@spodiodi I hear ya, lifelong dream to get here, even though the house is a dump -- we were the only bidders who weren't going to tear it down. I've been thinking about taking advantage of having those little fishies around and doing a local fish tank. we get little baby perch and anchovies whenever I put the bait trap in.
  12:58pm
JakeGould:

@JohnfromFlorhamPark: Jenn Glones is at least honest about hating the chat/comment area. There are more than a few DJs that do have comments enabled but I know 100% positively they hate it.

Comments should be optional and maybe even deleted after a specific period of time so it’s just the playlist.

I have to say, don't love the lay out, as I post on an Android phone generally, and have to tap "to songs" or ;to comments" to view, unlike having them all in the same place. As someone who's done late night radio for years, with the occasional drunk/crazy/both caller, I appreciate the ability to comment with listeners. I've had people's comments inspire me to go grab something off my shelf which I might not otherwise not have played.
I sometimes go back and read them if I've been too busy frantically pulling records, entering the playlist, etc.
It's a point of engagement with listeners which I really appreciate and enjoy.

@Handy that sounds pretty cool. My biggest concerns are getting the right pH. We are mostly fresh water here, but only a quarter mile from here the bay is brackish. I also don't have room for a very big tank (it has to fit on a file cabinet), so I don't know if I can keep it viable. Wow, the Omni. Didn't realize they were that big in 1996. I left Atlanta in 1993.

Phish makes me think of two things: that "Bag it, tag it" song of theirs, and the smell of Patchouli

cool, Carmichael -- i've only ever had a layover in AZ (where i lost every one of my Best "cool" Tee shirts (*&%&$^#%!) I'm a little concerned about being harrassed for looking like i rolled down from SF, but am drawn to the heat and the desert (and low population density). how bad were the haboobs?

Tucson is far superior to PHX, in my humble opinion
Avatar 🛎 Swag For Life Member 2:40pm
Handy Haversack:

Mary, that's true! The Omni was the basketball arena -- where like the Dead or U2 would play. Phish played much smaller venues in Atlanta when I was still there.

Saw the Pixies open for U2 at the Omni. R.E.M. twice on the Green tour ... and the SF/F/RPG con was there every year!

And the World of Sid and Marty Croft.

@spodi, they were rare and not much to worry about. I love the desert scape.
