Avatar 12:38pm still b/p:

Movie descriptions say the bomb was strapped to his chest. (Beer and jam strapped to chest....a better world.)
Shiver me trivias: Hell's Five Hours released to theaters in a pairing with "Macabre," a William Castle movie for which "admission included a $1000 insurance policy against "death by fright" issued by Lloyds of London."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm spodiodi:

nice, still b/p - thanks for sharing infos
Avatar 12:42pm Hubig Pie:

William Castle , a true American hero and an inspiration to John Waters
  12:45pm John from Florham park:

I would love to hear a DJ just talk For 3 hours and not play any music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm spodiodi:

until then we can celebrate with 7SD, Hearty White, and Techtonic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm spodiodi:

not the same, but beggardom and all
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

In the days of his Airborne Event show, Dan Bodah started talking on a mic break and proceeded to keep talking until the end of the program.
  12:50pm John from Florham park:

@KFHP that must have been before I listened to this station
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Michael 98145:

oh. Heather.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Rich in Washington:

I remember a DJ getting pissed off about something said on comments so they put the same song on repeat for the remainder of the show until the next DJ came on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm spodiodi:

that's great
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Julie:

talk for 3 hours? Sounds like Clay Pigeon to me!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm spodiodi:

not sure the talking over the music parts count ;) ;) i love Clay Pigeon, and ALL his talking, even over music
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:55pm spodiodi:

i made his Dusty show much more regularly -- sadly, Wake is too early for me. and the best is Fabio & Clay (been said many times by many peeps)
  12:55pm John from Florham park:

@Rich wonder what said person said to piss off said DJ
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Rich in Washington:

I honestly don't remember but it was pretty surreal. And sort of funny.
  12:57pm John from Florham park:

@Spod love when clay and Fabio get together, great radio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Julie:

I love Clay too! He put me on the air! those were the days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm spodiodi:

sweet, Julie! wasn't aware. cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Julie:

oh yeah.. the days of the triumvirate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm spodiodi:

what will bebe grimes/musk be called?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm Rich in Washington:

i once did a late night shift at my station but had to work the next day and the host after me routinely spaced coming in on time, often just flaking out altogether. I finally told the Programming director, who was also at the time acting station manager, that I would just put a CD of Lou Reed's Metal Machine Music on repeat and leave, locking the door behind me. From then on, there was a more robust list of reliable emergency sub DJs posted in the air room.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Julie:

do we know there is a baby or is she just promoting the album as such?
  1:02pm John from Florham park:

@Rich sounds like something ken would have done:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm spodiodi:

oh, you know, I don't know... i think i saw mention, and just threw it out there ( i think i saw mention of "Daddy Musk" on reddit recentlyish)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Julie:

oh that is so funny
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03pm spodiodi:

that's great, Rich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04pm Ken From Hyde Park:

At the local student-staffed station at WVKR, when there was a gap in the DJ coverage, they would start two CDs on two different players on repeat. One CD was a mix of 80s pop selections and the other was 59+ minutes of silence followed by a station legal ID.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Julie:

the beginning of automation
  1:19pm John from Florham park:

@uulie what really turned me into this station, was when Bryce and Shelia were both stuck in the studio because the doorknob broke, thought to myself you would never hear this in a corporate radio station
  1:19pm John from Florham park:

I meant Julie sorry
Avatar 1:24pm Hubig Pie:

Corporate radio has all the best doorknobs
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm Julie:

oh wow I missed that one. Although I remember the crazy door knob.
  1:25pm John from Florham park:

@Hubig pie but no personalities
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25pm brainiac:

I love the idea of a dj lock-in against their will. It would be a ratings bonanza, if such things mattered.
  1:25pm John from Florham park:

@Juie it was kinda funny
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27pm Michael 98145:

ransom the DJ!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29pm Phillippe Bastille:

The Cretones were Ronstadt's New Wave back-up band, I believe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:30pm Michael 98145:

{ so pretty upload.wikimedia.org... }
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31pm brainiac:

Mark Goldenberg (The Cretones) was a terrific song writer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Michael 98145:

{webbing, "In late 2019, it was reported that her doctors have revised their diagnosis and instead believe Ronstadt has progressive supranuclear palsy, a degenerative disease that is commonly mistaken for Parkinson's due to the similarity of the symptoms." }
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm listener james from westwood:

Ernst (or Ernestine) Stavro Musk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33pm Phillippe Bastille:

He wrote Justine, didn't he?
  1:35pm Mr Nobody:

That niece of yours....oh boy. lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Julie:

poor Linda
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm spodiodi:

thanks james. rolls right off the tongue (ahem)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm brainiac:

