Biscuits were originally middle English for unleavened bread. By the time us colonists started to cook in the 17th c (in the south), it was literally leaven dough to go w/ gravy (which, was any broth), while in the 18th c in Britain, it came to mean somewhat sugary unleavened bread.

This comments list is helping me reconstruct a strange event today. Last comment was 12:48 before I got undressed and into the shower. I was definitely dried off and back out by 1:17. A friend told me he was in the house calling to me during that interval. Bathroom door wasn't even closed. We neither saw nor heard each other. The interval of 12:48-1:17 is an overestimate of the time I was in there, because it took me a while to get undressed, and then a few to get back to the laptop.

i have a 4-track headcleaner cartridge still in the original packaging. don't know where it came from but i figure i won't even be able to give it away.
...maybe as a prop for a movie that takes place in the 50s...

Mary (and Nick) please forgive me and don't take it personally, as i've pledged to both your shows in the past; but i've had to reduce my swag4Life amount this year so cannot spread my donation around as freely as usual...and decided to pledge only to shows i've never pledged to before.
i'm sure some show hosts will be offended but this unfortunately is my situation now. (i shouldn't have given as much as i did last year in fact but once i made the commitment i wasn't about to back out.)

My friend said he left our friend's at 12:55, so he couldn't've gotten here before 1:05, but more likely 1:10. I do remember hearing a clunk as I turned off the water; that may have been his going out the back door, as he said he did, or closing his car door. I went out to get the mail, saw no sign of him. He may have been in the back yard yelling for me as I was getting dressed in a room that doesn't open on the back. Windows were all closed. Blinds were closed where I was dressing.

Hubig (@2.21...i'm working, got called away to actually do that for a minute!)
you mean a 4-track reel>reel? if it works i'd buy it, if i could. i pulled one from a junk pile once when i was a teenager but never got it working right.
(...or was it a 4-track cartridge player from an old car. that would be very interesting; and almost useless!)

usually it's 4 tracks in one direction which can be recorded to one at a time (reel-to-reel or cassette) but the precursor to 8-track cartridges was 4-track cartridges. same thing but mono.
