Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm David (in London):

@Mr Pumpy - Well, given that we are in Lockdown London at the moment, not too bad. My company is decentralised and tech-based, so working still feels normal. However, everything around that is completely out of whack. Still, I'm trying to get into 'the Blitz spirit' and keep cheerful. My best to your and you dad too.

@TDK60: Birdsongs of the Mesozoic - now there's a blast from the past.
  12:46pm P-90:

When FMU became available as a high quality digital stream over the webs, it was a real game-changer. I can listen anywhere, even on my phone via the app while shopping, walking on a beach, or whatever. Used to be, when traveling out of the area, knowing I wouldn’t be hearing Dave the Spazz or Jim Price or Nick the Bard was just a fact of life. Now I can go to Chicago and still listen to Jeffrey Davison while I’m brushing my teeth, or hear Clay’s show while sipping espresso beside a canal in Venice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm WoodsOfNH:

@TDK60 Saw Miller last summer with Trinary System. Pretty good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm David (in London):

@TDK - I saw Mission of Burma last about three years ago, and they were still absolutely awesome.
Avatar 12:46pm James in ATL:

Thanks for your positivity Meghan. Much needed today.
Avatar 12:46pm TDK60:

Yes, I think all the Drummer shows are at-home. Continental Subway emanates from Radio Blau in Leipzig. That may be the only other radio station with such a connection to WFMU. Not sure.

David in London: you saw M.O.B. 3 years back! Wasn't sure if they were still playing. They're one of the best.
Avatar 12:51pm rossum:

Hi @meghan (or anyone) - any lists you know of for the online stuff you mentioned - housebound concerts, etc?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Jeezy:

Oh I hear you @P90....
In the 90's, I was living in London and had a VCR hooked up to a radio tuner on a timer. I would record dozens of hours of FMU, then have my mom mail the tapes to London so I could listen. I still have some cassettes of Music to Spazz by, and the Hound and other shows from the 90s, though sadly the VCR tapes (8 hours each!) are long gone...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Meghan:

As for Drummer stream DJ's. I live local so I broadcast from the station. But a lot of them are all over the globe, so they broadcast from their homes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Social D:

All these bands I used to see when I was in college - hardly ever think about 'em anymore.
Avatar 12:52pm TDK60:

Wasn't Moving Targets a Boston band? Shared the stage with them once. They seemed influenced by Husker Du and MissionO.B. Loud chiming.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Handy Haversack:

I'm bouncing back and forth between streams like a ceramic ping-pong ball knee-deep in eggs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm David (in London):

@TDK - I say three, it could have been four even (will have to check my ticket stubs), but yes, they did a few dates here. In London they played this tiny, sweaty little tin box called the ElectroWerkz and it was just as such a gig should be. Roger played behind a perspex screen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm mariano:

@David IL: Yeah, FMU played some of the newer MOB stuff a few years back and I was really blown away by how good they still are. Same with Wire and Bob Mould.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm David (in London):

I lived in MA for 7-8 years and I think I must have seen about 2/3 of the bands on Megan's 2009 playlist. It's blowing my mind a little bit. I remember "Ed's Redeeming Qualities", saw them at a tiny place out in Jamaica Plain. Opening band was "Hell Toupee", one of those many bands whose songs aren't quite as good as their name :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Social D:

@Handy - I'm dealing with two guys named Cheech here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Meghan:

hahaha, I totally remember Hell Toupee! And you are so right about the name being better than the band! Middle East was always a great source for local acts. I love going through old Phoenix pages to see who played at what venue.
Avatar 1:16pm Woo:

Ed's Redeeming Qualities! I still have a couple of cassettes by them. The Breeders covered their Driving on 9. I was in an act that opened for them in Chicago once.