@Phillippe: That, "Mad Love," et al. he was a little like an American Elvis Costello back then, but a lot less prolific.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40pm Julie:

@Brainiac by the end of Glen Jones's 100 hour broadcast he was convinced he was indeed a prisoner
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41pm brainiac:

Sleep deprivation is no joke, but can be played for laffs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Rich in Washington:

picking up the live radio misadventure thread again: there's a legendary story about an older Jazz DJ at my station who - one Saturday, when there's no one at the station but the DJ on the air - had managed to wrap himself up to his chair with both his headphone cord AND his frantically yapping dogs leash. He actually called for help on the air. It was sadly before digital archiving, but several older DJs have sworn that it actually happened and went out over the air.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43pm Phillippe Bastille:

Yeah, I remember buying that Cretones album and it was like half of Mad Love. I just looked him up on Wikipedia. Looks like he is still active. And that resume is... fantastic! Wrote for Frampton, Pointer Sisters, Jackson Browne, Cher, Linda, Judy Collins and many others en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm brainiac:

What Ronstadt did for bringing little-known songwriters to the attention of the public is hard to overstate. She made Warren Zevon a household name, for instance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47pm Julie:

oh yeah for sure!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50pm brainiac:

I'm looking forward to watching that doc on your recommendation, Julie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Stanley:

This good
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Julie:

I need some more girl singer docs to watch I think
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54pm Julie:

hi Stanley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:55pm Stanley:

Hi Julie
Have you seen 20 feet from Stardom?
It's amazing
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Julie:

I haven't, I keep meaning to!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56pm Phillippe Bastille:

I was listening to some early Zevon a while back and was surprised to find Lindsey Buckingham did the backing vocals on the original Poor Poor Pitiful Me
Avatar 1:59pm βrian:

The sequel to 20 hands from stardom, I presume?

(I haven't seen it but have heard good reports.)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59pm Julie:

20 jazz hands I hope
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Phillippe Bastille:

(Odd, I feel like I'm deja vu-ing. Did I post that factoid before?)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Julie:

not to me you didn't!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:06pm Michael 98145:

Mr Numan is essentially unknown to me. and i know some Dedicated fans.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Julie:

most people know his earlier stuff and pretty much assume he disappeared. He is big in goth circles now.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm Julie:

hi Chresti!
Avatar 2:31pm βrian:

This calls to mind shag carpeting and very tall tubular smoking devices.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm Stanley:

Very strange Floyd this.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32pm Julie:

Yeah this is one of those ones I never listen to, I figured it was time to dig it out
  2:32pm Mr Nobody:

Always love hearing Pink Floyd.
  2:33pm Mr Nobody:

Definite happy time right now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Julie:

man I loved shag carpet. I had this plush dark purple in my room it was fantastic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm Julie:

Mr N what is your favorite Floyd album?
Avatar 2:34pm Hubig Pie:

Brian, and a bitchin' camaro !
Avatar 2:34pm βrian:

That shag was mighty absorbent if the smoking device tipped over ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm Julie:

If I had that now it would be filled with birdseed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

My carpet just looks like shag, thanks to the cats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm Phillippe Bastille:

Legal cats?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:38pm chresti:

I have a memory of partys on shag carpets that were squishy from spilled beer
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Phillippe Bastille:

Oh my, this Donovan always reminds me of 10 year old me in the back seat of the Pontiac on the way to the beach for vacation!
Avatar 2:39pm Hubig Pie:

Birds require hard wood floors and a subscription to the daily paper
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Julie:

that sounds like a great memory!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm brainiac:

What's that smell? Smells like ... love
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Phillippe Bastille: outlaws, naturally!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41pm Phillippe Bastille:

@Granny I would expect nothing less from anything in your care...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

Phillippe Bastille: heh heh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

i'm guessing that what βrian was spilling from contained something that was outlaw, as well. ;)
  2:47pm Mr Nobody:

Oh man that is a good question. Dark Side of the moon will always be special to me as will the Wall because those were really the first ones that I was introduced too. So much more than just the music to love about that is all the memories that go along with them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Granny Spicy Tuna (e/em):

wow, Julie, that Unlocked Recordings site looks like all the records i pick up in the free piles! Fun stuff!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Julie:

isn't it great?
  2:48pm Mr Nobody:

Really though I would listen to any of their albums all the way through.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:51pm Stanley:

Granny and Julie, martinibomb had a live listener request show taken from that site. www.wfmu.org...
It was gas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Stanley:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm Julie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Franco Twinkie:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm listener james from westwood:
