Kris Holmes:

Hi Doc
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:04pm Matt from New Orleans:

Hi Doc
  11:05pm Dean:

In the defense of the presently retarded, I have to interject that Americans have been ridiculous since, oh, the late 18th century or so. We've never had a monopoly on smarts.
  11:06pm Dean:

(That Desmond Dekker tune sounded like Spandau Ballet's "True.")
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07pm Matt from New Orleans:

So they weren’t always fabulous?
Avatar 11:08pm Kris Holmes:

Apparently not ha!
Avatar 11:08pm Franco Twinkie:

Dean, you and I are in total agreement. Unfortunately flattening of the curve is no where in sight.
  11:08pm Dean:

Oh, gosh, no! Always fabulous! (But so fucking stupid.)
Avatar 11:08pm still b/p:

(Insert one of many choice Mencken quotes here.)
  11:11pm Dean:

Ordinarily, I'm a fan of curves. This is just so disconcerting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm Matt from New Orleans:

Louie Vega did a great remix of Barely Breaking Even last year. Leroy Burgess still going strong. Released a new album.
Avatar 11:15pm Franco Twinkie:

Still b/p, I have to say, your dad might be right on the money regarding The Bubble Puppy. I can only imagine how your average Texan might have reacted in 1968 if those guys walked into the coffee shop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15pm JtotheK:

Quoting JtotheK from Doug 'Give The Drummer' show when this Timmy Thomas was spun: "I like this Timmy Thomas take on Sade."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16pm Matt from New Orleans:

Otis chewing on cables?
  11:17pm Dean:

My namesake broke in!
  11:17pm Dean:

I was in fact named after this guy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:18pm Matt from New Orleans:

Kris your internet is being janky
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:19pm chresti:

That`s great Dean.
  11:20pm Dean:

Frequent reversions to the stream: Dean Martin, Akana Man...
  11:21pm Dean:

Thanks, chresti. Point of pride. Also, my parents have a cocktail napkin from Dean's club on the Sunset Strip, signed by some other celeb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm JtotheK:

I enjoy the comments from Misa in the background. Excellent DJ duo chatter!
  11:23pm Dean:

Thanks again, Sir Tim Berners-Lee. Get it right once, will ya?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm chresti:

My middle name is after Ava Gardner. That napkin story is good, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23pm JtotheK:

Dean - that napkin story reminds me of a personal favorite Simpsons joke "That is a picture of Sean Connery signed by Roger Moore."
Avatar 11:24pm Kris Holmes:

Yeah not sure what's up with the internet, maybe everyone in the world is watching netflix?
  11:24pm Dean:

Maybe your parents and mine had drinks together at Dean's, chresti?
  11:25pm Dean:

Exactly, JtotheK. Definitely wasn't Dean.
Avatar 11:26pm Franco Twinkie:

Dean, what might your name been if your parents frequented Alan Hales Lobster Barrel on La Cienega, Skipper?
  11:27pm Dean:

Well, they almost named me Lawry.
Avatar 11:27pm Franco Twinkie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm chresti:

Haha, I think they only went out in Chicago, back then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Matt from New Orleans:

Have a great night guys
Avatar 11:29pm Franco Twinkie:

Avatar 11:29pm Kris Holmes:

Goodnight matt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm chresti:

Thanks Matt, you too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29pm JtotheK:

Cheers matt!
Avatar 11:32pm Franco Twinkie:

I have a found memory of the first time Chresti ever came to my apartment. She went straight for a shoe box full of 45's and pulled out Mother-In-Law.
Avatar 11:33pm Kris Holmes:

that's cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50pm WR:

Hi all y'all. Kris, when is that Hampton from? If that was the fusion sounding track. I was thinking it was Dreams or some other Brecker Bros. project.
Avatar 11:52pm Kris Holmes:

That was Hampton, it's a Chick Corea song, from the late 70s I think, the 45 is from 79, not sure when the recording is from though
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm chresti:

Thanks Kris! Take care everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm WR:

Thank you Kris, laters all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:57pm JtotheK:

thanks for the tunes, Kris. cheers everyone.
Avatar 11:57pm Kris Holmes:

Thank you WR
Avatar 11:57pm Kris Holmes:
