Anyone with computer savvy have an idea what I should do? My Windows 10 PC, which has ripped hundreds of CDs, suddenly isn't recognizing them. I put in the disc, and get a message telling me there's no disc, I need to put one in the drive. Happens with multiple different CDs, ones that I've previously ripped. No clue what to do.

@doctorjazz: Before you spend money on a new CD/DVD drive, I just checked and there was a Windows 10 update today. And to my knowledge Windows 10 automatically patches itself? I would recommend rebooting and seeing if that helps. And if that doesn’t help then try reinstalling drivers. Here is the official Microsoft page on updates. Note that “18363.720” was today. docs.microsoft.com...

@doctorjazz. usually the PC based drives will read anything, and all that work is done by windows. If you can't find a second drive, you could try a USB based install of Linux to see if can be detected there.

I would recommend just reinstalling drivers. Is this a custom desktop, or an off the shelf model? A USB external drive can work and they are relatively cheap — $30 for a basic one — but if it’s a driver issue then even the USB drive might not help.
