Hello Devon. I'm so bummed that I'll have to bail soon but I'd like to share a couple of thoughts with Stuart Sweezey. I can't wait to see this documentary. I wish I could go back in time to see all the shows he put on. It's super inspiring to me that Stuart put on shows in unique places, with unique sounds outside of the typical limiting bar/club/rental space. Thank you for doing what you did.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm ultradamno:

Any Haters/JGXL for the SRL connection?
Avatar 7:07pm dale:

  7:08pm ?:

Wow, Popul Vuh? 1988. I had surgery at Mass General in Boston, I'd wake up at 2 AM when the pain meds wore off and while I was waiting for my next shot, I'd listen to the MIT radio station and this song came on. Maybe it was the pain and meds but I thought it was incredible. I waited to hear the playlist, which was quite long, and thought it was Dead Can Dance so when I came back to NY bought up all the Dead Can Dance I could find. I loved it but this song wasn't by them. It was years before I found it - or thought I did but right now I think I never did find it, this is the right one. Now that I know the name I can probably find it now. Very grateful. I must sound very strange.
Avatar 7:09pm edelkakao cha cha:

www.desolationcenter.com works of course, there was a typo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm Michael 98145:

duh. my bad.
Avatar 7:11pm dale:

? - soundtrack to heart of glass is similar and worth hearing.
Avatar 7:12pm edelkakao cha cha:

early neubauten! their live tapes from early 80s are manic to say the least,
Avatar 7:12pm edelkakao cha cha:

? - DCD is not exactly a bad gateway to popol vuh!
Avatar 7:13pm slugluv1313:

Avatar 7:18pm ToTetsu:

Sweat post-punk relief. My Office's Alexa is droning on something like "Hallelujah You were an angel in the shape of my mum."
Avatar 7:18pm edelkakao cha cha:

I really should get to know Savage Republic much better, I only have the second album (vinyl, not the remixed CD's), the song we just heard sounded so good!
  7:19pm Laura L:

Hi to Stuart from Laura L! See you tomorrow night at IFC.
  7:25pm The Oscar:

Busy doing dishes, but loving the show! I got to review the doc when it played Boston a while back, and definitely recommend it: https://bostonhassle.com/review-desolation-center-2019-dir-stuart-swezey/

@ultradamno: Damn you I was about to post about the “Hong Kong Café!”

“When Bill Hong said yes to the promoters, he was trying to be practical. He knew the restaurant needed more customers; maybe letting a few young bands play could help bring them in. He never could’ve foreseen that his family’s establishment, the Hong Kong Low—located on a small street called Gin Ling Way—would become a focal point for a seminal music scene: West Coast punk.”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm Michael 98145:

oh, geez! Saw X at the Hong Kong ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Michael 98145:

and a band i think was called Code Blue (?)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm Michael 98145:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm ultradamno:
