This is where all of culture and all of time are collapsed into one seductive portal and viewed through the panoramic lens of the exotic. Come and embark on an armchair-travel virtual-voyage to the heart of timeless darkness and beyond; embrace the numinous monolith of the exotic immensity. Let us find that place where hybridization meets its destiny as pure fantasy. Let us become observers observing those others who are ourselves. You wear your mask and I'll wear mine.

Hi Rev! exactly, theater of the mind
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Seriously these Arrangements...
Avatar 7:14pm Flash Strap:

Because St GDP often licensed from Deneb, among other Italian labels, there will be some small overlap with the prior Deneb special, but only for the really good bits. Mostly all-new, all-wild

Avatar 7:34pm Flash Strap:

HI LD! NGH!
Avatar 7:35pm Flash Strap:

I love this track
Avatar 7:35pm Little Danny:

Thanks as always for assembling these catalog runs of album covers, Evan. It's really satisfying to my OCD-ish mind to gaze upon them all put together like so.
Avatar 7:36pm Flash Strap:

my grrrreat pleasure LD! me too man, me too
Avatar 7:37pm Flash Strap:

truly, thank you for appreciating this
Avatar 7:37pm Little Danny:

Loved the sound of that lead stringed instrument that was being plucked.

This is incredible stuff, these past few tracks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm passiflora:

:)
Avatar 7:40pm Flash Strap:

@LD: i know, really exciting stuff imo & great guitar (?) technique
Avatar 7:41pm Flash Strap:

Aloha Passiflora!
Avatar 7:41pm Little Danny:

I'm downloading it as I speak, may have to purchase the LP
Avatar 7:42pm Flash Strap:

if you ever find vol. 4, which was only released on folkmusic label & deals in far east themes, let me know! dying to hear it
Avatar 7:42pm northguineahills:

doen't sound like any ancient Mesoamerican musics, but I dig!
Avatar 7:44pm Flash Strap:

@NGH: exactly, its pure exotica i think, but very unique-sounding & adventurous within that. there's definitely some more modern latin aspects of course but it's hard to detect anything pre-Columbian
Avatar 7:45pm Little Danny:

found vol. 4 on Soulseek, downloading and will send you a ZIP
Avatar 7:45pm geezerette:

I'll have the Sumac Salad with a side of Ixtabay, thanks...
Avatar 7:46pm Flash Strap:

Geezerette! exactly, exactly!
Avatar 7:47pm Flash Strap:

Damn, LD, that's a quick mitzvah. you're a king

Wow
Avatar 7:56pm Little Danny:

Ah, crud, you're playing tracks from what I thought was volume 4. Searching again now....
Avatar 7:58pm Flash Strap:

Vol. 4 may not be as cool, seems like Alessandroni isn;t even on it. Barigozzi is very good though: www.discogs.com...
Avatar 7:58pm Little Danny:

This is incredible music either way you're playing
Avatar 8:00pm Flash Strap:

i have to agree, i have no choice
Avatar 8:08pm coelacanth∅:

bonjour Flash et explorateurs exotiques
Avatar 8:08pm Flash Strap:

bonjour Coelacanth!
Avatar 8:10pm Flash Strap:

big tone shift!
Avatar 8:18pm Flash Strap:

not sure if this was even originally library music, Taranto's was a Spanish instrumental group but I don;t know much about the Guitarra label
Avatar 8:20pm Flash Strap:

some really solid, magic-in-the-mediterranean style instrumentals on this LP. not sure whether it had any prior release
Avatar 8:28pm Flash Strap:

Most of this LP was licensed from an Alessandroni LP of the same name on Sermi - probably the rest (such as this Filippi) came from Sermi as well
Avatar 8:28pm coelacanth∅:

it'll be okay if this changes, but the music thus far -since i tuned in- has been quite perfect for my dinner soundtrack. relaxing yet interesting.
Avatar 8:29pm Flash Strap:

yes, this came from a Sermi / SR LP called Nel Mondo Del Lavoro
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm chresti:

- chill agriculture...chresti do you have a copywrite on that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm chresti:

Haha coel.
Avatar 8:39pm coelacanth∅:

was walking around outside yesterday afternoon wearing jeans and a t-shirt (& boots...and underwear...but that's it!) and now it's freezing here again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm chresti:

Crazy, it's been up and down here, too, less extreme though. Not much rain
Avatar 8:46pm coelacanth∅:

so much rain. so much mold.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58pm chresti:

the mold here dries up and flies around
Avatar 8:59pm Flash Strap:

yuck i hate flying mold, keep it on the ground please
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04pm chresti:

It's nice now, still green. Slight chance of rain this weekend
Avatar 9:05pm Little Danny:

hard to tell with this music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm passiflora:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm WR:

I was hearing intermittent drops with scattered GTD blips. Oh, again, an ethno flute thing, silence, flute, some nature sounds, flute....
Avatar 9:22pm Flash Strap:

Yeah i'm having issues on my end, likely diue to this damn weather. i'm hoping i have it stable now
Avatar 9:22pm coelacanth∅:

has the piece or have the pieces silent drop-outs every few seconds, for several minutes now?
  9:24pm Doug Schulkind:

Yep. Your feed is cutting in and out, Flash.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24pm chresti:

It's a rocky ride
Avatar 9:24pm Flash Strap:

i'm getting major fritzing out here, doing my best to right the ship
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

been enjoying floating down this lovely stream of sounds. howdy, Flash and folx!
Avatar 9:26pm good news∅:

okay it's been i think about a minute since an interruption now
Avatar 9:27pm coelacanth∅:

(maybe i should remove the null symbol when i'm posting as "good news"!)
Avatar 9:27pm Flash Strap:

yeah sorry everyone, i'm blaming that on the snow. I'll try to upload an uninterrupted archive if you want to revisit that stuff
Avatar 9:30pm coelacanth∅:

i DO want to revisit! i'm working and missing so much and this whole set is fantastic!
...and i want to hear it via big speakers in my own home, instead of via 13"laptop speakers from the next room while aware of 2 people trying to sleep somewhere in the house...
Avatar 9:31pm Flash Strap:

can't believe that had to happen during Umiliani, damn it
  9:31pm Doug Schulkind:

Somehow I think Gene Hackman is starring in the movie this music is accompanying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31pm chresti:

Sounds steady.. It's a keeper
Avatar 9:32pm Flash Strap:

@Doug: 100%
Avatar 9:32pm coelacanth∅:

yeah i was digging that hard and when i finished the room i was working on came in sat down and that's right when i realised those gaps are not supposed to be there
Avatar 9:33pm Little Danny:

I feel yer pain, Evan, there's nothing quite like that scramble when you're trying to troubleshoot a bad connections whilst simultaneously doing the ten things you're already doing simply as a DJ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm WR:

As others report, the stream is steady now. The blips made for sounds other than you intended but it was interesting programming.
Avatar 9:34pm Flash Strap:

thanks for stickin' with me while i got thru that, explorers. truly intrepid you are
Avatar 9:34pm Little Danny:

Broadcast's music gave me a whole new appreciation for these drums/percussion + echo tracks from the world of library/production music.
Avatar 9:36pm Flash Strap:

@LD: I love that connection they make, and where they go with it. their drums are always so insanely good too
Avatar 9:36pm coelacanth∅:

haha i'm still not sure what was part of the piece and what was the Doug machine kicking in!
it was interesting yes; but the gaps of silence (which by far dominated) were frustrating as hell.
Avatar 9:37pm Flash Strap:

Le Cap is such a banger
Avatar 9:37pm Little Danny:

Indeed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm chresti:

lighting the fuse
Avatar 9:44pm Flash Strap:

so INTENSE
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm chresti:

..in a snake pit
Avatar 9:45pm Flash Strap:

haha yes
Avatar 9:48pm Flash Strap:

between 117 and 123 there appear to be no releases on St GDP; Midway is the final LP to my knowledge, though there was a brief run of 7" that I haven't heard
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm doctorjazz:
